  • Kill the 3000 pg Illega HC TAX & JAIL Trojan Horse Mandate bill nobody wants..

    Kill the bill..

    Vote em out..

    nobody wants it..

  • Obamacare was signed on March 2010 with 59% of the people disapproving according to a CNN poll. The CBO scored Obamacare on six years of coverage for 10 years of taxes, which is how the CBO showed the bill to be deficit neutral . It’s unconstitutional mandating all citizens to purchase health care. Even Pelosi said, “We have to pass the bill, so you can find out what is in it.” watch?v=KoE1R-xH5To It’s also meant to take over industry watch?v=p-bY92mcOdk

    Allen West 2012

  • @Mummificationify CNN poll 100% people for war selling because CNN doesn't need journalists but soldiers spreading their orders.

  • @Mummificationify Pelosi was referring to (if you listen to the rest of her sentence, which most righties cut off when they post the video) the clarity we’ll finally have once the fog of right-wing rhetoric/lies settles. See, scared gullible old people actually believed there were death panels & they’d “pull the plug on grandma” and that it was a “socialist takeover of healthcare,” etc None of which was true. Word choice, maybe not so good, but the meaning was clear - to people who know better.

  • Totally agree with you sir. Physicians are against our corrupt insurance companies and they would love to see the insurance companies vanish. A physician get his payment asap from the government when a medicaid patient is there...if you show up with your hmo coverage,or blue cross blue shield coverage, the Dr. knows he often has to battle with them to get some money....

Alot Physicians even admit, they get "seceret" bonuses,if they do not offer a patient a needed surgery. Its indeed a shame!

  • one more thing,,,remember when bush stole an election winning with only few thousand votes(manufactured) and called it a mandate? obama won 365 to 173 if this was basketball game you would say it was a blowout...

  • It was far from a blowout and I'm guessing he is going to have a hard time getting re-elected if he keeps shoving bail outs down our throats. And I didn't care for Bush neither, if anything Ron Paul would have been a perfect president this time around, but getting the nutjobs who still think their parties represent them to vote differently, is like pulling teeth. Americans are waking up and starting to protest. Don't believe the news that these are paid people. They are not.

  • free health care ... free abortions,,,free education ...free cheese ... free everything.... Oh Happy Day !

Vote Democrat, for a socialist utopia where everything's free and no one has to work.

  • Call out in chains,

    Call out Your Name,

Christ, please help those in pain who need heath care and have no money. Amen.

In Japan everyone is required to have National Health Insurance. Everything is Covered 70%. The catch is people who are not sick and also retirees have to pitch in. But nobody has to worry about Ins. Cos. or Doctors bankrupting them. Mr. Obama this is what we're looking at.

  • we also elected obama BECAUSE WE WANTED HEALTHCARE FOR ALL!!!HE IS DOING EXACTLY WHAT WE ELECTED HIM TO DO,,, THINK ABOUT IT HE RAN ON THIS HEALTHCARE FOR ALL PLATFORM,,AMERICA VOTED HIM IN THE LARGEST MANDATE IN 30 YEARS,,AMERICA WANTS THIS ,,,WE VOTED FOR IT,,THOSE THAT OPPOSE IT REPRESENT A FRINGE MINORITY VIEW,,,,

  • What planet are you on steewyz? Because obama proposes a healthcare plan, it doesn't mean its a good healthcare plan. This plan has many many flaws and the people against it want to learn about it first.

And your acting like obama was voted in with 80% of the votes. He wasn't! He was voted in with a little over 50%.

  • how can you be aGAINST SOMETHING that you are still learning about? this isint even been written yet...there are some proposals but no bill has been written yet,,,you undercut your argument

im all for learning about it but most of the people opposed to it are grossly misinformed,,,ie death panels rationing ect,,,

  • I'm against it (currently) because of the lazy way our politicians have tried to notify the public. If they could have passed it before recess, they would have, but they couldn't due to dems holding out. They don't want us to know what the plan is about, its how govt works and no different than them giving away trillions of dollars to banks, and then holding out on who they gave it to.

If they come clean and its a good plan WE CAN AFFORD, then I'd be for it. Until then, no.

  • where does this overwhelming faith in government come from? From what I have noticed, governments only do one thing well - kill people.

  • I wish he was our president.

  • i think universal healthcare would definately come in handy when we see the zombie apocolypse. we could all go to hospitals for FREE and get an anti-virus, but if not, then billions of americans would tun into flesh eating mutants. no one wants that do they? but serisously, government funded healthcare is a good idea. the swedish have been doing it for years, and they speak multiple languages and smoke marijuana.

  • every single european country has universal healthcare for free. And its been working for them for 20 - 30 years...those nation believe in taking are of eachother,no one gets bankrupt because of an illness in those countries. They stick together and they all share their part with their taxes....We have the most corrupt system in the world. Its shame!!!

