  • Ian seems tired! But amazing as always.

  • It wouldn't be Youtube without some elitist prick spouting shit in the comments

  • @vivalacalv Haha, I agree.

  • Holy

  • now that i've realised how it's all gone wrong..

  • I cant believe someone can comeup withsuch deep lyrics, voice andoverall charisma. You cant imagine ow much how much I will pay in order oto be back in the late 70s in and underground joint ina JD gig with my buddies and a glass of scotch

  • From 1979 to eternity

  • Fantastic.

  • absolute perfection

  • This version seems faster to me too. Brilliant! So glad to hear this version. Both versions have a different feelinga and I love them :)

  • Happy Birthday Ian

  • going to find some therapy this treatment take too long

  • is this a little faster than the album or is it just me?

  • @mick220567 yep, i thought the same about this version.

  • rip ian

    Egypt

  • wauw..

  • @Blagkit yes it is

  • Aint music brilliant!

  • i prefer this to the studio version. i love how much more present the guitar is

  • @newfuckingwave yeah, it´s much more alive!

  • @newfuckingwave john peel worked his magic with Ian and the band and this was the result, pure gold

  • IT HACKED ME OFF THAT FIRST THE SOUND WAS REMOVED FROM THE VIDEO (WHICH WASN'T REALLY THE PROBLEM) but now the video has been removed but the audio is back on, MAKE YER BLOODY MINDS UP!!! from a pissed off Curtis fan.

  • joy division for eva

    R.I.P IAN WE LOVE YOU

    GREECE

  • fuckin awesome, nothing will ever touch this

  • this song is perfect.

  • Living in a Britain in 70's,as a teenager, and visiting clubs with music and bands like this,I belive it was heaven.

  • 'See what we can find

in this collection of hopes and past desires'

  • love this!!!

  • Truly one of the greatest and most influential bands you never heard of. To hell with the garbage they call music today,(AKA Katey Perry,Lady Gaga, Hip Hop, and Rap) so shallow and uninspiring. We need more music like Joy Division but unfortunately most people today are far too superficial and unintelligent to grasp such creative musical masterpieces that are Joy Division.

  • @Jarrodboy Hell yeah man!

  • @Jarrodboy Interpol come close..

  • @jameyinegypt Interpol isn't anywhere near this.

  • @Jarrodboy well said i agree. and rubbish like Eifell 65 and Justin Bieber and Rhianna. There is a new type of music you might like. An artist called "Paul Kalkbrenner" a song called "Far away in time" Original Mix. In ways this song reminds me of Joy Division but a bit techno. I like this type of Music. He sings a bit like Joy Division.

  • @blonde7000

don't knock effiel 65 that blue song was brilliant

  • @Jarrodboy its a shame the way its gone, lots of live music venues stripped away over the years through poxy laws etc,the ones that get through now truly graft through little sweaty gigs that we forever remember the others just get a 5 album deal off simon cowell and are simply forgotten.

  • Closer is pretty much an amazing album.

  • First time I heard this song, I nearly cried. Such a powerful thing.

  • The fuck gave this a thumbs down?must have been justin beiber

  • Musically this is one of the most harrowing things I've ever heard.

  • "let's take a ride out and see what we can find...a valueless collection of hopes, and past desires" bloody brilliant!

  • I have both Peel Session Joy Division Recording releases on 12" In original sleeves. $1000 each

  • @4490red show off, hope you matched it with a nice big donation to a music and or mental health charity, think ian curtis would have been more happy with that than knowing any piece of music he made could be sold for such a stupid sum of money

  • @sebsdadez I'll donate a xanax and a pint if that makes you feel any better about it. He made his mind up 30 years ago. Respect it and move on I say.

  • Excessive flashpoints beyond all reach. Solitary demands for all I'd like to keep...

    god that is good!

  • "love's shattered cry..."

  • Oh dear! joy dıvısıon were an ıdol for new order, that' a style of musıcal dırectıon and not competıtıve behavıor; lıke roxy musıc and joy dıvısıon were the fırst band of thıs musıcal dırectıon; our pop generatıon 've been developed and been grown up

  • what a fucking track x x x x x god bless Mr Curtis god bless

  • @onemanandhisfoot dont ppl that kill themselves go to hell?

  • My 2nd favorite song of the band.

  • Comment removed

  • He found his destiny...and it's too late...

  • i had almost forgotten how much i loved this band...oh god...this song brings it all back...the darkness...

  • Their very best song

  • @figurehead4 no argument from me there....

  • i love the end.

  • raw material...5*

  • gorgeous intro

  • isn't it though??? One of the best songs ever written, IMO.

  • I always wished Factory had separated 24 Hrs and Heart and Soul ie put on different sides on the album because the two are epic songs and before you get your nerves in order after Heart and Soul on came this gut wrenching track. Drained of emotions after 2 songs before the Eternal.

  • i prefer this to the recording on closer, personally...theres something more raw and visceral about it

  • check out "les bains douches" if you like your jd visceral. peel sessions are somewhere in between the album versions and les bains in my opinion.

  • thanks alot man!

  • you're welcome. the beginning of the first song of that album blows me away everytime i hear it, and i've heard it a lot! the sound of the bass, the hi-hat, o my goodness, pure energy/emotion/ecstacy. the whole album is bliss."if you enjoy it only half as much as i do, you're still in for ahelluva trip.

  • κομματαρα!

  • Easily my fave JD song..and I'm a VERY long term fan.

  • This song moves me every time I hear it.

  • my fave joy division song.

  • Probably the most under rated JD track...of all of the versions out there this is my favourite.....mainly because of JD but also the late great John Peel......

  • i agree definately underrated, this and colony are the standout tracks on closer.

  • this is joy division at they're rawest, best, and darkest.

  • This is pure anger, disapointment and despair. In a good way.

  • This song shatters me. I can't believe someone exposed themselves like this. It's a wail to the collective.

  • what does 'It's a wail to the collective' mean exactly?

  • I think he means a tongue lashing to the world

  • He is sharing his fears and failures with the rest of humanity. Some people keep their inner turmoil and doubts hidden, and most closely guarded. As I said Ian C. wasn't afraid to make himself vulernable and give us music knit from dark nights of the soul. In doing so he reassured some that they are not alone.

  • *vulnerable

  • And made it so hard for him to go on, whereas for the rest of the band it was much less emotionally straining. At least that's what I think, esp. after watching Control.

  • and unlike what most people think, talking about your inner turmoil and doubts is worthwhile in the long run ;)

  • @cattachi pretty simple really, if your head gets fucked up with all the events in your life taking over you, and there is no way out, then yes you leave yourself open, curtis mentions the fact i got to get help, find some therapy but that takes too long, i have to find my destiny.................so he did

  • @mrmachtune I understand. But it's like listening to someone exhale their last breath.

  • @cattachi

    but nobody noticed

  • This song is like open soul surgery.

  • nice comment.

  • @jacquesjapan i wonder how dat looks like

  • yes i love this music too

  • Excellent, my first experience with Joy Division was the Peel session CD. By far the best, darkest and most intensive versions.

  • After hearing this last night I immediately ordered it on Amazon. can't wait to get it! must have played this 100 times last night. what an amazing band they were. New Order was NO ORDER.

  • intense...

  • Yes! my favorite joy division song... thanks for the post

  • Terrific, thanks for posting.

  • I love this music!
