  • yes real country not the swift kind of country

  • Mark did justice to the original Keith Whitley version. I love the way Mark sings this! A definate 5 Star!

  • I heard he pulled a "Fredo" backstage at the stockyards show.

  • What do you mean, SouthernRebeler? What did he do? BTW....used to be in looooove w/this boy back in the day. Heeeeee! Great tune!

  • country music...! whoo i lov it..! sing with me..

  • the stuff thats on now is not traditional country music they needed something to start with and thats fine but the new stuff is not traditional country and they need to find themselves a new title ''THIS'' is country music not the shit them new singers are makin.

  • this is what country is!!!! not the shit that is on now!!!

  • Exactly!

  • I remember sometime in maybe 97, this country station showed a commercial with parts of this video and maybe a Tanya Tucker song on it and reveled in saying "We don't play this old country."

"That's supposed to be some kind of selling point," I thought. I figured popular country would come around eventually, but it sure is taking a long time. At least in about 5 years, all these kids who grew up with this "modern" business will be getting older and looking for more exprience in the music.

  • Acesaregood good list. Old Brooks and Dunn, Old George, Old Chesney good days

  • Chesney was good until "She thinks my tractors sexy". Then I lost all interest in him as a country singer.

  • early mid 90's, tracy lawrence, tracy byrd, mark chesnutt, sammy kershaw etc, what happened!

  • The good o'le Country songs are the best. Some of the new ones are good. the real country songs are the best! Nothing beats them

  • like "entertainer of the year" Taylor Swift

  • if u ask me taylor swift aint nothin but brittney spears with a guitar

  • I'm glad to see I'm not the only one that feels that country's no longer what it was... I used to be so excited about the CMAs now I don't even bother looking at it... its not country its a bunch of tiny boppers.. all taking over..

  • Where are you Mark, we miss you

  • Yeah, I once tried to listen to "country radio" via Internet and, after a few songs I asked myself "What the hell? Is this supposed to be country?"

BTW, the same is with rock music today.

  • it isn't about the music now it's about the all mighty dollar sign. sorry but TAylor swift tanked her performance on DWTS's.

fiddle, steele guitar, drums, guitar all part of making good country music. NOT tweaked in the stuido crap they force feed up on the radio.

  • What's happened to country today? On the CMA' s this year, Taylor Swift (who's songs have topped the pop charts) won Female Vocalist and Entertainer of the Year. I mean, WTF?! Reba should have gotten female vocalist and George Strait should have gotten Entertainer of the year.

  • Love, love this song..so many memories, cruising in my car listening to this tape!! cassette tape LOL

  • love the rythum

  • Amen to all those comments!!! Mark is true country!!!

  • I wish record producers would look at these comments, instead of signing all these metrosexuals that wear designer cowboy boots and call themselves country. I cant even listen to the radio anymore I listen to talk radio when I drive now...

  • Amen....all they care to make is "pop" charts crap nowadays.....the 90's were the modern era golden age weren't they?

  • great comment brother! agreed

  • Glad I'm not the only one that feels country music has gone to crap in recent years.

  • Comment removed

  • country suck today

  • What happen to songs like this, Country has went to hell today?

  • Yeah, I know what you mean. This new country songs today are not true country. I have never liked Rascal Flatts. Alabama is much, much better. Mark Chesnutt is true country and this song proves it.

  • ONE OF MY FAVORITE SONGS.

  • Look at 2:30. Hes actually playing the gituar, not just holding it to look good for video. This was country's greatest era.

  • GOOD

  • Have to say, Ive always like Keith Whitleys version better

  • great drinkN song !!!!memories

  • The song is a lot better than the video, lol. One of my fave country songs ever.

  • man i remember hearing this when i was kid! country at its best during this period! loved this style of country it was better than the style of country today man wish we could go back to when country sounded this good!

  • I could not agree with you more

  • i love that song...mark is great

  • On september 6 is his birthday!!!

    Happy birthday!!!!

  • What in the hell are you talking about?

  • Is it just me, or did some really fucking good country music come out between 1985 and 2000?

  • You got that right!!

  • yes country was fun and entertaining

  • It was well dead before 2000

  • Nope, it ain't just you, some of the best country music came out during this period. Mark Chestnutt has got to be one of the best singers country ever offered. When he sings, you hear what country is truly about.

  • rip uncle delemer miss you so much

  • i liked mark in the 80's but i like it better by don everly.

  • Nice stuff...Thanks Mark!

  • Isn't he the same person who wrote and sang"Bubba Shot The Jukebox?"

  • absolutely!!

