my band Special Duties supported Modern English loads of times in 79/80 including the Drowning Man/ Silent World 7" launch gig at The Rock Club in Chelmsford. Great days. They were better when they were The Lepers but they were seriously underrated.
The Rock Club, Chelmsford? Played there in '78. Good gig and fun but the promoter never paid us.......

Their 1st album was more interesting than their poptones. I saw them in Berlin in Oct. '83 & they still rocked

Is it the accent or is the sound a tamer version of Gang of Four? That said, I've never heard and kind of like it.