  • You said it yourself shawnwwe, people in other countries pay their fair share to have healthcare. The American system would not work out that way. The few would be paying for the many, including illegal aliens.

  • I agree, but our current system we have is not a system. Its shame and corrupt system we have...I am a Nurse and many physicians do not even like our system and would perfer the european system.

The biggest porblem we have in our country,is the Private Profit making insurance companies. That deny people coverage, kick them out of their coverage,or refuse to pay for certain suergeries etc...this whole co pay, deduct,in and out network crap needs to dissapear......

  • Were not too far apart shawnwwe, lets just hope our politicians create a clean bill that actually works for a change, instead of creating another huge bloated govt dept that the people have no say in. But based on some of the plan I read so far, the insurance companies are still part of the game unfortunately.

  • YES, The insurance companies will be still in charge.even though they call it government plan.the people in charge are still "profit making" private insurance companies, alot of folks dont realize. There are so many doctors who went to Congress to confess, what insurance companies pay them,if they let a patient die or don't suggest them surgery, its sad,but still congress lets it happen, because they get paid more.Drug & Insurance companies run and control congress and our country, literally!

  • Give people a choice between a public option and a for-profit option. Let the market decide. I thought the republican argument was that the private sector is better and more efficient at EVERYTHING. If the public option doesn't work well, then no one will choose it. That way, no one has to move to Canada to determine what works better ("move to Canada" is just a stupid redirection that adds nothing to the debate).

  • A choice between (taxpayer funded) public option and private is not letting the market decide. Nice try though. How about you let me opt-out of paying taxes to support the public option? I mean its going to be efficient right? Efficient enough to pay for itself the way private companies do?

  • Also, a specious argument. We don't allow people to opt-out of paying taxes associated with the police department when they hire private security. This is because we understand that some things don't work well in a profit-only motive (when spreading risk is reqired). It would only make sense to let you opt-out if there were some sort of guarantee that you would NEVER access it in the future; say when you lost your job and could no longer afford to pay a health plan who cherry-picks customers.

  • If you guys want to die before getting access to care, a government system is the best way!!!

Government systems are just odious. Why don't you move to Canada for a few years and see if you really like their health system.

  • Canadians have a longer life expectcy then us in america. and were ranked 50th among countries on heathcare but yet were the richest country.

  • @raughn3:

Canadian have a longer life expectancy because they are less likely to die in an accident or killed.

If you ignore the people that die in this manner, US has a higher life expectancy than Canada.

If I were to break down the survival rates for cancer and other tough disease, US is far ahead of Canada.

Checking facts between your reading of Das Kapital takes time.

  • The key is financial separation. Not government control but expenses. Like employees of corporations do for business trips.

All people covered all the same, no denials. Botches are redone at providers expense. Do it right the 1st time. Government does not control, but audit to make sure the service was provided as expensed.

The gov't is not taking over health insurance. It would make insurance irrelevant to the benefit of the employee, employer, unemployed, retired, & providers.

  • I believe in universal healthcare but there should be exclusions; for example, if you've ever been convicted of a felony then you don't get any coverage. Plus, the government needs to invest more money in medical scholarships and better facilities so we have adequate manpower and resources.

  • The truth is, the answer to our problems is NOT more government involvement in healthcare.

The answer is LESS -- so the free market can inexpensively and efficiently distribute much-needed healthcare services to ALL American citizens.

But, of course, thats not what those in power in Washington D.C. really want.

After all, that would mean theyd have less POWER and less CONTROL over our lives -- and power and control are EXACTLY what this fight is all about.

  • I F*CKING LOVE YOU!!!

  • This is still the only health care plan that makes any sense.

  • Kucinich is a true socialist

  • thank you for caring and sharing may God bless you let us all look to provide to help all people not just a party but as one nation under God let us not forget UNDER GOD May God bless Us All make us pure Mercy and GRACE it is hard to be poor and sick let us help all those who are suffering, sick and pray pray all the time..health care is not the answer as it is not working only god can heal-help at this point so may God bring the kingdom on earth and Bless us ALL
  • hehe.. even if kucinich were to say he would give $1mn to each and every american.. he wil l still find it difficult to win and get his message accross.

  • Joblessness is a weapon of mass destruction.

Poverty is a weapon of mass destruction.

Hunger is a weapon of mass destruction.

Poor health care is a weapon of mass destruction.

Poor education is a weapon of mass destruction.

Discrimination is a weapon of mass destruction.

Check out the United Nations web site about the Human Development Index, to see where America stands in taking care of its people.

  • True, the U.S. ranks near the bottom for poverty and health care. The is truly a share considering that our worker's productivity and economic growth is among the highest in the world. We should, can and must do better.

