Blue Devils clearly in one of the elite corp. As always their musicianship was excellent, but the musical choice didn't hack it.

The only reason why Blue Devils win...its because they perform. I dont know if you had seen them in person but the intensity level of there performance, its just amazing. TRUE Drum Corps fans would know that.

for some reason nowadays, every year they play music now, they get 2nd or 3rd, but when their show entirely consists of isolated hits and modulations for modulations sake, they get 1st with nearly perfect music scores. don't get it. i liked their '11 show, though i'm sort of over this whole sitting/laying around on the field/in chairs thing "for thematic reasons."

More of a personal thing, but I don't think they're deserving of a second place rating year after year... Seems like they do less complicated drill moves and such... Pisses me off. Cavies should have topped them this year.

@jub2k1 Yup. Just like any other competitive performing art. You get credited on the difficulty of your repertoire.

@jub2k1 That's where the grey area is... Should the judges rewarded a more difficult show executed well or a not-so intense drill show that has ridiculous music and visuals? My opinion is to reward the corps that works the hardest and puts out a killer show. So I'd think the Cavaliers would be that corps in this case.

@DrummingWin i marched dci and I've seen the sheets, and personally know several judges, including ones that have judged finals multiple years. plain and simple and you can ask them, the cleanest show wins, ge plays a role and is a big box but theres many sub areas, its not just whoever is entertaining, madison was entertaining but they were not clean, same thing, its cleanliness

@lilromeo200789 depends on who you say it around. contra and tuba are more or less interchangeable in drum corps, but a lot of dinosaurs get mad because contras are bugles, and modern corps don't really use bugles anymore.
