I don't think it's the best explanation, but if you watch the replays at 1:02 ond 1:13 you can see Kipper's stick was pulled to the left by Cleary's skate, if it hadn't been stuck there it would have been covering his 5-hole, and it would have easily stopped that shot. I agree with the call.

All the same, I wish more Refs would make calls for Goalie Interference and dissallowed goals where they should be. The flames had an almost identical call against them last year. A player is not allowed to be in the crease hampering the goaltenders movement. Sure he never made much contact with kipper but he prevented him from coming out to the top of the crease to cut down the angle. I guarantee the ref was yelling at cleary to get out of the crease the entire time.  The refs made the correct call, it is a pretty weak reason to call it off though, but it is the rule
