This reminds me of Tom Platz the Anabolic diet. You eat low carb to zero for 5 to 6 days and have one day where you carb-up. Ric great vids, love them. Two quest, did you a lot of cardio before contest? Also does this hi fat/protein lo carb diet work for pre contest eating? I'm 52 and haven't competed in 22 yrs and want to get back to it and I'm having hard time getting my abs stage ready. Been doing the low fat, hi carb/protein but have plateued. So gonna try what you suggested.
Thanks again Ric, love seeing Robby and all the other classic BB's on.
I tried a bunch of of the issues explained here, however I must point out that absolutely nothing even compares to DietOramy eating plan in terms of well being and belly fat loss - search google, there is many no cost information...
My partner had complications with body weight for fairly many time now and she found many so referred to as DietOramy eating plan (google it) - she's had fairly a accomplishment with it so far, and physician says she is wholesome as in no way just before...
when you did the fish and carb diet and droped all the fats out, did that mean you didnt add any omega 3 capsules of any kind. Because I noticed before I saw your video for like 5 months all I ate was protein sweetpotatoes and vegtables with each meal and I got extremely lean as well and in my best shape ever and I didnt add any fats whatsoever to any meal, even though this is contrary to what the sposed experts say you need atleast a serving of essential fatty acids daily
I'm thankful for this, Ric. I've lost weight by doing this and maintaing muscle and strength. Actually, my strength has increased while on this High Protein High fat low carb diet. You do get a huge pump. lol
that was really interesting ,,i wish he spoke about that for hours and i think the 70s diet sounds much nice than this modern style where your life is taken over by really dry and boring meals
Your diet is 80% of what you look like.I eat clean most of the time and cheat,(junk day) only twice a month. If I ate like this,(what they did in the 70s) I would like a blow fish.I eat alot of fruit and I'm cut.It all depends on you body type. Each person is different.Very interesting. Thanks for the upload Rick.
Thank you so much for sharing this information. I'm not a BBer...just a regular guy who after losing 100+ lbs in my 20s and kept it off for many years fell off the wagon when I hit my 30s. I've tried so many diets...but researching natural BBers gave me the best info so far and over the past 10 months I've dropped from 250 down to 187 while also putting on a good deal of muscle. Most of what I've been studying is Gironda's methods...but man are they strict. Cont in part 2
Mostly his food combining and I've been doing the same as you talked about with fruit on an empty stomach and it has really helped my digestion. But the dairy and meat being a no no I still don't quite get and since you talked about combining those foods and I guess some people can. My body can't handle dairy so I use coconut milk and lots of eggs. I am curious to ask if you ever encountered any issues with combining proteins which Gironda seemed very against (he sounded like quite a character).
@edr777 Sound like you're on the right track and doing well. I'm happy to hear that and see someone reach their goals. You know now that you can do it.

Ric's Corner is quickly moving forward and looking to go to Cable. Production costs are rising as well as assistants and we work on donations only to keep it going. @ricdrasin What's your view on slow digesting carbs? Did you eat any. Also, were you a student of Vince Gironda, or worked out at his gym? Seems like all of you guys followed the same diet principle as him.
@ricdrasin Just one meal of oatmeal, or what? AS in rice you mean brown-rice? I'm asking because I want to try out the low carb high protein high fat diet. I just wanna' know if keep slow-digestive carbs under 100gs will keep me more leaner bulk to gain some muscle.
@ricdrasin Cable is backwards technology and a dying format to be honest. You can't share cable on your FB or or have access to on a mobile device or pull it up on a PC unless your Youtubing it. You all ready have 4000 subscribers, that is pretty amazing considering your meta tags are very limited, I found you when searching Robby Robson. You can do short video clips on current topics in BB. Talk about Synthohol, subjectivity of judges and the whole shebang.
hi rick nice video,it seems today supplements are taking over, alot of people prefer these to real food, some inmates in prison look good enough for competition stage and i cant see these guys taking supps, just a thought. keep posting ure great vids.
