This game is nothing in conjunction with the real essence of Tenchu. Especially the characters. This should go back to the makers of the original Tenchu (Acquire). After Tenchu Z, the game really fell off, actually, after the very first game it fell off. The game isn't open, it's more linear.

One thing Shadow Assassins DID give me was hope that Tenchu will end on a good note. I know for sure I'm not the only one that was disappointed with Ayame's new clothes, shes a ninja not a stripper whats with the mini skirt?! I thought her Hakama in all the other games were sexy enough, no lie. And Onikage better be throwing some kicks next time around.

With that said, I LOVE Tenchu, and before it leaves it needs to break my arms, back, and neck in a good way. Ninja rebirth PLEASE.

i agree. The game was too formulaic- the stealth kills were awesome, the shadow usage is great... but the boss battles are real CRAP! They used to be major EPIC!!!

And i like the stories themes, but the totaly disregarded the events of Wrath of heaven and Fatal shadows!

This Tenchu was definitely the most disappointing... Tenchu Stealth Assassins on PS1 was better than this and I'm sure a lot of people agree with me. Been a massive fan since the beginning and I just pretend this one don't exist. Fatal Shadows was pretty good graphically and gameplay wise (for its day) but they really didn't need to set it before Wrath Of Heaven. Anyone know if theres gonna be another game ever?

I like this game and all... But the storyline could've been more like the first three, mixed. Honestly, K2 and From Software captured Tenchu's real image, and when Tenchu WoH was first played by me myself they captured a good gaming experience that the other 2 had. For Tenchu WoH being a big sucess it got a sequel to the game itself. This game was rushed I think they should've not rushed it because it'd possibly come out in 2011-2012. The storyline would've been making better sense.

The funny part was Acquire, the developing company that made the first 2 Tenchus(and another 2 expansions for the 1st game) took part in this. As for the other developing company From Software, i mean cmon, they overlooked the publishing for every single Tenchu game including spin-offs since Wrath of Heaven. Surely they knew the whole Tenchu backstory better than anyone else does. Okay fine, they tried to do something new for the gameplay so meh. But you can't screw up the story, you just can't.

In my opinion Rikimaru has to accept himself. Onikage can live because of Rikimarus feelings of guilt, possibly even of self-hate. Former has to be clear - Onikage said that he is always around him. But okay. Rikimaru is so heavily haunted by guilt that his hate became alive and Onikage was born.

Maybe he has to fight Ayame but there is a chance that he has to fight against itself, too.

I know this sounds totaly womanly. :D

Onikage did posess Ayame, but he got kiku killed off to lower her confidence. Of course he could of posessed Rikimaru but, it did not seem to sucess so he took ayame as a back up. hopefully Tenchu 5 will have both of them alive the whole time.

There are a number of ways this series could continue on from here, so there is a chance that Ayame will end up on the side of 'good' when it's all said and done.

However, if Ayame does end up becoming a permanent, non-playable antagonist, then that opens up the possibility for another playable character. Perhaps Rin will make a return (if she's alive, that is)?

That's assuming that they continue with the Tenchu tradition of having at least two characters to choose from at the start.

I agree with in regards to the ending. Rikimaru's sudden lapse in judgment, and his subsequent "cutting his wrists" over being a "killer" was completely out of character for him.

For me, what was most aggravating about the Tenchu series shifting to the Wii, was the complete gutting of any true "stealth" elements, and the means to defend yourself. Wrath of Heaven was an excellent installment with game play mechanics. I wish they had used this as a foundation and added to it.
