I am really looking to trade or sell my Cobra for a goat... The only problem is idk if that is a good decision. I love the look of GTO's way more and I know the value will go up over the years with them as well as my 04. Any advice? I know you can't make the choice for me. Just wanna know how you like the car.
Yea I'm looking for that more pronounced, deeper tone. I'm just running the stock cat back and when I hammer it, it almost sounds like baffles are lose. It has that raspy sound between gears and that has got to go! I was also looking at the Exhaust Depost systems as well. They sound awesome for a great price, but not stainless : ( I will probably got with the Magnaflow 3" Yes, I have the SW (1st gen) headers, high flow Magnaflow spun cats, vararam intake, LS7 clutch, and a tune.
Thanks for the video. I was wondering what the competition series sounded like. I also have SW headers and Magnaflow spun cats. My only worry is losing power by going to a 3" exhaust. I've read that 3" isn't necessary until you're in the 600-700 hp range and up. It has the sound I'm looking for though. Decisions, decisions...
The changes in exhaust velocity are probably minimal, so you're really not going to gain or lose any HP by going from a 2.5" to 3" cat-back system. You will get a much louder, deeper tone though (especially if you're currently running the stock cat-back). GM is putting a 3" exhaust on the 2012 Buick Regal GS and that's only an inline 4 (turbocharged) producing 255 HP. If you've got headers, high flow cats, and a tune, you should be making around 420-435 HP - plenty to support a 3" system.
My old system droned a little around 50 mph. Drone with this system isn't really any worse. After a cold start-up, it will drone around 30-40 mph. It gets better as the car warms up. Of course a little strategic gear selection can help too. Overall the 3" system is definitely louder inside the car though.