  • Glad you are in the race and talking about real issues. You have good experience at all levels of government and understand that small business and big business alike can work with the citizens to make a logical system for us all. There is a place for insurance companies, but it is not in health care delivery.

  • Questions: 1) How do you put "for profit" insurance out of business without leaving 100's of 1,000's unemployed and generating a recession? 2) How do you overcome the special interests representing the CEO's taking home most of the money you are talking about?

  • 1- create a transitional plan, a job training program for those misplaced that are unable to find work in other industries. Some of those jobs will be needed in the new single payer system 2- that's the tough one. The health care companies have huge lobby budgets and work 24/7/365 - no grassroots yet can match them - it'll take an uprising of the people

  • Thanks for well-thought, intelligent replies: it is deeply appreciated. 1) Agreed: point being, it may take 5 years or more for a transition to avoid creating a recession. But yes, many skills could transfer to the new system or other venues. 2) Agreed again: this is where we _really_ need a solution...

  • Thanks for the reply and dialog. HR 676, the Kucinich/Conyers Single Payer health care bill (with a growing number of co-sponsors) does transition us to a non-profit health care system. It is not "immediate". There are a growing number of supporters. We need a progressive leader unfortunately, Clinton, Obama and Edwards all keep health insurance alive - in fact, their proposals strengthen the status quo. Sad really that we aren't demanding more from them.

  • I would love to look over HR 676, see how they approach it. I agree we need change: my biggest concern is those who profit from the status quo are too firmly entrenched to be excised. When the Dems won't even challenge proven nationwide vote theft, will these elections even matter?

  • Check out HR 676 - google it and you'll find the text of the Single Payer Health Care initiative. The Status Quo is entrenched, "corporate" interests have been sold as the only interests and we've bought it. Profits above people and the planet. We need sweeping changes but most people aren't there yet. Sadly. People are waking up...

  • Single Payer Not for Profit Health Care

Not for Profit, Not for Charity - Real Care for Everyone!

    Go Dennis!!

  • Kuccinich is the best guy!!! He has my vote!

  • December 15th is a mass donation day. Give as much as you can and spread the word.

    december152007 . com

  • I've been looking at many of the candidates for president and I have found that Kucinich has the best views on issues overall. I kind of wish Clinton or Obama would have similar views because I think the country needs a woman or a 'minority' as president; we need a change but I don't think their views cut it. So, Dennis4President!

  • dennis4president!!!!!

  • I support Kucinich's views on the issue of universal healthcare for all. I also agree with his stand on every issue that is important to me. His views are the most consistent with our beloved constitution than any of the other candidates. Kucinich for President! Let's make America America again!

  • when hiv was announced as the 'probable' cause of AIDS it never went through independent scientific review, and when scientists asked to do so their funding was cut. why?

  • "One nation, indivisible, and HEALTH CARE FOR ALL." Go Dennis!

  • Mr. Kucinich, you are amazing. I haven't decided yet, but you're definitely one of the candidates I wouldn't mind voting for. Good luck to you!

  • He's great. Let's hope he gets in... Hillary sucks!! I would love for a woman or someone who is not white to get into office, but until that happens, Dennis is the most just person! And vegan! yeah!

  • DENNIS plan is the only good one among candidates .....

    DENNIS FOR PRESIDENT .....

  • America needs a leader who recognizes the obvious fact that profit-driven healthcare insurance is in conflict with the provision of medical services to all.

As long as insurance corporations are paying the bills, there will be denial of treatment to those who either cannot afford premiums, or fall through the cracks of the underwriting process.

    Wake up America !

  • The Dem party totally needs a people's president and now another greedy puppet for the special interest big business. I just wish that People did more research before they voted instead of picking the popular ones like it was some game of middle school dodgeball. After Bush we need someone for the people much like Kennedy. BTW, I buy my pharm from Canada at 1/4 the price and travel to Asia for medical care. I just hope that we get this mess fixed before I get hit by a bus!

  • typo: now should be not sorry! :)

  • Dennis Kucinich,

You are brilliant. You saved Cleveland 30 years ago, and because of it you were voted as congressman, as you will also be voted president!

  • Surprise of surprises, one more sophomoric, adolescent level comment on YouTube.

Out of necessity, healthcare, and seeing that it is available to everyone without risk of causing personal bankruptcy is something that is taken much more seriously by mature adults.

  • windy39 must be working for the industry. Pay no attention to he or she's propaganda. The health care industry is running scared because they see the writing on the wall. Soon they will not be able to spend enough money to hold back this tide of change. Univerasl health Care is coming to America. What a joyous day that will be.