  • yea he sang bubba shot the jukebox

  • yep thats a good song

  • are you a female needing some comfort holler

  • Fantastic - ijurapi - socram - sp - uti - Brasil

  • I have lived this song more than once. The last time I almost drank myself to death, I was just glad that Father Time was there. Almost all of the pain has gone, almost.

  • I've been dumped me 4 times and this song speaks to me about all 4 times.

  • HB barney love yeah

    = ) XoX

  • My mom always played this album while cleaning the house. I remember all the songs now and when I think of country, I think of this and good ol' George.

  • somebody said garth brooks overshadowed alot of good country music talent in the 90's man is that true

  • Remember Grade Six...........................

  • If God made Jesus Who made God?

  • What difference does it make? We will never know.

  • Oh Yes We Will All find out Someday. Whoever the True Maker of Life and Things is Will Take it All away someday.

  • no one made god, he has always been and always will be

  • Chesnutt rules. This tune takes me back to high school. Back when country was country.

  • hell i'm 16 and i love this county it might be older but it gets better with age

  • That's what my family consisted of too.Good tune.

  • one of the few that is able to re-do old George Jones hits and sound great love your music MR. Chesnutt.

  • Mark Chestnutt is a class act.

  • I share a friend with him and once had the pleasure of having a beer with him. He's really a down-to-earth and humble guy. Very cool and polite. He called my wife ma'am with us being probably twenty years younger. :)

  • The last time i saw him was at Billy Bob's Texas and mas was there a MAJOR fight because he took off his boots and people wanted them!

  • this is an old song

  • man youre not kiddin lol

  • this is great!wtf happened to country music today?

  • it got suckier the country today is nuting like when it when back in the day

  • They killed it. Instead they play rascal queers, taylor swift, and whatever refugee that couldnt make it and classify it as country. If I wanted to hear taylor swift Id fuckin put it on a pop station, not a country station. Popularity is money though.

  • I love that guitar sound. Is it an acoustic guitar or what? Thanks.

  • acoustic

  • actually, the one he plays in the video is an acoustic electric, but thats really just more info than was necessary guess, Haha

  • yah well i got one like that

  • Great song! Does anyone know the names of his band members? It appears they have been with him a long time, as I still see some of them playing with him today. Thanks!

  • More Great Country from Mark ! Great Music and It's Sure Country !

  • I had a brief yet torrid mad crush on this here good ole' boy from TX waaay back in the day....snicker...this song put that crush "woooof" over the top....LOL~ I love the country music of the late 80s/early 90s

  • I had the pleasure of opening for this guy in Savannah a few years back.

The show included JoDee Messina and Lonestar.

Brother Jukebox blue us all right off the stage.

  • i might go to one of his concerts at dcs

  • I've got two words. Jamie Johnson. Look him up.

  • Jamey Johnson is fantastic! So is Jamie Richards...look him up too. And Amber Digby. Justin Trevino. Tony Booth. Curtis Potter. Heather Myles. Sunny Sweeney. So many fantastic new artists out there who still make country music in the traditional format (like Mark Chesnutt is known for) like it was meant to be heard.

  • Wtf are you talking about sottekm I aint never heard a song like that stupid

  • i swear my soul will rot if this music does not come back. this new " i got lost in a tornado and watched my girlfriend take a dump while i whirled away into the next county". DING DING! lets get this shit back boys!

  • NEVER HEARD THAT SONG????

  • there is still good country bein made its just no longer on the radio. There will always be honky tonk heroes but they may not get the recognition they deserve

  • Never fear kids, every now and then an artist comes along to bring country back to its roots. Strait did it, Randy Travis did it, Yoakam did it. Just be patient, music goes in cycles. The pendulum has to swing the other way soon.

  • I like this optimism.

  • i hope so cuz all the new shit is gay

  • There's plenty out there. Check out the artists I just included in my latest comment. And if you haven't done so already, get a satellite radio and tune it to Willie's Place. It'll be worth it.

  • i just want to say I am a fellow willies place listener and it is worth anyones time who wants to hear good American country music. God Bless America and the hardworking people who built this nation.

  • thats the stuff i grew up with back in the good ol days

  • I sure miss the good country music. The "country" today is just not the same. Such a shame...

  • amen!!! country has become so bubble gum these days thank god there is a few traditionalists left

  • If you can wear a pair of right, ripped designer jeans and a preppy button up flannel-looking shirt you can be a country artist!

  • I just love this song.......

  • this is the real country i grew up on this video came out when i was born!im with you folks badassss!

  • Another classic off the first album. Damn I miss country like this. At least we have the older stuff and a very rare new song that compares.

  • Country music has changed, partly because of American idol. I'm sick of "fake it, till ya make it" country music. fuck American Idol, TV sucks. what ever happened to sitting around a radio?

