  • During the following test the MKV-L was able to hover under its own power, adjust to the target it was tracking, and transmitted video and flight path information to computers on the ground.

  • is it tracking some sort of heat source? or is this just a thruster test. ahahaha to people thinking they where guns!!

  • Ehh... looks computer generated?

  • A piece of junk, eh? It figures.

  • I can't wait for this to take down 1 missile and miss the other 20 MIRV warheads in the coming nuclear apocalypse

  • O_O

Mendicant Bias! they're taking us into the Halo world....

  • people who like guns suck

  • and you are a fucking pansy who needs to grow some balls.

  • people who misuse guns or who like to kill just to kill suck. Some just admire well crafted engineering.

  • Now that is badass.. I want one.

  • References?

  • Im already gathering the resistance

  • oh this is defiantly real... those are(as mentioned before) stabilizer jets, in space they won't have to be shot out as rapidly, and it will be able to turn on a dime.. probably...

after all these years with trying to shoot down nuclear weapons, they finally came up with something that is possible very affective anti-ballistic weapon...

  • is this real?

  • The whole idea of this is that it is shot up into space in a rocket, then deployed, then it guides itself to the target.

  • those don't look like bullets, rather pulsejets controlling the vehicle. The shooting part isn't shown

  • Terminator anyone???

  • Damn scary!!!

  • The plan is to mount one or more MKVs onto carrier missiles, which would launch into space to engage enemy nuclear-tipped ballistic missiles at the apogees, or peaks, of their trajectory arcs.

Once in space, the MKVs would break off from the carrier vehicles, then use highly accurate targeting computers to shoot big bullets — in military speak, "kinetic interceptors" — to destroy the enemy warheads before they drop back down to Earth. Thx Fox News for the article.

  • yea thats rite its fake no way this can be real its a cartoon never mind how REAL it looks

    are tech. isnt that advaced

were just learning how to transplat hearts and whole faces and makeing robots that can hit a moving planet 35 million miles away

so theres no way we can make anything hover by itself fo 30 seconds

    KOPFTJAEGER8541

    dumbass

  • either a troll or abysmally idiotic

  • If you do not understand that weapons for every conceivable future theater of war are being developed at this very moment then you are living in fantasia. Good for you, and enjoy your wonderfully simple life.

This is 80s tech by the way, and the video is at least ten years old. The notion that it is a recent development is absurdly laughable.

  • yeah I completely agree, if we know about then we have something much much better, i mean come one, the CIA created a life-size flying-robotic dragonfly. . .during the mid 60s. I am almost scared to think of what we have now that we don't know about. . .

  • mtnviper, is that so? Did you never ask yourself why a hypersonic suborbital warhead interceptor would need to hover stationary over the ground with such precision? This was not a thruster test. It was testing recognition and tracking translation against a moving target offscreen in an adjacent obstruction chamber. It in fact malfunctioned and entered a safety shutdown mode which is why it dropped suddenly instead of using vectored descent. This old video was not intended to be kept. It leaked.

  • You built many of the ground support fixtures for this project? who are you? If you are so involved in the creation of this machine then maybe you could tell us more about this private enterprise? Im not antiestablishment nor a conspiracy theorist however one must ask questions. Is it being created with the view that it will save lives in the event of a future war so thus being an instrument of the good of human kind. Will the Government seek to buy these for the millitary? Enlighten us!

  • The U.S. Gov. has technology so far advanced in reality that most peoplle would shit thier pants if they've witnessed it!

They just release vids like this one from a private contracter as part of the ongoing cover up of Gov bullshit!!

  • omg conspiracy theories 2012 omg omg

  • Sigh. People are so gullible. This is not an orbital device. An orbital device would not need to manuever in this way. This is hardly capable of motion at all compared to the speed of ICBMs. This is a lunar weapons delivery platform and this testing video should not be PD. The other vids are cover for its leak. It's a remotely operated weapons carrier that would lay dormant on the surface of the moon under cover until activated. Capable of duck & cover and NOE hover under radar. Future stuff.

  • you are an idiot and you have no clue what you are talking about.the hover test was to test the thrusters that manuever the rocket towards its target.I built many of the ground support fixtures for this project and trust me when I tell you that you are talking out of your ass...lol!

