Ah I remeber I used to load this game up just to hear and see the title. lol, it's still awesome..The Mosquito orchestra plus LOL. Miss the old commodore.
Help me find the modernized version of this awesome classic song :( I've been searching for a LONG long time... Test Drive was the first racing game I've ever played, my favourite is Stunts though. Still, by Distinctive.
@rmcdev Yeah, was an old ATi TV Wonder... I do notice that the sound is also different between my C64 (The brown one), and the C64c (The one that looks more like a 128). They do sound the same on the C64c and C128. Sadly, the original C64 died, and still seeking a replacement for it.
@kirbyyasha The main fuse blew up in mine and I (at the time with no electrical knowledge) replaced it with some aluminium wire. The old bugger still works :D
@rmcdev That's true. I had a C128D, my cousin had a C64C. The sound was way sharper on the C128, sounded a lot better on the C64. That said, the C128 is still my favorite of those two machines.
It's about time that someone posted a video of a C64 game playing in NTSC mode. The music sounds right, though the emulator doesn't quite get the drumbeat correct. On a real C64, the drumbeat is much softer, and it almost sounds nonexistant.
IMO, this is the best game of all time for any platform, no questions asked (yes, even better than modern games).
the volume level of the digi drumbeat depends on the sound chip type of which the real c64s got 2. on one of them the drumbeat was hardly hearable, prolly you owned that type. it has nothing to do with emulators
Somehow I like this music alot better then the Amiga version :). Sure the sound quality is not as good. but it seems better composed and the samples are good twist.. Kris Hatlelid ftw ;).
My C64G is still intact, keyboard spazzy.

I think the Commodore Amiga version of this song was the best on any platform.

man I love the Test drive 2 theme and I think this one sounds the best really.

This was done using a Genuine Commodore 128 in C64 Mode, using a C=1541 Disk Drive. Emulators are for wimps.

Ahh, thats why the sound is off. The 8580 SID chip just isn't the same.

@kirbyyasha
Thats all well and good, but not only does the 8580 make it sound weird, but whatever you recorded the audio with made this sound terrible.
No offense meant, just saying , it sounds MUCH better in person on a REAL c64.

well no wonder the sound chip of the c64 - the SID is regarded as a technical milestone.
