  • holy fucking shit, where do you get godly footage like this?

Jesus Christ, they are way too good.

  • just learn to play,go on ggpo, its very common to see people play like this

charging in garou is very fast, just walk backward two step and its done

  • anybody else notice that the song sounds like a techno song called children by robert miles?

  • i came buckets. that gato palm cancelling AND he's just defending during it... wow man.

  • amazing battle

  • Are all of these even humanly possible??!!

    OMG!!

  • >claiming this is tool assisted

This is an overused example, but if this is tool assisted then watching a live match of Daigo parryJWong's ChunLi's entire special must be the singlehandedly greatest live hacking in the world. And in that case I fear every government everywhere

  • What's Gato doing when he stomps the ground rapidly like that? Is he pump-faking or something?

  • @gokujr93

    He's building bar

  • @gokujr93 It's kind of a glitch-ish thingy that builds powerbar by cancelling a special move.

  • @gokujr93 Building Meter

  • Anyone else notice the song in the background is Robert Miles - Children? I never noticed that before!

  • Wooooow¡¡¡¡WHAT A FIGHT¡¡¡All my life playing SNK games and doing complicated combos, and this fight is BRUTAL¡¡¡¡

  • if anyone has this on X BOX LIVE please add me.

    Azb0111

    :-)

id love to play an actual human

  • WOWWW

  • wow man just wow

  • If you're still not sure if this is tool assisted just watch any Japanese match where the players are named

  • better than third strike? maybe faster than thid strike but when it comes to combos and gameplay, u can't fault third strike ! street fighter 3 strike, 4, super 4 are insane! one of the bst fighting games ever! ( for intelligent people who knows setups and combos og course)

  • @ushaiaa Finding one game better than another is not necessarily accompanied by denial of the other's quality.

In short, SFIII is amazing as well. :v

  • The only thing that really seems fishy to me is at around a minute he does the down charge up attack without charging it at all... it takes a lot longer than that to charge in the game. Could be a glitch or something though.

  • @weglarz if your are talking about rock's rising tackle after his p- super, you can hold down again after the super is initiated, and then pressing up once he hits the ground. it is only a 2 sec charge and he had lots of time... the video is legit.

  • Holy shit! That combo Rock does starting at 0:57 is just amazing! ANd the round after that... :O

  • this aint fake, no way, ya can see them reading each other, computers don't do that

  • Wow, fucking awexome!

  • wow. what a sick match. lightning fast reflexes.

  • this game needs to be on psn

  • OMG!! Too Sick

  • Gato's little stomp practically makes him god tier, and yet he totally isn't because he's weak in so many other ways. I think this game is balanced totally by accident.

  • Both player are very skill and fast reaction on controlling joystick.

  • OMG. That BGM is BLATANTLY Robert Miles' "Children"

  • Gato can gain so much energy if you let him keep canceling his stomp move its ridiculous. Especially since he's a pretty solid character already.

  • GATO HARDCORE!!!!!!!!!!

  • nice finish.

  • American martial artists, and MMA types say that "in a real fight," timing, anticipation, and execution that flawless is impossible.

If its possible to get a sense of timing that perfect with your thumbs, which are a part of your body, then its possible, while much, much harder, to get timing and execution that perfect, with the rest of your body.

ultimately though its just a video game, nevertheless, good "Kung Fu" man.

Especially 1:07 - 1:16 it was all instinct.

  • 1:07 - 1:16

that was so flawless, it almost looks choreographed, but you know its not.

sorry for being such a brown noser but, nicely done.

gameplay like that, was the essence of the 16 bit era, and you just don't see skill like that anymore; all you see these days are obsessive marathoners who play for hours for the sake of competition, but not really to simply have fun. In video games you only gain skill rapidly when you're not competitive.

  • 1:07 - 1:16

that was sheer poetry; THAT is how its done. THAT, is "Kung Fu."

Well, in video games at least...

too bad even professional fighters can't pull off feats of timing that perfect very often, or so precisely.

still though nicely done. If and when I get better, and hopefully get a PS3, look for stardingo, I'm a gato fan too, so, lets have a virtual Kung Fu duel.

  • damn man good job; this looks like leve 8 difficulty.

  • Whats that music... it sounds so familiar!

  • Try to search "Children" by Robert Miles ;)

  • Thats it!! That was killing me. Thanks a lot friend.

  • Its basically a copy of that Robert Miles song - "Children" I think it was called - sort of a soft synth pop/dance tune from when this game was first out..

Awesome fight - it really shows off what you can do with enough skill (I'm a semi-casual player but love the genre, the arcade sticks, learning new stuff).