  • LastFree: The top 10 meetup groups are #2 Obama 68 and 4100 members, #3 Draft Al Gore 66 with 1100 members, #4 John Edwards 47 with 1800 members, #5 Dennis Kucinich 46 with 1400 members, #6 John Kerry 41 groups 8800 members, #7 Hillary 27 groups with 838 members, then Hunter and last Gravel - #1 is Ron Paul with 800 groups 33,500 members and 5,000 members waiting for club status. Ron Paul 08

  • #3 Free-Market Garage Sale - What if the government said people selling items at a garage sale, must have a $100 permit (Regulation) - would this increase or decrease the costs, thus shadow-markets. This is modern day healthcare with HMO's, Regulation, Subsidization, and Political Lobbying, there's the hidden cost. Add to it the rape in value of our dollar by the illegal printing of US dollars by the Fed Reserve and no wonder why people cannot afford health care. Ron Paul 2008

  • #2 Because, in a truly free-market the only wealth input a corporation would have is from its investors and predominately from its consumers (daily dollar vote). In our system corporations can bypass the will-of-the-people through Gov't subsidization, which Kucinich has voted many times in favor of (Agri-Farmers and Prison Conglomerates). Ron Paul is 100% opposed to Subsidization, the IRS, and the CFR controlled Fed Reserve!!!!

  • #1 Research the CFR the NWO and the NAU -- Only Kucinich, Gravel, and Paul are non-CFR candidates. However, Kucinich has voted in the same direction as the CFR 289 times. For there to be Corporationism there must and always is Big Gov't. Why?

  • I meant his or her propagand I worte that fast LOL

  • Thanks for not saying anything smart.

  • Well, I didn't want to confuse you, so I kept it simple.

    You're welcome.

  • Do not worry, unless you go back into Gibberish mode, you do not have the capacity to confuse me.

  • Dennis Kucinich has my heart/brain support. He is sweeping the country by storm, despite the mainstream media's best efforts to marginalize him. He cannot be held back. His integrity cuts through the deception and people respond to that. His victory is inevitable. (I tried to put this on the CBS vid, but my comment is "Pending approval").

And I AM donating next week.

    Go Dennis!

  • saddam invaded kuwait because their oil comapnies were using a technique called slant drilling to steal Iraqi oil. Saddam went to the UN, who basically said go fuck yourself, so he invaded them. nobody is saying Saddam is a nice guy, but there are plenty of murderous dictators out there that don't have massive oil fields in their country. so we don't invade them. and if saddam was so evil, then why give him biological and chemical weapons in the 80s to attack Iranian civilians?

  • If you read the transcript of the meeting, Saddam was threatening the US Ambassador with individual acts of terrorism before he asked her to interfere in border disputes. He claimed parts of Kuwait were his property, she said border disputes are none of our concern, but he also knew invasion would not be tolerated.

  • While I agree slant drilling exacerbated the issue, Hussein always believed Kuwait should belong to Iraq, and he figured he would "take it back" and we would be weak and do nothing. He underestimated our resolve.

  • Pro Saddam Hussein? You sure you wanna be "that guy"?

  • What do you hope to gain? Dennis K has no chance. Universal Healthcare is a carrot to dangle, they have been doing so for the last 70 years when Truman campaigned on it. Why vote based on something impossible to make happen? Campaigning for someone who has no chance only lets you sit back and say "I told you so", while the world crumbles around you.

  • Supporting a candidate with a platform you agree with is the best way to influence all candidates.

If universal healthcare is a carrot and grows in demand, all politicians should respond.

It may be painfully slow, but eventually change can, and does take place.

  • If Universal Healthcare is so great, why didn't we take Truman's lead and make it happen in the last 70 years? If anyone could ahve made it happen, LBJ could, but didn't. Why? He had everything he needed to make it happen, just like the rest of his "great society" entitlements.

  • Can't answer that historical question, but it certainly appears now that U.S. politicians have been bought by corporate donations and act as shills for their interests at the expense of the society they are elected to govern. It's unfortunately not hard to imagine this kind of corruption existing, but more under the table in the past. Canada has strict limitations on corporate campaign donations for precisely this reason.

  • We get it. You love Canada. Good. You have no reason not to. So stay there, and leave American politics to Americans. Mind your own business and let us mind ours. It should be none of your concern. Go kiss Michael Moore's butt and the two of you can stay out of the USA.

  • Reducing the discussion to a personal attack is an easy way to avoid considering the larger picture.

Unfortunately Canada is indeed very much affected by the negatives that take place in the U.S.

Violence-saturated films and television, handguns, gang-mentalities, attempts to initiate privatized healthcare facilities, profiteering pharmaceuticals, to name a few, all find their way into our society.

Canada has a real interest in what happens in the U.S.

