You said you planned on going mudding with it. But, if you go mudding and have the battery where you say its going to be, its going to short out once you get in somewhat deep mud...I'm 14 and i thought of that. I don't know if you did or not. But that's just what i think. The mud will cause it to short out if its deep enough...
@lawnboy81SMS Hmmm have you ever dumped water over a battery? it dose not short out because its D C not A C. Mybe if it was under water for a long time
@ShawnCFarm Ya. It does kinda depend on what battery you have and how you have it hooked up. But still a pretty cool idea over all. I have a John Deere LX176 with transmission problems. :/
@lawnboy81SMS I'm cleaning out the junk from my shop right now, well thats what I call it. Most people think its a mud hole in there lol. I'll be getting back at it really soon and hope for another test romp soon
@crispyspa Ya thought about it, but I made them to free float so that it could aline itself. But that didn't work to well. I could still shim them but would have to still have to do this step after to keep the tracks on
Should have used snow tire recaps instead of straight tread. More traction.

What about shimming the axles with pipe to keep the tire from moving in? Or maybe welding a washer to the axle to keep the tires from moving in?
Nice project! Looking forward to the finished product.

i wouldnt cut more of the sidewall because the tracks may slide off and you might not be able to keep them on no matter what you do