Is anyone playing this on Xboxlive? I've not seen anyone yet :'(

  • ......at 2:17 Gato doesn't fly to throw the fireball!?

  • Hello gilimanolo, even if you 're not one of the two players in this video (well maybe your are!): can you tell me how to "cancel" quarter-circle-back +A with Gato.(it looks like a BUG, no!?...? I don't really know how to perform it (sometimes it works but i don't know how!? Thanks! And big RESPECT to the players in this vid' wich make me beleive again and again that 2D's games are the best!!

  • Well said Juzho!

  • "Hahaha, here comes the noobs crying about staged fights because they suck so much and can't believe anything is possible outside their shitty skills. Apparently cancelling moves looks like editing to them."

    Fact, fact, fact.

Really, let's face it: people who suck will complain. It's the same for SF3: 3S, SF4, Blazblue, MBAA, etc etc...

"Oh, these guys are doing stuff that I can't even do! These guys must have cheated!"

    ...Haha, right...

In any case, I profit off such newbs in ranbats :)

  • HAHA, I know right? Surprise I haven't heard anyone claim it was mugen.

  • @Narmo23 Speaking as someone who's been to Japan and been playing/watching fighting games for about 8 years now, I think this looks staged. It's not so much their flawless execution as much as about 20 other things that seem highly unusual. I'll tell you what I mean in my next comment since it's too long.

  • Suspicious things: No names given, players in all 4 videos have super aggressive playstyles and play almost identical, all players have godlike technical skill(like as in better than Daigo technical skill, foresight, and reaction). They never get cautious, screw up meter building, combos, or anything. Only JDs. And that's not even everything. The video is very suspicious and looks nothing like any other Garou matches I've ever seen. I'm not jealous, it just looks possibly choreographed to me.

  • @Sportsmanshipfactory actually, think of it this way, the players are actually japanese. an the japanese CAN do anything. i dont find this video to be fake, once they say the players were japanese i'll believe anything i see.

  • @Narmo23 I agree. I especially see this a whole lot during Marvel 2 videos. When they see someone rip an infinite out, they're quick to accuse it's tool-assisted. LOL

  • Amazing video.

  • 1:42- 1:45 Gaaaaaaaah dayum!

  • Woooow :O

  • Gato's corner juggling is pretty nasty.

  • Lol @ 2:34.

  • talk about a counter

  • These matches are just INSANE!!!! I can't possibly hope to play like that.

  • You could, you just need to know how to play mind games, have good reflexes, master corner juggling and every character move, and know when to use it, and mix it all up with cancels.

    Hard, but not impossible.

  • I can do some cancels and combos now. Some in the four videos are hard and I'm trying to do them.

  • megusto el video digo en serio este tipo es experto con el gato exelente video es inpresionante

  • You see i'll never be able to play like this, my hands are too slow for fighting games.

Hell i can hardly pull off the special moves in this game.

  • Rock reminds me of Kyo abit with his clothes style, built and hairstyle apart from he has blonde hair lol, plus some of his moves look similiar

  • Fake

  • Comment removed

  • he's right. its a fake.

  • Muy bueno!!!

  • is this mugen?

  • no, its garou mark of the wolves NEO GEO

  • Round 3 = rape.

  • i luv using rock and perrying people im quite the master

  • Perrying? Sure.

  • they finally put dis game in my local arcade, i was suprised 2 see how fast it was compared 2 3rd strike.

these 2 guys that are playin must be really good, if they can have such a fast paced match like this. ive finally been conveted, this game is better then 3rd strike.

  • @reebo1s Yeah... But it isn't better than 3rd Strike, that's the thing..

  • fuck i wish i could do that 360 throw with rock but its hard man.

  • garou est le jeu de baston le plus complet, recherché et.... équilibré. pour moi bien meilleur que sfIII.

garou, the fightning game who is most complete, deeper, interesting and BALANCED. it's the best 2d fightning for me.

  • Without a doubt, better than every SF ever, SKN rules...

  • Its SNK GenLiu lol

  • True...lol

    Wrote too fast...so SNK rules.^^

  • great game,great match...

  • Great match. GMotW is one of the best 2-D fighters out there. To bad it doesn't get the attention it deserves.

  • you think that? for me, he is a great character and his combos are very cool

  • That was a great fight, the best I've seen. A MONSTROUS Gato indeed.

  • This is the best match i seen on this game.

Ive never played this game b4, who recommends this over 3rd strike?

  • i do!! (3rd strike is not bad its just not my style, its to darn slow and i grew up with snk soooo...)