  • We are not interested in your interest. You worry about you, we will worry about us. American politics is for Americans, not Canadians. We do not care who you vote in to office. Reciprocate in kind.

  • What you say is clear. You do not care about Canadians. And I also hear you say you do not care about other Americans. In fact, all I hear you saying is how much you care about only looking after yourself and screw the other guy.

I'm convinced you work for the HMO's.

  • I do not work for anything medical or insurance related. If I did not care about people, or I would not volunteer my time to teach people and I would not have gone to war. However, we all have to be responsible for ourselves, and not rely on Government to do it for us. I am not trying to be offensive, but I do not need a Canadian telling me about American policy.

  • The effects that the U.S. has on Canada are described below, and explain why we do indeed have a legitimate interest.

It is a fact of life that we do rely on government and if it did not exist, would have to be invented. It is precisely the over-involvement of the private/profiteering sector that has gotten U.S. healthcare into the position of needing fundamental re-structuring. It is a worthwile goal that no one is left behind.

  • Why don't you fix the problems with Canada first, then come tell us how screwed up we are...okay? When Canada is perfect, maybe we will take an interest in your opinion. I could bag on Canada all day if I desired, but what good would that do? I don't live there and like you, would not know the first thing about someone else's country.

  • The effects that the U.S. has on Canada are described below. They are real and legitimate, and you have not responded or acknowledged reading them. And while you insist we butt out of your business, the U.S. continues taking intervention in other countries affairs to new extremes. The latest resulting in the deaths of tens of thousands of innocent Iraqi citizens protecting their own land from an invading force.

So, don't talk to us about minding our own business.

    -

  • In 1990, Saddam Hussein invaded Kuwait. That started a chain of events that eventually lead to his removal from power. You make Hussein out to be some innocent guy, just minding his own business. Again, you have no idea what you are talking about, yet you feel the need to delve into the business of another country.

  • 1990 Hussein invades. 1991, Hussein surrenders and agrees to many things as a condition to surrender. oer the next 12 years, Hussein fails in his agreements. capped by 1998's removal of weapons inspectors. He bribes the UN with "oil for food" money, and Clinton is denied access by the UN to his removal. Bush decides to remove Hussein, who we have 100% legal right to remove since his surrender agreement failures.

  • You have just listed what you consider to be legitimate reasons for the internationally non-sanctioned U.S. military intervention in another country resulting in the subsequent deaths of tens of thousands of residents defending their own land.

And you continue to ignore the concerns over the effects the U.S. has on its closest neighbour.

    This thread is about healthcare.

  • This thread IS about healthcare, but you went off into a discussion of the war...so I went too. Now that I responded to all your questions and gave you appropriate and factually correct answers, you don't like it. Typical liberal diversionary tactics that blew up in your face.

  • It was "not sanctioned" because the U.N. was corrupted by Hussein. It is hard to get a regulatory body to vote your way, when the person they are receiving bribes from, in the millions of dollars, is the person you want ruled against.

  • Ya, right. Didn't realize that humour was going to be introduced here.

    Tell us another one.

  • You seem to do that a lot. If there is something you can not answer, you just tell us we have no idea what we are talking about. How about trying to influence us with some Fact? Intellect? Rational Discussion? Google "oil for food bribes" and see for yourself. You will see at least one good BBC article.

  • What? No fact? No Intellect? No Rational Discussion? You answered my other posts in other threads, so I know you had a chance, but for some reason you did not answer here. I guess you didn't have anything to add that might be factual or worthy of discussion.

  • windy obviously believes more in personal responsibility vs. entitlements. Canada should give that a try.

  • Personal responsibility for mature adults includes an increased social conscience. This means less egotistical acts of selfish greed disguised as personal ambition, and more cooperation towards the greater good of shared interests.

Canadians are grateful they do not have the extreme povery and crime of the overly competitive U.S.A., where the dog-eat-dog mentality manifests itself in pathetic competitions in every activity imaginable, right up to beauty pageants for 5 year olds.

  • Thanks for your opinion on what constitutes personal responsibility. Only in Canada can PERSONAL responsibility be defined with words like "greater good" and "shared interests", the hallmarks of Socialism. That's YOUR way and why Canada will always live in the shadow of the US. But its ok, we need good places to fish.

  • You might want to consider speaking for yourself. This American doesn't share your isolationism.

  • Of course Canada has an interest in what happens in the US. Your country would wither up. I just got back from Canada. Do you have ANYTHING that is not American? You are America-lite.

  • I'm an American citizen and I agree with nextdoornorth completely. It is my business, and IMO, it's not the business of major corporations and neither should those corporations be able to buy my government.

  • I am cool with you having your opinion. You are an American. I do not have to agree with you, but you have a right to an opinion, where "Canadian North" has no business in American politics.