  • Is there any way we can get my mother-in-law into that cage??? Just the vision of it leaves me all tingly...

  • Nice invention.....if it's true design is to save live then why call it Multiple KILL vehicle??

  • Demolishes targets (missiles). Who knows, maybe someday other countries might try orbital invasion. Then they will be killing.

  • This is something designed to actually stop incoming ballistic missiles...a defensive weapon. You'd think people would be happy about that much of it? This was not a governmental accomplishment, but of private industry. Government couldn't get beyond bottle rocket technology with the 'tards and droolers in Washington. I could imagine it now: a rocket that would have to be diverse, transgendered, Athiestic, environmentally freindly, and union-built. Shooting missles down isn't inportant.

  • YOU IDIOTS.

    1. The MKV was developed by a PRIVATE COMPANY, not the US government.

    2. It DOES NOT have guns and it wasn't firing rounds in the video...those were THRUSTERS.

    3. Please stop watching ZEITGEIST. That movie was a prank. The message is that everyone believes the media, the joke is that everyone believes the movie.

    4. If you are thinking "Skynet" or "Terminator" please do the world a favor and get neutered ASAP.

Thanks, and have a nice day.

  • GallowayJesse,

Thank you for clarifying this! I'd give you 100+ thumbs up if I could (especially for the nuetering suggestion.)

    :)

  • This looks like some sort of Pre-SkyNet system from Terminator. Honestly though, both Republicans and Democrats are so fucking retarded at this point I hope the machines will wipe you all out so we can start over.

  • Looks like the typical libtards are in full force in an area they have no clue about. Bush didn't take anybodies guns away The moron Mayor Ray Nigen and his other brain cell Police Superintendent P. Eddie Compass did all by themselves. And what is Mayor Nigel a libtard Democrat like all the morons blaming Bush.

  • This was just the propulsion test.

There were no guns going off. The canisters on the sides would separate and go after the ballistic missiles.

Check this video out for a more in depth explanation of an MKV.

    watch?v=hsPKYDcfw4k

  • Kill, kill, and more kill. Time for a new tact.

  • so cooool

  • another way to get Americans to throw away even more money to fight imaginary foes, and irritate those who are not yet foes.

  • imagine walking through the jungle and one of them popping up instead of a land mine going off, brutal

  • cool

  • Agree with artywardy. I saw it then, too. Right after Reagan let the cat out of the bag about "Star Wars" and the government had to come clean on some of the technology.

  • This is accurate - but this is a video from 20 years ago... I watched this when Reagan was president.

  • This video is from December 2nd 2008.

And you are correct there is exactly the same video of this type of propulsion system from a Space based interceptor called Brilliant Pebbles back in 1989. Heres the video:

    watch?v=RCVPNQhXtq8

Looks like Brilliant Pebbles has been resurrected, I wonder if China's ASAT (2007) test and Iran's speculated weapon have anything to do with this.

  • I think this is a simulation. I've never seen a testing facility that really looks like that.

  • Multiple Kill Vehicle-L Hover Test - Dec. 2, 2008. According to Lockheed's media page this test was conducted at the National Hover Test Facility, Edwards Air Force Base, Calif.

  • make this nuclear guys.. and use only one output and that is away from Earth.

  • The flow of stupidity in this thread is mind-boggling. If only we could harness the power of that flow, we could tell OPEC to fuck off for 50 years!

  • okay , so if this thing is supposed to be used in orbit, why does it need to be "hover" tested on the ground.? orbital dynamics and micro-gravity will give it vastly different

capabilities. Ex: one thruster burst(one bang!) on the ground will make that thing accelerate to 100mph in space. something's not right here...

  • Make this engine 100 times bigger and make it nuclear. Put it at the back end of 20 kilometer long steel structure in space. Space ring of life like Donaugh in space(made of 13 fuel busters of all the Apollo missions) is put over the steel. It is connected with magnetic rollercoaster style hook up. The ring is at the far end, engine roar for 10 sec..steel beam goes through the middle of the ring, and ring starts using the magnetics to braking to pick up speed with the steel structure, hang on?