  • well i grew up with sf games but i played this recently and i recomend it. It's faster smooth game play did for me the most

  • This game is arguably deeper than 3rd strike and has MUCH more interesting and appealing characters. 3rd Strike probably has a larger community, but Garou remains the better game. Hope that helped! :)

  • thanks for the input every1.

i gotta get dis game now. but dares jus 1 more thing i heard some of the characters (i.e kevin) is really unbalanced whats ur take on dis?

  • People can do incredibly well by using Kevin, but that isn't to say that all the other characters aren't exceptionally good or fun to play either. I've gotten bored of tournament matches in the past, watching almost everyone play "bottom tier" characters ;). I believe the game is deep enough that it truly all depends on your skill. Maybe there are arbitrarily "better" characters, but no one will notice while you're beating them easily! That's what the game's mechanics allows for you. Anyone?

  • Tenryuu-retsu-kiba! gato owns nice ending.

  • As much as I like this video, I can't help but feel that this may possibly be scripted. I notice from playing a while that sometimes when the CPU wins, they continue to spam the overhead attack command after they win their match, which is what this Rock is doing in this video.

I defended this video as a real fight before but now I'm having my doubts.

  • It's a good observation, but I say you can't duplicate the *flow* of combat. These fighters LOOK very skilled and with a real great understanding of the flow of combat, which they use to great advantage (see counters etc). It's hard to define in words but I've seen plenty of high level tournament games of Street Fighter 3 Third Strike and these two fight in the same way as the best I saw there. Not AI I contend- real.

  • If it was scripted then it was scripted by professionals who know what a high-level match looks like.

    (It definitely wasn't AI.)

  • Agreed :)

  • @nuslliw u have a point, the overhead spam attack is a cpu thing.

  • how do u play online?

  • search "ggpo" and "2df" with google

  • thanks.

  • Amazing ending.

  • Ha ha. The final exchange was genius! Decoy > feint > super > cancelled by higher priority

  • Yeah, you really gotta appreciate the attempt by Rock. Gato counters with d+AB which I believe has upper body invincibility.

  • What I don't understand is how Rock cancels those far Ds at 0:12. I thought that wasn't possible, and I haven't been able to reproduce it.

  • The player cancelled the far D with one of Rock's feint moves (f+AC or d+AC).

  • Are there some normals that can be cancelled into feints but not specials? Regardless, I still can't get the far D to cancel into anything. Did the properties of some moves change between ports?

  • I tried it out, and it is possible to do far D, d+AC, whatever if the opponent just defended the far D in mid-air. It also seems to work if it's blocked/JDed on the ground.

I don't think it's a cancel because far D isn't cancellable...more like negating the recovery frames of the move or something.

  • That's fascinating, I had no idea a move's properties could change depending on what state the target is in. I wonder if there are any other normals that do something similar.

  • OMG. Rock messed you up at 1:42-1:45 . That move was sick!

  • I think this game is underrated if snk just make the kof series with this type of gameplay or so it would improve them so much, cos in garou there are no handicaps(well just a little small details but you can't say 1 character has an upper hand here, its all on your ability),the only thing I don't like its kinda slow sometimes and DMs take too much energy like in all snk games.

  • I agree. The just defend system would be a great addition to KOF in my opinion.

  • They did the JD system in Neowave, but nobody really appreciated it

  • rly? i should check that

  • Are people honestly so stupid that they think that tiers are a deliberately added mechanism to fighting games?

  • actually the two greatesT game fightin 2d are GAROU AND STREET FIGHTER 3 3RD STRIKE

  • Intense intense INTENSE. GREAT MATCH N A GREAT FINISH. Action at it's best. 10 stars.

  • q nivel tan genial

  • hey, the song on this stage.....

    awesome. just awesome :D

and good match, maybe i'll start playing this game

  • If you like the sountrack try listening to Children by Robert Miles.

  • i ve just realized that before read the comment

    but

is this game sampling robert miles or viceversa??

  • The game obviously!!!

Robert Miles wrote that song in 1996 and this game was released on 1999.

  • that bugged the shit out of me.

i can't believe they just lifted it.

  • That was an Action Packed Match!!!

  • The music is Spread the Wings, and it's a remix from Children by Robert Miles.

Outstanding video!! Both players are very skilled, and this match shows why Garou is the best fighting game ever.

  • what is the name of the song? it's great! rock and terry are the best in the game..

  • its Robert Miles children. the one in the game is obviously a remix, but still excellent

  • that was awesome. 2 of the best characters!

  • whos playin?

  • this BGM is Children from Robert Miles ??? o.O

  • The refrain is the same, yes.

  • yes its rock's song

  • that was a very close match.

  • woa im getting huge deja vu, you guys are freaking me out

  • Damn...Rock got his ass handed to him in R3....mad skills in this vid =)

  • Man, I've gotta play Garou again.