  • I agree that countries shouldn't interfere in the internal politics and policies of others. I disagree that being Canadian (or Mexican or Australian or South African, etc.) should negate the right to an opinion. Someone's opinion is his or her own, after all, and opinions don't write policies. The defence of free speech is one thing I'm very proud of as an American, and as far as I'm concerned, every human has it. In my opinion ,of course. *g*

  • Windy-

    I completely agree with you.

  • Amen Brother, I have been reading a lot of your comments and we seem to have sinmilar views. Keep fighting the good fight.

  • Spot on!

The solution is indeed 'single payer'.

Multiple payers of medical services (insurers)naturally require profits to survive. Trouble there, is that to do so also requires reducing provision of serviecs where possible and all too often unfairly and tragically. Profit and provision are conflicts of interest. If the U.S. society were to begin to genuinely look after each other and truly leave no one behind, it would witness a stunning drop in crime and a renewed national pride.

  • Don't patronize us by saying it's not free, "We pay for it with taxes!." Well we drive on city streets for FREE -- their construction paid for with taxes, they are FREE, -- books at our libraries are FREE, -- our Fire Departments, Police Departments etc., are FREE. These are all FREE services, collectively socialized and paid for with our tax dollars. To argue that Health Care -- a life & death issue for many -- should not be considered in the exact SAME league is LUDICROUS and ARCHAIC.

  • He has guts! Go Dennis!

  • this guy looks like the only real politician running.. the rest seem like celebrities.

  • We need to focus on our individual well being, not just other peoples... We need to learn how to progress before we step forward. There is too much risk and things already wrong to not plan out our own moves. I think we need self awareness and that the government should be focused on self well being and health. Ys we rely on one another every day, but also not forget our individual selves.

  • To pick a representative does not mean that they have to share our values... I think most of america doesn't realise that we can still change what happens so long as we work together in a certain direction. From the psychological stance I notice Americans are feeling a downward spiral. Even if this were true, who is to say we cannot come out of it. The people we choose to represent our beliefs are half as important as who we really are as a whole.

  • stop making good points. this is politics, not problem solving.

we need someone to lie to us and tell us it's for our own good. don't you realize that if the shroud is ever lifted and the strings are shown, the whole decks of cards will fall?

  • Kucinich is my hero. He is absolutely right. Why are we giving our hard earned money to the rich? Why?

  • kucinich sounds like he would be a good president, but the way our electoral system works sucks.Any democrat i vote for will be canceled out by the republican votes who control Utah.that said i have no control in who will become president

  • he must be MAD!we don't want goverment healt care!we want quilty affordabeal health care!NWO NWO NWO

  • The American People are tired of the Status Quo. Kucinich in 2008!!

  • We need to start a movement on youtube, like how the Ron Paul blowhards are doing. I'm leaning towards Obama, however recently I have heard Kucinich's speeches and he has really blown me away. Lets get this guy more attention!

  • I was very pleased to hear you and you alone speak of ELIMINATING the INSURANCE compainies within our health care system. So much FRAUD in this system and once again, for the last six years, no oversight with the FRAUD! See HEALTHCARE FRAUD IN AMERICA for more info regarding the fraud. Also check out Richard Rainwater and his wife, Darla Moore in our health care system.

  • MASS. Universal health care scam is good for the rich

    and the middle class

it's designed to leech off the poor

    end of story

If you do not have it (cant afford it) You pay fat fines and taxes.

I am a cynical bastard but this is true

Kucinich is the man. I hope he does not want to copy this plan

  • The American Dream is just that, a dream. We need to overhaul the whole dang mess. Capitalism is self destructing before our very eyes.

  • If you want a universal health care system, here's the proactive solution:

    1) Stop eating. 1 out of 3 Americans are overweight, and obesity results in more heart attacks and thus more work for doctors.

    2) Stop lawsuits on doctors. There are few doctors as it is. I don't care if they screwed up. They tried, and nobody is perfect.

    3) Stop using drugs. THC, tobacco, and overuse of alcohol are bad for you. People that want univ. health care are more likely to be a drug abuser.

  • takemike, every other country in the industrialised world has universal healthcare and we all have lower infant mortality and better life expectancy than the USA but life expectancy has something to do with your diet I agree.

  • As long as resources have a LIMIT (doctors, medications, whatever else), health care is not considered a right. That is an idealist opinion, but it has never been a right ever since the beginning of time. There is always somebody that has better or worse health care than yourself, and to tell doctors and nurses that they are not working hard enough to satisfy all America's needs, that is uncalled for.

  • nobody's blaming doctors and nurses. my mother is a nurse and she works damn hard to help people. but people like her only have so much power. the ones that we point the finger at are the politicians who value competition more than they do equality

  • cont'd

    2) Health care is not so cut and dry, plus the irony of all this is that the wealthy hold most of the power in this country. What they say usually goes, only a handful ever deny that.