I believe that the bbing diet back then was a bit more strict in many ways (not all). Todays pro's can get away with so much more cheat meals and diet screwups due to substances like HGH and newly developed drugs that are used in the sport. Not trying to crtisise or lower the new bbers but today almost anyone can become a bber given the proper "tools" whereas back in the days more work-effort was required. I may be totally wrong here but I would like your response on this dear Rick :)
high fat, high protein and low carb = the most amazing bodies of bodybuilding history. Exactly the diet I follow and have gotten amazing results. Checkout the anabolic diet by Dr. Mauro DiPasquale or Ultimate Diet secrets by Dr. Greg Ellis. Fat all the way! Have a cheat meal once a week.
I love how Ric is recommending the most amazing diet that everyone should be following!
@JCMSolutions You're being to critical. I always take fiber as do many other bodybuilders on a daily basis and have for years. You have no idea what they did. And who are the experts? Look at some of them, most are unhealthy themselves. I"m 67 now and have had no health problems at all, BP, cholesterol, heart rate, etc all perfect. IN fact just had my eyes checked and they're 20/20.
Question: I'm 6'5" 195 and would like to put on 15 to 20lbs. Everyone is telling me I need to be eating tons of carbs. Your diet is protein/fat meals with zero carbs except
for some veggies. So I should just eat high calorie protein / fat meals to gain weight??
@543564356 You should be taking in more calories to gain the weight. I don't get zero carbs but lower carbs. I don't go overboard if I see fat appearing
@543564356 You need some carbs. I never went zero carbs, but low carbs to stay in shape all year round. Gaining weight wasn't the object, The object is to put on lean hard muscle mass without getting fat. When you gain a lot of weight quickly, it's usually fat and then you have to lose it.
@MrAbsboy Fish, lunch and dinner, with a very small bit of rice, brocolli and cottage cheese. If I had simple carbs it was fresh fruit eaten alone in the middle of the day. Worked great.
hello mr drasin i notice how much better a physique looks when there is less weight/fat which brings me to my question about mr. schwarzenegger when he starred in predator. what type of nutrition/exercise did he follow to get down to 195lbs and what type of maintenance exercise/nutrition protocol does he follow? thank you
i am confused .. ric you told me you did not eat the yolk but in this video you say you did eat the yolk... and you have not answered me what you think about modern view on eggs either..
can you be specific about what fats i should eat from what?
i dont eat bread . i agree its too much sometimes.. but i do eat potatoes in lmited ammount because i think its less corn
Hey Ric, great video. I was wondering, did guys in the 70's eat more carbs in offseason.. or do you mean that they ate low carb all the time? You said fats are used for energy.. so is it possible to build muscle at a descent rate while eating mostly fats and proteins?
@SWGBG There really was no off season.. we tried to stay in pretty good shape all year. Maybe inbetween contests more carbs but not an over amount. When you eat carbs, cut the fats, when you increase fats, cut the carbs but always keep protein high
Wanna know why humans are supposed to reach an age somewhere between 110 and 154? And why humans ought to have a body fat percentage between 3% and 5%? (women around 8 tot10%)
Wanna find out why? Do you wanna find out why every single species on this earth eats raw?
Go to my site, to profile, on the left side and find out.
I’m not selling anything. Not now, not next year, not never!! Only wanna spread the word, of the new revolution that is coming. The revolution of self care.
@ricdrasin hahahaha! way cool! i will remember you when i do it!
what do you think about protein powders? as you know i am super natural ... i dont even take aspirin .. before i get the fever high! i lift hardcore.. HIT and i works..
what do you say about protein powders and do you think its worth putting it in your body and is it truly natural? and healthy? i have been takin gthem i am not unfamiliar with them
@TheRogueMonk I talk about that in all my videos. You just have to watch them without repeating myself. yes, I take them. They work and they help me..
@ricdrasin sorry i have been busy , i accidentally came over your awesome video! i had no idea ..
i will try to find the egg related videos for you about how good egg is "atelast they say" ... i have no tbeen able to take a real conclusion despite those videos.