  • that piece of crap is like 10 years old

also the feds had plasma and tesla wweapons

in use since the 60ths they usullay shoot

    for alien craft doe,

this info was for any dummy who migh be impressed by this piece of junk tool and video

    peace

  • Guns or no guns our country has truly been passified.

Americans wouldn't rise up and defend themselves even if their lives depend on it.

  • Don't stare at the ground too long or else you'll be hit by a car!

  • Bush did take guns, and Obama will take them too under similiar circumstances. When Obama said he will not take guns, he listed guns in his speach, he said hand guns, shotguns, and hunting guns, he said nothing about auto loaders, so called assault weapons.

now that the democarats own the government we can expect gun bans, ADL hate laws, and worse to be passed.

I don't like the republicans anymore then the democrats, but I really hate the idea of one so called party owning it all!

  • lowfreq50 Bush didn't take our guns; we're leaving that task to Obama. And we have homes. OMG are you for real? i hope your on drugs man but Bush just screwed everyone real good. ur a real morron. can you say 1 World Goverment if you cant then your real slow and not to smart. get with the game man. when they use weapons like this on usa people ,maybe you. think of this. Im going down with the ship Bush sank. WAKE UP AMERICA!!!!!!!!! BANG! BANG! Your DEAD!
  • Its all about makeing the US a 3rd world country plan and simple they all HATE the middle class. they will not stop till we are kissing there feet and begging for food. SAD BUT TRUE!

  • the comment was made shrub has never took peoples gun which was not true he did take guns

and when do you think you need your guns the most? during a riotus times seems like a time you wont your guns don't you think which was the time bush did have guns seized in new Orleans The American Hunters & Shooters Association said Obama's views of the 2nd Amendment have been unfairly criticized and endorsed Obama all can be found easily by google

  • looks like a CGI animation to me, not a real object.

  • I worked in a library for a national news agency during the early 90's and saw a defense contractor tape of a vehicle which looked almost exactly like this. If memory serves, the one I saw looked more round, almost ball like... But it's so similar I have to wonder-- Are we really being shown the real technology; or are we being 'fed', as a substitute for the real technology, something which is actually 15 years obsolete..?

  • Wait! I just found older video right here on YouTube of a prior model from TLC which is posted here as being from 1999... and I bet the actual source video from the contractor is older than that... Still, this tech seems very dated...

  • Wait, what?

  • Ummm.... "bushy" took no guns from anyone. It's Obama who plans that slick.

  • really shrub took no guns from any one?

tell that to the people of new Orleans who had there guns taken away by Black water.

Obama will not touch your guns

  • tthat's wonderful, Corky! now finish trying to count to potato so you get to bed. You know the asylums has a strict 9:00 lights out rule.

  • You must not be from US because you obviously are confused and misled. Bush didn't take our guns; we're leaving that task to Obama. And we have homes.

  • really do a simple google on guns seized in new Orleans katrina

  • I still have my gun. Seizures during a riotous situation vs. outlawing guns. Really you idiots go out of your way to try to find stuff to blame on Bush. Really do a simple google search on Obama and the 2nd Amendment. Bush was a horrible president but he's not Hitler and your personal, emotional, and irrational bias against him gets tiresome.

  • Just what a fellow needs for moose hunting

  • note the 'T08' at the beginning

  • this is some serious videogame shit

  • Hopefully we can kill more with this.

  • they are blanks, it is unlikely to perform a functions test with live rounds

  • You're right. N Korea was an innocent nation of sheep-herders until the bullying and antagonistic US started ruffling their feathers, the North's broken nuclear deal with Clinton notwithstanding. And Iran. Oh yes. Another nation that never started anything until WE started bombing Muslim militants.

My God. Some people won't learn until their country's in ruins and the enemy is sticking a gun up their butt. You radical idealists can keep your rose-tinted glasses.

  • wtf? is this even real?????

  • yes

  • Three cameras at different vantage points....zero hits on any of them. What is this supposed to do exactly?

  • They probably set up the cameras in positions where they knew wouldn't be hit. Why would they knowingly destroy their own cameras?