    3) Increasing spending for personal healthcare is not the only need. We need to pay attention to societal issues and involvement in the schools and workplace. Ex. Is the environment healthy? And if not, arent we "wasting" money on the wrong thing?

  • There are a few things I would like to reply upon.

    1) Do not weigh importance of jobs because each one is a hero/heroin in their own sense. They all contribute to the world as a whole.

  • That is very idealist Adiktad2Nipon. Why spend 8 years in med school when I could get paid the same as a McDonald's employee? They may work just as hard, but once again, it is about risk and responsibility.

Occupations, like surgeons, pilots, entrepreneurs (google founders/bill gates), engineers, and even lumberjacks and fishermen need to be compensated for more than walmart employees.

  • You won't get paid shit, and there are incentives to do well, like higher pay.

  • kucinich is the best presidential candidate we have ever had he is a no bs president interested in changing our nation for the better.

  • How difficult is it to understand free health care? Seriously, get with it America.

  • You should get with it. Health is a GOD given Right. No CEO insurance company should have the right to play God. And that's what they do. You get sick and in 18 months they kick you off and no other insurance company will pick you up. The 18 months was a bill past by the Dem in 1982.

  • pbilger every industrialised country in the world except the USA guarantees access to healthcare as a right to all its citizens. If that means we get called socialists then that's a price worth paying for a healthier society.

  • its about time somebody said that!

i thought i was crazy. i find it funny how conservatives will use certain key words (like socialist, and many others) to oppose plans that would help america

  • Absolutely joe though the quality of debate associated with this video is quite good I think.

  • yes, definitely

this is probly one of the most educated debates ive seen on youtube

  • Yes!!!Yes!!! A politician who is not a whore, yes!!!!

  • I don't know how much cheaper there is than free (my tuition is free at Georgia Tech), but the issue isn't money...trust me. The issue is drive, as no one wants to go through 8+ years of medical/dental school just to have a salary that is similar to those out of 4-year law school asking you if you've been in a car accident. Finally, it does no good that a great percentage of our doctors have lost their practice because some low-income fool sued due to "malpractice."

  • Universal healthcare? I'm a pre-med student, and good luck America getting enough doctors for another 46 million people. Not everyone is getting it because there is no supply and lots of demand.

Sorry, healthcare has always been a luxury. The US is already spreading its health resources thin as it is. To artificially spread it even further makes doctors want to retire even earlier.

  • Well, being a pre-med student sure gives you authority! Healthcare is a human right. As a student you should know that doctors don't just come out of thin air. They can be trained and where there is a will there is a way. If you want to talk business, Universial healthcare saves business's money because they don't have to spend as much on benefits. there aren't as many people going bankrupt. less sick days, more productivity because people can get the help they need.

  • "They can be trained and where there is a will there is a way."

First of all, there are doctors being trained...just not enough. Furthermore, we keep importing our pre-med students in from other countries, but they go straight back to their home countries afterwards. If there is a will, that will needs to be "the US needs to be more healthcare selfish" and stop training doctors for other countries. Again, good luck getting enough doctors for any universal health care plan.

  • Then financial barriers to entering into medical school will have to be addressed to. Here in Canada post-secondary school is way cheaper.

Cuba has the hightest doctor to patient ratio in the world. Because you can get trained there at many different locations and they pay you to go to med schoo. During Katrina Cuba offered 1000 doctors for aid (it was turned down for ideological reasons, of course)

The problem in the U.S is your healthcare system is tied to supply and demand.

  • Health care is not a right as long as doctors are considered professionals. Now, if you want to consider doctors as "skilled labor," under a sad government salary that doesn't reflect one's work, working 12 hours a day (or night), be my guest.

There is simply not enough MDs (plenty of nurses, etc.) to take care of 300 million people, especially with the rise of senior citizens in our country due to well, excellent research by phDs (I don't complain about our research heh).

  • many people work just as hard as doctors and get paid way less. People should not become doctors because they are after the money. I don't like the idea of malpractice either though, doctors have more protection here in Canada.

  • Uh oh, there you go with the moot point. It isn't about how hard you work or not. It is about how much you are in demand. If you are a doctor, you get paid more because not only do you work hard; you have a responsibility that few people can fulfill. It takes more mental and social maturity to be a surgeon than a construction worker. That shouldn't discourage anybody, however, because there's always someone out there that has a better job and a worse job than you.

  • Which is why we need to abolish every medical school and set up 2-year associates programs to train doctors. Being a doctor is a stressful job, but a doctor's skills are vastly overrated. Don't believe the glorified, extremely exaggerated portrayels of doctors on TV. Pre-med and med school is nothing but mindless memorization anyways.

