  • I seen Eric play harp and guitar when he was 8 years old and a local blues club here in Allentown Pa. At least twice amonth. He is young but he will go places.

  • Also this is an origonal he wrote when he was like 12 years old.

  • reminds me of young Paul Steckel from New York

  • Reminds me of a young Frankie Starr also a little bit of Walter Trout

  • Success and talent brings out all the assholes who would rather criticize then give this kid his due.

As for the distortion comment, uh you think it may have something to do with the camera used?

  • you can't compare this kid to Fredrik Strand Halland, Eric Steckel is bad ass, he is much more clean in his playing, and he has emotion in his playing, you can hear it, u are awesome, how did he get where he's at so young?

  • @bluesplayinhen I agree......bad recording first off. He is much better live.

  • @Claptonblues55 yes I agree .....much better!!!

  • this kid is amazing

  • Search Fredrik Strand Halland...i mean, these very young guys play all in the same and boring way:distorsion at maximum, fast scales...

This guy, then, when playin' solos he looks like a statue of marble..

  • I think the notes would still sound good without the distortion though. They do when I play. just my little 2 cents that nobody asked for

  • You do not know him I do asshole so shut it .

  • he needs to get his head out of his butt and play with some heart and soul toooooo many notes kid

  • you sound jealous, there mariotito (translated= "you're a jackass"). Let's hear some of your live stuff, bozo.

  • I started watching Kenny Wayne Shepherd around the same age as this kid and I must say that Eric has it all. They have many similar licks and Eric will go far. Stick to what you love kid!!!

  • Reminds me of a young Derek Trucks.

  • My nephew sent me this link. Said he was doing some really nice Freddie King, Robert Johnson and Elmore James tunes at Darwin's. Another child prodogy it appears. He appreciates the masters and reminds me a little of Jonny Lang or Derek Trucks. First time I saw Derek Trucks in Birmingham after one of the earliest City Stages he was just 13, playing at The Nick. Amazing. Steckel can be the real deal too if sticks true to his passion. He is certainly off to a good start. Thanks for the link.

  • I have seen him play. I have been playing for 30 years. I've seen Carlos Santana, Al DiMeola, Larry Carlton, etc... Eric is a savant. You must play to appreciate what he does. Unbelievable. He can do it all. And you know, he is quite exciting on the keyboard also. Must be seen live to be believed.

  • oops...sorry about the double post.

  • To answer the posters question the song is called "Radio Blues" and is an Eric Steckel origonal. For the words listen and write'm down as you do.

  • yep this guy kicks ass...im the same age as him..just got back from a 1 month tour in europe..and i tell ya this guy will be set for life..i just hope he doesn't give it up..that would be a waste of awesome talent right there. keep rockin mate!

  • Awesome... just freakin AWESOME!!

  • ok yes this is a blues but a lot of his other shit besides this one.

  • Name one Poppy song!

  • I dont know a lot of his songs are stupid poppy songs.

  • How you can call a slow blues "poppy" is very strange. This is a straight blues tune.

  • ok honestly all this kid is, is fast blues licks. If you wana see a great guitarist look at Derek Trucks. He was a much more soulful player then this kid when he was his age. Honestly some of it is decent but he plays a million notes and players who do that bore the shit out of me.

  • Eril will be a greater player lateron believe me!

  • You must not hink too much of stevie ray, Jimmi H, Eric C, Alvin Lee, Frank Zappa, or the many other guitar greats that have been

  • I just saw eric play last night here in Jacksonville at Twisted Sisters and was blown away. He's amazing and I'm sure he's only going to get better. I do partially agree with AdamDaBluesMan as far as him playing too many notes but you've got to see him live to truly appreciate his talent. I also hear that the drummer is the younger brother of Derek Trucks.

  • @AdamDaBluesMan Hendrix, Stevie Ray, Alvin Lee and countlss others considered amoungst the greatest guiraist all must bore you as well. If you bought and listened to his Cd's you would find that fast blues licks is NOT ALL he can do.

  • Anyone out there know what this song is called and where I might get the words? Thanks y'all.
