Bottom line - if you want to provide healthcare to people currently uninsured - SOMEONE will pay for it and tha means people working will be taxed / charged more. I do not want to pay for someone to get a free ride as healthcare is not a right guarenteed by the constitution and if someone is seriously hurt, they get seen today in our emergency rooms. We need an ethic in this country that encourages everyone to work and row their own boat.

amen dkinau ... the health care industry is already regulated by the insurance industry - who make huge profits - and require the delivery of less and less service. Nationalize the Insurance Industry - for health care, homeowners, auto and America will be much better served. Take the Profit out Insurance!!! and the service will improve and the costs will go down!!
profit is a result of incentive to gain employees through superior service, just as the incentive in an olympic race is to win the gold medal. if you restrict all the runners in that race to run the same speed so that they all run as slow as the slowest runner, and they all get the same tinfoil medal, then there is no incentive for them to strive higher. so by taking profit out of an industry there is no way to improve service and youll have to create a price ceiling to lower price = shortages.
seriously? This is why we just ranked 48th in Education, the landed gentry scares old people and ultra-Conservatives with misinformation like this video. API will never be the Heritage Foundation - ever.
The "too cheap" part you refer to is when discussing the issue from how it appears on the consumer end "relative to" immediate insurance costs. With govt. care there is the illusion of cheap healthcare because we won't pay for it as directly as we do with insurance. If everyone's already paying for govt. healthcare through taxes, why spend even more money on private insurance? Overall govt. health care costs more but creates the illusion of "free" or "cheap" in the market.
America undeniably has the greatest health care available in the world. There's a reason that dignitaries from around the world travel here to have operations done. There's a reason that the wait time for operations in America is the lowest in the developed world. And there's a reason that Americans aren't euthanized by rationing at the age of 65. All of these things exist because America has the greatest health care available in the world. Period.
@billkinca, Best in the world? The WORLD health organization says it is #37.
The excuse that some Canadians are sent for specialized operations is lame at best. MANY Americans go to Mexico for affordable health procedures, does that make the Mexican health care better than the American?
Assuming we want to have a real conversation here, this does bring up the question of "what makes for good health care?."
So far everyone's kinda talking past each other. "It's not the best b/c there's already rationing." "It is b/c existing problems obviously don't make it 'worst'." "It isn't b/c ppl here go elsewhere for cheaper treatment." "It is b/c ppl from countries come here for the best treatment."
They're all kinda true. Unf. everyone's trying to beat the other w/a 300 char. proof.
People go down to Mexico and other South American countries because procedures cost about 1/10 = 10% yes, one tenth of the price here. Europe costs 1/3 to 1/5 of the price here.
The police department and the fire department are almost 100% government, they are not in the constitution.
Higher Education (universities) are an example of a mixed system where public compete with private, you still pay to go to a state school; if you have the money you pay for private.
First off, a team of doctors will be chosen by others that have the experience, judgment, and wisdom in the medical field to head up a board to oversee the heath care system, and the public will have choice to keep their current provider of heath insurance. That makes this plan better than any other country's.
B.Obamas Health Care Legislation.... Will it save american voters. .? American view points are important!! Check out my youtube profile and learn how

0:26 "no one would disagree that the United States currently offers the best health care in the world"
I DISAGREE.
And so does the majority of American.
There is ALREADY rationing, it is imparted by health insurance companies and by individual's budgets.

I believe you may be confusing "the best available" with "perfection". It's not perfect, but it's the best in the world.

Onlyrey:
- The people who go to Mexico are going because they have been coerced from some 'doctor' that couldn't get licensed in the U.S.
- Housing is cheaper there too. Why don't you live there?
- I like it here and don't think National Healthcare is covered by the constitution.