  • coreybwong - it doesn't shoot anything. those flashes are rocket engines. It's launched on top of a missile and then uses those engines to maneuver towards an incoming enemy missile.

  • I feel much better knowing that thing will defend me after Obama and Hillary confiscate my second amendment right to defend myself. Of course, if they can't defend me they have passed a lwas that stops me from suing them.

  • *animation :)

    I hate spelling.

  • So this looks like decent snimation instead of real life. There isn't any debris around the object and the third camera angle seems to make the rope enclosure look extremely fake.

Either the defense department has poor quality cameras, or decent animation artists.

  • Dude,

Your generation is WAAAY too used to thinking that EVERYthing that looks cool MUST be a CG image.

Read the comments below, and look at the other related videos to your right.

This is an actual hover test of a missile defense interceptor. THERE IS NO DEBRIS B/C THERE ARE NO PROJECTILES BEING FIRED. These tests are quite common.

  • I want one for Christmas.

  • I'm hottt!!! I just know that you like me.

  • how did this reach the most popular?

youtube i mean googletube is pushing their military ties as they r part of the NWO

  • rkirkpatrick25 and JinnJigg...

Yeah, you guys are right, we ought to stop building and developing more effective weapons. Because when we stop, China will stop threatening Taiwan, N Korea will play nice with the South and with Japan, and all of a sudden, like a magical sunny day, Ahmedinejad will love Israel. And oh, the raping will stop in Darfur. Better, more effective weapons aren't needed in this jungle...er, world. All we have to do is make sure everyone's got enough to eat and is loved.

  • well said!

  • why do people spend millions of dollars trying to create bs machines like this when there are people who are starving on the streets every day?

why dont we spend the money on people we could help, instead of spending it on some missile defense system we will never use?

things like these make me depresses about the direction our world is headed.

  • ^^^^^ Liberal.

  • More like billions of dollars.

Because there's no profit in helping starving people. Sounds mean, I don't support the idea, but that's the fact.

I'm sorry you had to discover this on youtube.

    Have a better day.

  • okaaaay..... uuuuhhmmmm ok.... hmmmmm.... what the hell?! our enemies are watching this and saying.. what the fuck, the americans are on drugs

  • The thrusters remind me of the ship in Asteroids.

"Okay, go get that missile...Got it! Wait, it drifted off the radar! Bring it back, bring it- oh, there it is, whew...Oh crap, it's leaving again! Fire the thrusters! There we go...Wait, it's still drifting! Why does this machine hate me?!"

  • That. Is. Facking. ORSOME!

  • This would be hilarious if the Army used it one the ground instead of a missile interceptor.

    "WTF!?! Everyone's getiing shot"

    lol

  • sickness....

  • That's one goofy looking thing

  • Minuteman, you beat me to it...This is part of a missile interceptor system, it doesn't hover its way down a street in Tehran shooting people in the head!

Christ, what idiots, poppin' off at the mouth when you have no clue.

so typical of us Americans these days, uninformed, illogical, and loud and proud about it! Do a little digging next time, people!

    Grousie.

"from the game Doom, or something"...Jeezus!

  • Grousie,

Thanks! Nice to know someone on here knows WTH they are talking about. :)

BTW, there was just another successful missile defense test last week, called FT-5. Check it out on Google or elsewhere.

  • Oh jeez, people, THIS ISNT FIRING BULLETS!!

This is a ballistic missile interceptor. All that is firing are its thrusters and ACS jets. It's called a "hover test".

(You who said this isnt real are probably the same people who voted for Obama, arent you?)

  • not real, the bullets would fling it off balance. nice animation though

  • Of course it's real. Any blowback from the firing of bullets is computer compensated for by the thrusters. Not a big deal really, it's done in fighter jet planes all the time with the launching of missiles. The difficult part is the aiming, which is impressive. The more interesting question is what kind of agenda does someone saying this isn't real have that makes him delude himself into believing so?

  • it was tested at a military base idiot...

  • ...the real deal....

  • This is the real deal

  • Get this thing over to Iraq ASAP.

  • Stupid, destabilizing idea. Obama should reinstate the ABM treaty and focus on eliminating nukes in ALL countries. Deploying such a system is dangerous and arrogant. As spotty ABM testing has shown (even with rigged tests), you can't guarantee a kill. This just encourages the enemy to overwhelm your defense system with lots of missiles. Ouch.