@AIMANALI I really have no idea what he did as far as junk. He's Italian so pasta and rich foods are normal for him. We used to like to do the HOuse Of Pies on Sat night
@AIMANALI well all these things he is telling you to eat should be awesome to start with and if you discover you need more carbs you can gradually ad it to your diet.. the point is to get the nutrient you need to grow .. its scientific and natural dont go about it with a pen and paper and make it about numbers! that really is hurtful with todays diet tips.. this video is much more sane then your avrage magazine
I have learned so much from your "Ric's Corner" video's than I have in 30+ years of reading books and magazines on diet, lifting etc... ) This info is "PRICELESS!" Man, thank you so much Ric. I feel like a thief, getting all this incredible info for free.
This guy is one of the most down to earth, true talking people I've ever come across. What a guy. man would I love to of lived in the 70s world of Bodybuilding. It's my favourite look of the Bodybuilding world. Arnold, Sergio, Draper, Pearl... All those guys bodies are awesome and what I strived to look like. I'm 19 now and won 5 BBing competitions over here in England. There's nothing more that I love than hitting the beach in summer with the lads every weekend and just hang out. Cheers Ric!
i knew bulking was a load of bull, and all this have to eat massive to get big, it' basics gotta consume just what your body needs, if you consume more you just get fat.
hi rick, i was wondering, when bodybuilders use low carb diets, what happens about ketosis? and also when you do low carb diets, doesnt your metabolism drop, hense the reason you made need maybe a high carb day or something.
hi rick, i was wondering, when bodybuilders use low carb diets, what happens about ketosis? and also when you do low carb diets, doesnt your metabolism drop, hense the reason you made need maybe a high carb day or something.
I have to tell you that you can weigh 280, run every day, build lots of muscle and eat a lot and be completely healthy. I have been doing a low carbohydrate diet for about 10 months. I have slowed down a lot since I've been getting pretty comfortable at this weight, but I have lost over 100 pounds. From just doing a ton of push ups every night (no weight lifting so far) I can easily do reps of my body weight at a counter corner in my kitchen. If I weight lifted with this i'd probably be huge.
@PairoftheSocks thanks for both of your comments. I don't exercise but my bmi is 35, so i am carrying a lot of fat. I'll take you suggestion and eat 20gm carbs per day and see how things go.
Ric mentioned that he cheated on sundays and indulged, would you suggest I do the same once per week?
Do you consume a lot of fats? if you eat only 20 gm carbs per day where do you get fuel for your muscles?
@ilovethechallenge Do not indulge for the first two weeks. And i'm not going to lie. If your body has never gone into ketosis before you are going to feel pretty crappy. Once you start adding more, and you feel you wont lose control (believe me carbs are actually addictive, its human), then i'd say you could have a cheat day once per week. Always keep your cheat before you exercise, its important that you teach your body that carbs are for burning, not storing. And finally, eat mostly fat.
@ilovethechallenge Believe it or not, body builders complain of losing definition from reduced water retention when there is a lack of carbs. However, your muscles are just as powerful when in full ketosis. Its essentially just an illusion for significant water drop when entering ketosis. When your body rebalances itself, you will notice that eating lots of fat and protein gives you all the energy you need. You will never feel hungry and always have plenty of calories to build muscle.
@ilovethechallenge And for the final 3rd response. If you can sustain a slow gain once you shed off all the un-needed fat, you can potentially get back up 230-250 with a lot of muscle. In my mind, its more important to be in shape then just skinny. Having a moderate amount of body fat and lots of muscle is far more indicative of high survival then being skinny without any fat reserves.
@PairoftheSocks wow thanks a lot for taking the time to go in such detail. much appreciated. i started eating mostly fats and proteins from last 2 days and i feel really angry and am in a bad mood most of the time. feel like ripping someones head out, but i'm gonna keep on going till the carb addiction is over. The great thing is my head is clear and i dont feel all that lazy and lethargic. i really think this might be the one diet plan that actually works.