It's nice that a lot of those combos are actually conceivable to do, unlike high level MVC2 or GGX/ combos. Helluva game, Garou is.

  • Word. One of the things that bugs me about Guilty Gear is the technical demands of it. Many people cry out, "Well, you're just a loser noob who doesn't want to take the time to learn how to play!" But some modern serieses, like GGXX/ and Melty Blood, go too far. They strain under the weight of their own system, and become bogged down with the sensory overload that their options create. Garou, however, has an intuitive, simple system that meshes well with the player.

  • Yeah man, it's a great game that plays like a dream and isn't a science. Don't get me wrong, guilty gear is great, but it's nice to play something that is solid, easy, and fun once in a while. SNK certainly provides that.

  • ... Melty Blood does that? >>;

  • Melty Blood isn't too bad as far as an overload of options, but they have a "turn any standing punch into a 14-hit combo FTW" cancelling system which makes everything rather ubiquitous (to me) though.

I guess I shouldn't really be complaining about crazy combos watching this, thought. 0:44-0:50 Gato combos off of a counter move. Now that's new.

  • Well thats because you aren't willing to put the time in to get good at them. But so what? Its not your bag and thats perfectly. I respect GG but i don't have the time or the drive and will to get good at it. No big deal, the scene is small anyway. Garou has a good solid system and is fun to play so have at it. Who cares what everyone else thinks.

  • Totally agree with Fisticuffs

  • Gato it's the law, there should be a monument and a movie about him,:p,motw its the most balanced game I've seen of snk,no character has advantage, unlike kofXI wich its its just oswald, duo lon,and ash, suck.

  • That ending was unbelieveable. Excellent quick thinking on Gato's part.

  • @ below gee thx for the spoiler

  • lol rocked died doing his super move....so gay..

  • This was played on the PS2 version, actually, which has an increased game speed compared to the other versions.

  • nope in ps2 version, "Just Defend" doesn't appear when it happens

    Its the arcade

  • The version of MOTW they are playing is on either an AES or MVS system with a Unibios with 2 cheats activated, No hit stop and Action speed up. It's obvious because I played it the same way and its the same.

  • If you can master JD (and Guard Cancel) then you have pretty much mastered the game. JD is what separates the average player from the pros.

  • NOOOOO, I cant believe Rock lost like that at the end but that Gato's job in real life must be a robber cuse some of that shit is arrestable

  • Hahaha, here comes the noobs crying about staged fights because they suck so much and can't believe anything is possible outside their shitty skills. Apparently cancelling moves looks like editing to them.

However, I have to say that JD is a little harder to do than parrying especially for people on the offensive. But this is what makes people who can do lots of JDs that much cooler. (Plus, you don't see these guys JD'ing as much as pro SF3 matches anyway.)

  • im sorry but

what the hell is a JD

im new in this game i just downloaded it from XBL

  • Just Defense (block JUST before an incoming attack hits you). Garou's response to the parry in SF3.

  • High level play like this is normal at arcades, namely the asian ones, like the one I go to.

Just defended.. same shit as parrying.. have you even seen the 3rd strike Daigo parry? Try staging that.

Fighting game newbs shouldn't talk. Go back to playing marbles

  • It might be staged but not because they are JDing almost everything. JDing is actually easier to do than parrying...in fact, they could have JDed more than they did. It is very easy to air JD multi-hit moves and they screwed up those JDs.

  • Any proof of that?

  • para flipar

  • Robert Miles rules

  • O.o Did anyone catch the melody of "Children" in the background at one point?

  • D:{ @ that last attack

  • This match is sick, Gato's counter-attack at the end caught me by surprise.

I love that Rock combo at 00:52.

  • oops, i mean that finish at 00:56

    :-D

  • Crazy combo!!! :D

  • What the hell? These guys must be world class or something

  • Gato is best!!!!

  • who the hell is that Rock for real, anybody know ?

  • unrelated comment:

    ARE U OKAY? BUST WOLF.

  • Greatest special evar

  • haha mini daigo moment near the start, anyways great match video

  • how do you do the shoulderblock gato does?

  • his punch super?

  • Shoulder block: Hold Down + AB

Earth's Wrath: f, d, df + AB (do this 3 times, must have 2 power stocks. the 3rd hit is when the actual "flash" appears)

I still can't believe the finish. This gets my vote as one of the best matches ever.

  • Wow.... Wowwy wow wow wow. That is absolutely incredible.

  • Smooth! Very beautiful. Round 4 is my favorite. Rock's the man.

  • Gato rules!!!!

  • WOOW !! awesome fight !! and surprise end :)

    excelent !
