did the helicommand do the landing on your last portion of the video? did the heli command did the recovery for you during your nose in attemp? Thanks
if i am doing a fast nose dive to the ground from 30 feet up, would HC help me re-stablize it before it hit the ground? Also, what is the effective height? thanks
Helicommand always seems to raise questions about whether you're really learning to fly. I've found it invaluable, as I can switch it on and off from my radio, so if I get into trouble, I can just switch it on again. Even with it on, you still need to 'fly' the thing!
Depending on the heli you're using, you may want to look at the HC Profi, as I think that has altitude hold too. I have a 3D, and it certainly helps with making it a much more stable camera platform.
It works by having your cyclic servos connected via the Helicommand. It has motion sensors inside and a downward facing camera. If it detects movement in any horizontal axis, it moves the servos to correct it and keep the heli level. It has no control over height, and you can configure it to let you have as much manual control of the heli as you like. It's helped me learn and kept up my enthusiasm and reduced my crash count :-)
To be honest, I'm not a good enough pilot to have ever tried it! I know for certain that the 3A version doesn't, and as the camera would be pointing to the sky while inverted, I can't see how the positional mode could work. If I get any better and try it I'll let you know.
As you so rightly say, crash count=money count :-)
to fly inverted you would need to be in the horizontal mode mate (yellow) on a helicommand 3d it doent use the camera in this mode and just help to level you off while upside down ;) and i think helicommands are brilliant :) coming from a person who actually went out and bought one instead of just running it down :D dont get the sparton api2000 or fma copilot after getting one of these though or you might think they are abit crap (yes i have them aswell so know what im talking about)
veeeery god choice bruv :D dont care what all the haters want to say it is one of the best things i have ever bought for my rc heli's :D and i think ive learnt loads over time because of the added confidence and better flying characteristics in wind you'l see what i mean soon enough :D
Sorry but I agree with asphyx9, if you can't hover then what do you want to do next ? helicommand seems to be a way to slow down your learning rather than your advancement. Just a personal view point, no disrespect intented. sorry.
Very cool stabilization system. However, don't you prefer to actually "fly" your 450 - you know, using those two sticks on your radio to stabilize rather than a computer doing it for you?
Ignore the non stab haters, they just pissed cos they laernt the expensive way lmfao at those haters

Yup. infact it will save your heli. it also has fail safes so if your engine cuts out it can be programmed to autorotate without your imput..

Just found the 3D version will help inverted and will do altitude as well.

Nice one, I don't care about the 'ethics' of using HC, I'm looking at AP & FPV video surveilance, so looks ideal.