  • gotta tell you....and maybe someone should let haggard know...the good times are really over...aint nobody comin outta nashville ever gonna sing like this ever again

  • Love this song. It reminds me of being a kid and riding in my dad's car with the rural New York State fields going by.

  • Lets see Rascal Faggs, or any other of those other guys meet this type of quality/sound. Not gonna happen

  • LOL, i call that band of queers Rascal Faggs too. They'll never the music like this, or clint black, or any other real country singers

  • I can't see how anyone in this new generation of country will be able to have any dedicated beer drinkin songs. Sad

  • that's what I miss about the 90's. Beer drinkin' songs.

  • in my opinion it is not rascall flatts's fault- it is the radio stations- I am 24 in Pennsylvania and I would LOVEEEE to hear real country like this- but they play keith urban all day and it makes me want to kill myself- i think at the end of the day rascal flatts is quality stuff and so it this- but the industry has totally shut out anything that is traditional sounding

  • Mark is my all time favorite! Seen him several times and he's better live! He keeps to the traditional country music. Novel thought, huh?

  • Mark Chesnutt is the ultimate country singer and he has a great voice with great songs. That helps and it also helps if you stay true to the roots of country music that Hank Williams, Merle Haggard, and George Jones taught us about.

  • Trop bonne !

  • seen many of bands play this in bars good song

  • Ah yes...the last of the true country boys before Nashville became Hollywood.

  • Very well said!!!

  • definetly one of the best drinkin` songs ever

  • Beautiful song!

  • damn fine

  • Wish you were still around singing on stage

i would ask you to dance.

  • That Japanese guy can really play the steel guitar.

  • This was back when country was really country.

  • yeah taylor swift kellie pickler pretty faces that will be hear 2 day 4 gotn 2moro. this music will stand the test of time 20 years from now people will say taylor who kellie who. there music has no depth 2 it.

  • u cant say it better than that. damn do i love traditonal country music.

  • awesome song, one of my favorite country tunes

  • heard this song for the first time in 08 - WOW, freakin love it

  • love this song makes me think of the ol days

  • keith whitley's version is better

  • one of the best beer drinkin songs around...get r done from newbrunswick canada!

  • yea i know this older stuff is so much better.

  • well you should!

  • i love this older country music but this new crap like taylor swift there turning it in to a three ring circus with that water stunt she did i guess she did that to take the focus off how bad she sings

  • i agree james, take away her music and back ground and everyone will see how she really sounds

  • Mark was the first country music singer I jammd to when I served in Desert Sheild and I still Jamm to his music. Keep it up Brother, Luv your music

  • great song, great singer, awesome music, down with anyone who puts country music down.

  • Mark you sure your not related to Clint Black

  • Great song & video by a great singer :)

  • He ALMOST looks like Bob Saget!

  • not rly, but i c what u mean

  • NOT!!!!!!!!!!!

  • I know, I KNOW!! it was just the shadows OK!?

  • mark chesnutt is the shit

  • YES! Great song! He does this song well.

  • I met him once when I was a kid. My aunt met him after a concert and pulled me out of the car so I would sing for him.He was VERY nice!

  • Originally by Don Everly, but Keith Whitley really brings it home. For Keith Whitley this song was real life. Chestnut does a nice job though. as Fairand just says his clarity and easy voice make this rendition very good.

  • mark played out our home coming from IRAQ in 2004 he put on an awesome show

  • He is my all time favorite!! Texas boys rule!

  • This guys hott and has a sexy voice, reminds me some old memories lolz

  • chesnutt's is the best version

  • When I have a mean hangover this is so cool!

    haha

  • haha me too xD last friday night, this song is the shit

  • great singer!!great talent!!country music is the best!!

  • care for a vote??? whose is better?? Marks version....or Keith Whitley's??

  • keith whitleys better

  • maybe but Mark made it more popular they are both good singers

  • it is close, very close but i have to go with the great Keith.

  • I'm a big Keith Whitley fan, and although Mark does one hell of a job I still prefer Keith

  • It's silly to compare Mark Chesnutt and Keith Whitley as each has his own style and voice.Keith put more feeling into his songs,Mark's country twang and clear intonation are his strong suits.Well,I would say they are both great in their own ways.

  • One of the best country legends there is! I don't think anyone but maybe Clint Black could rival Mark Chesnutt.

  • Country music at its core it doesn't get any better than this.

  • A great song from a great Texan!

  • My Cousin, Darrin Bigler, is the Drummer on this video. True story.

  • coolio!!

    so have u met mark?

    i have.

im great friends with his son.

  • sessyyyyyyyy mo-fo!!