  • Oh that's a great idea...Obama should do away with nukes world wide...yeah, we shouldn't prepare to defend ourselves cause we can trust everyone right? no need to develop new technologies cause this world is all about love and peace...

  • Lose the cowboy mentality - look where that's gotten us in the past 6 years. Bush withdrew from the ABM treaty and is putting missile "defense" in Poland. Russia then re-aimed missiles at us. You can call it "defense", but the natural response by enemies is to treat it as an intention to defend against a counterstrike to a first strike. Cornerstone of nuclear security is no 1st strike. ABM fuzzies that commitment.

  • I'll keep my mentality sir, it's needed. thank you.

I don't care if they take it that way, there is no reason not to prepare for the worst...that'd be foolish and short sighted...i believe it's important to develop technoligies that protect our citizens, and the world around us. I agree with Thomas Jefferson when he states "the last hope of human liberty in this world rests on us. We ought, for so dear a state to sacrifice every attachment and every enmity."

  • Thomas Jefferson was a smart man and a strong diplomat. As such, he would have recognized that withdrawing from the ABM treaty was a foolhardy move which has endangered, not secured this country. Bush's focus on belligerence, treaty violation, and supporting nuclear proliferation (e.g. India and Pakistan) has only encouraged other countries (e.g. Iran and North Korea) to dig in their heels and accelerate their nuclear programs.

  • Stop drinking the Obama Kool-Aid. The world isn't flowers and sunshine. You probably drive a Subaru and eat grass (or smoke it).

  • Yes, it's infinitely smarter to leave ourselves vulnerable to having millions of citizens incinerated in a nuclear attack, isnt it?

A bullet-proof vest is a threat to no one.

  • These systems just barely work in rigged tests - sometimes. I don't expect a rogue attacker to let us know in advance, to attach a transponder to their missile, and/or to wait for a nice clear day. ABM is destabilizing. Non-working ABM is both destabilizing and stupid.

  • Thats why it's called a prototype. I find the technology fascinating and impressive.

Transponders are not necessary to track a missile. Pick up the latest copy of popular mechanics, read and learn something about ABM tech that's already in place.

  • Popular Mechanics is a fantasy magazine which can only be relied on to sex up the latest thing. Case on my point, after 7 years of transponder and/or controlled-flight rigged tests, the FIRST live target test for Lockheed's THAAD system was in 2006. On top of the diplomatic and strategic idiocy, the corrupting reality of the military industrial complex rushes these systems into deployment prematurely - there can always be followon contracts to "fix" any problems...

  • Damn al Qaeda is gonna hate this thing!

  • This thing shoots down missiles, not people. Al Qaeda doesn't have anything to fear from this kind of technology. Not yet, anyway.

  • FAKE

  • real......

  • Uh... Or not.

  • WRONG

  • ahhhh good ol' american technology like this must be makin' that ahmedinejad assholio shake in his turbin!

  • I have personally seen "real-time" video of the SDI (Reagan era so-called star wars) kill vehicle intercepts involving single and multiple targets. It DOES work and sweet THIS little baby works a Hell of a lot better than the old SDI Homing Overlay Project intercepts I watched "back in the day." If it's reliability is only 99%, I can only hope the one percent failure occurs when it misses the nuke destined for YOUR city not mine.

  • Kill vehicle technology 25 years ago, according to Wikipedia:

"the fourth and final test on June 10, 1984 was successful, intercepting the Minuteman RV with a closing speed of about 6.1 km/s at an altitude of more than 160 km"

Makes me think we've had kill vehicle tech working (and likely deployed) for quite a while now.

  • is that for when some capitalist country attacks us?

  • Hahaha

  • It's like New Year's in China! Hahaha! ...At least we have something to hold us over til we develop a real IBM interceptor. ...Skynet with 1000's of these? Come on - Us on the ground would just play clay shooting for a few hours. lol. Hope we got ceramic plating though.

Anyone know what kind of bullets? errr uhh, kinetic interceptors?

  • Awesomeness defined.