  • Wow BillyBawb, you can tell that your oral surgeon (8 years after undergrad) when you get your wisdom teeth taken out.

Nurses take care of the jobs that can be learned in two years. No one wants somebody to cut them open or be put to sleep after only two years of training.

  • Canada can continue to come to the USA for surgeons, and the USA can continue to come to Canada to buy their drugs. I guess that is a reflection of the current state of things right?

  • I'm interested in where you get your stats on US/Canadian pharmaceuticals and surgeons.

  • Doctors in the UK working for a government salary are still considered professionals. It is hard to believe that someone such as Lord Winston would be respected more if he hadn't worked for the NHS. Of course many consultants mix their public work with more lucrative private practice and the mix works well.

  • Then how come all you Canadians are coming to the US for your health care? Also supply and demand is not a "problem." It's practically a law of nature. You can't really mess with one without affecting the other. And Cuba's as likely to send 1000 criminals as it is doctors. We've been through that before here.

  • I don't believe anyone can say healthcare is a luxury. We are helping the poorest people in the world in their fight against HIV and malaria but in the USA a pre-med student believes healthcare is a luxury! What a crazy world.

  • the so called healthcare debate by politicians is a fraud. every facet of healthcare that is currently managed by the governmnet is in a shambles.

  • Tomorrow will be the happiest day of your life. Your new toaster is up and running, your new haircut widely praised. And just when you think things can't get any better, an email from a stranger arrives, offering to enlarge your Johnson.

Unfortunately, if you don't post this comment to 5 videos, a box of Krugman books will fall from a building and smiteth your head, and everyone you love will be hit by a bus driven insane by the teachings of Sir William Rees-Mogg, whoever he may be.

  • health care's expensive because the gov. subsidizes the business of monopolizing insurance companies.

  • If we can spend 8.5 billion a month for the war profiteers then we have enough to insure every child in America.

  • GO DENNIS!

  • Dennis is trying to provide us universal health care like the rest of the civilized world. It works everywhere else why wouldnt it work here. The spin machine will try and shoot down his ideas, watch them. Dont believe the spin, universal health care works!

  • Kucinich could turn the US around. If only corporations didnt have the government in its pocket

  • When you give control of your health care over to The Government, you are giving control of your body over to The Government.

And all they have to do is tug that leash and you'll be forced to follow them anywhere they want you to go - right into the voting booth.

    Very scary indeed.

Fight against Universal Government Control over your healthcare! Your Liberty is at stake!

  • slight misconception on your part. nobody is talking about government CONTROLLED healthcare, they (Dems) are talking about government FUNDED healthcare. The important healthcare decisions would be made by the doctors providing care, at least to a greater extent than in private insurance coverage situations today.

  • this is true. FUNDED by my tax dollars. And happily. I don't complain about funding for schools, even though I don't have children. I happily work to pay my taxes for things I need. What Dennis is saying, is that we are ALREADY paying more than enough. And he is saying that if we refocus out attention on the quality of the care and not the quality of the salary for Insurance agents, we will actually save money and be able to afford to defend ourselves--AND BE HEALTHY.

  • Yes. And as it is now, 60% of healthcare spending is already coming from the federal government, so really, we're paying for it already, we're just not getting it. not everyone, at least.

  • The level of inefficiency and low quality of service will cost far more under a government system than the salaries you're concerned about. Capitalism lowers costs. Government NEVER lowers costs, except by reducing supply or reducing quality, and even then, they raise taxes to keep the lousy service flowing.

  • The WHO figures that put you at 37th also show that the USA spend the highest percentage of GDP on healthcare. Your argument may seem logical but the facts say otherwise.

  • (again to LibertyAmerica) What is really wrong with our for-profit system is that it is financially in the best interests of said companies to charge as much as possible, while providing as little service as they can. this problem goes away when you take profit out of the equation. Healthcare (like military, postal service, road construction, etc) should be a public service avail. to all.

  • I mentioned this above, BUT either way it's lose-lose for privacy. We live in a corporate fascist dictatorshp. That means private insurers and hospitals can and do share info (ever heard of pre-existing exclusions?). Big Insurers will give/sell your DNA and health records to the Feds in a heartbeat, for a tax break or subsidy, and probably already has. We are livestock to serve bankers and defense contractors.

  • This man is awesome. He has my vote. He had it the first time 'round, but, this time, his message is more compelling. The truth he predicted last time has come true for all with eyes to see. He has more guts than all the rest of the candidates combined.

  • Everybody should watch this video before they vote for the Democratic primary.

  • Health care has been a big problem, but I think I need to see more to see if he's a good candidate. This time around, we do seem to have some better people running.