  • This is how the terminators got their start. Next up, skynet become self aware and begin to manufacture thousands of these. Who needs nukes when you have and MKV at your disposal.

  • where can I buy one? :)

  • This is real. It's also quite old. I saw this exact video years ago. Of course all that blasting would be unneccessary in the near zero gravity of close earth orbit.

I think its a technology looking for a purpose. It's too short lived to use in gravity. It can't carry much of a payload. Not enough mass to throw a kinetic device without launching itself as well.

    But it is interesting.

  • Maybe it's ineffective now, but this kind of technology is a step in the right direction. For all we know, soldiers in 50 years could all be piloting these things instead of risking their lives. Fighting technologically inferior enemies would be like clay shooting.

  • This will be my next hunting partner. Go kill that moose MKV, go get it! I don't think this thing will help with traffic congestion though.

  • They are tested in a cage because, were the control system to go awry, the thing becomes a ballistic missile.

At tens pounds and with the kind of thrust that thing must be developing, if it were allowed to build velocity after such a failure, it would quickly reach the speeds of hundreds of miles an hour and would be ballistically roughly the equivalent of a civil war artillery shell - full of exotic and explosive thruster fuel.

  • i want one. lol

  • Not 3d rendered...real. Most of the sounds are short pulse stabilizers/thrusters keeping it in right position. Very large part of KI/MDA programs.

  • You're an idiot, you don't test stabilizers/thrusters in a clean room, it is looks dingy because of the color of room and because what ever comes off the thrusters. You have to be a real topnoch assclown to think it is not real footage. Even the best 3D animation can look this real. What do you know about LMA/Rayth? Ever been at the place where they do the testing? NO! so you don't know. Quit perpetrating.

  • I like how some people posting a comment know more than the guys making this stuff at skunkworks. What you see is only the surface. This tech is probably older than you are. Its awesome. Leave it at that.

  • Now all we need is to add some really good A.I. so that it can turn against us. Then we need some sort of time machine to go back and get John Conna! I'll be back!

  • How much would they charge to put a seat on it so I could drive it to work?

  • What blanks? They are not firing guns. The noise and flash are from pulse modulated thrusters used to position the interceptor. The entire vehicle is the kinetic interceptor. It will be released on orbit at a very high velocity and use the thrusters to adjust its trajectory until it plows into the target missle. No guns, no explosives, just mass and velocity.

  • More or less right... though i'm pretty sure that the actual interceptors are those round things attached to the main hovering center "base". The base thing will then launch those little guys and those are what will be slamming into the target.

  • Hmmmmmm.....if it rams itself into a target missle, it wouldn't really be a "multiple kill vehicle". My understanding is that it carries multiple projectiles that would be fired at missles while in apogee.

The device itself is carried into orbit by rocket and left to maintain position with its thrust jets. Maneuvering in space requires far less energy than the test under Earth's gravity.

  • Wow this is really cool, will the local gun shop be selling these anytime soon?

  • what a waste of money for this piece of overpriced space junk

  • that piece of junk is proof of concept. think of the first apple and TSR 80. Now look at computers and smart phones 30 years later. I don't know why people believe tech is built out of whole cloth. It improves over time.....

  • This is really nothing new. I saw a nearly identical video of a test of some of the 'Brilliant Pebbles' flight hardware during the Star Wars program in the '80s!

  • me to, but look at the size reduction and response time improvements.

  • Yes, they were using Kinetic Interceptor blanks. This is why there isn't a projectile hitting the camera. But if you notice the angle at the end of the vid, there is powder burn on the netting. This thing is a beast, if it's putting powder burn on a netting that far away!

  • Those are the stabilizers and maneuvering jets...not guns firing.

  • how in the hell is it supposed to hit a moving missile, when it can't even hit a stationary camera a few feet away?

  • Its great, but now some wack job will claim they see UFO's.

  • Got my mega water blaster at hand for this pos and others like it

  • This would be so much more effective for home security than a motion activated flood light.

  • ha!

  • I'm guessing Windows ME - anybody else?

  • Sarah Connor would be shitting herself. :P

If they can make this thing for the missle defense system, they can make one like this with a minigun attached for anti personal use.