@ilovethechallenge If you decide to go off the diet, and eat the way you ate before, dont be suprised if you gain it back as fast as you lost it. Because if eating that diet got you that way, its going to get you that way again.
@ilovethechallenge Eat more fat and protein when you feel angry. I know that you will feel like your spending more on food than you have before, but quality food in high amounts is expensive nowadays. I ate a 3500 calorie meal in one hour (a stack of hamburger patties, cheese and mushrooms) and I still had lost weight over the night. Its amazing that your body knows when storing fat is pointless in a fat rich environment.
@PairoftheSocks Its been one week and i've been following ur suggestion. my daily consumption of carbs is below 10 gms and I have dropped 6lbs so far. I plan to continue on this diet cause it works and i feel better than ever and have more energy. Thanks for your suggestion. God Bless.
@ricdrasin Thank you for posting this video without which i would have never know how to really loose fat.
@ilovethechallenge I think a thing that we can learn from eating this way is that humans are designed to eat food. But there is nothing saying we have to be deadly obese as a result. If the diet works for you, then you are probably eating close to what your dietary dominant ancestors ate. The diet works extremely well for me and my dietary ancestors were Native American. Without this diet I would have diabetes by now.
@PairoftheSocks I think your completely right. I'm reading Why We Get Fat by Gary Taubes and he gave actual example of the Pima, a native american tribe in Arizona. The Pimas and plenty of game to hunt and eat before the 1850's. Anthropologist who visited the tribe noted they were lean and healthy and lived in abundance. But after being introduced to the white american diet during the gold rush, within 50 years they got obese even during times of famine.
Hey Ric! love the channel. I have a quick question, and was wondering if you can help. Im going to try and eat like the 70s bbers, because the whole high carb bulk diets add too much fat to my physique. How big were the portions of eggs, beef, chicken, and tuna did you guys used to eat? as well as the cottage cheese? since you guys didnt eat any carbs, i can only imagine the protein portions were atleast 10ozs+
@ricdrasin hey Ric first of all its an honor to be talking to you and i have a quick question also, im 15 years old and i started bodybuilding when i was 13 but then stoped untill now...how many min or hours would you say is suitable for me to workout?
I really need some advice. I'm 5"11, 270lbs and morbidly obese. I've been on may diets and not lost weight. I was so surprised when u said carbs make u fat.
1. can i cut out carbs completely from my diet and loose weigh.
2. I love sour cream and full cream, can i add these to high protein diet n not get fat.
3. what exercise should i do to loose weight while i eat high fats and proteins.
@ilovethechallenge If its the first time eating as some call "paleo" or low carb. "Paleo" tends to allow more carbs at first, but there both technically low carb. You should probably start out at no more than 20g for 2 weeks of carbs. I have lost a 100 pounds and am now at 280. Now, considering you feel morbidly obese at 270, it sounds like you have too much fat. Because I can tell you that being able to run 5 miles, and build a lot of muscles at 280 means i weigh more than you and am not obese.
Hey ric forgive me if I missed it, but I've watched a very high number of your vids and enjoyed them all. How much cardio did u guys do? Other then beach trolling. Do u think it's necessary? Thanks in advance
Hey Ric, this might be unorthodox, but would you consider making a video about the usage of steroids and the different types/dosages that were used in that era? While not necessarily mentioning any name in the process but for the most part a generalization.
Hey Ric. I am a big fan of the 70's bodybuilding. But i have a question, my buddies take suplements to gain muscle. I've been working in the gym for about a year and never used such thing. Are those supliments good for your health, do you recomend ? Or should i train as trained before without any of those things ? Thanks.
i love the mental image i have of loads of bb's running in all you can eat restuarants with there gym bags filled with foil haha absalute classic!! i would of done the same! wish i had some all you can eats near me!! :)
Great Video...70's had real gyms..not the Fitness Spa's u see today...I especially liked the machines back then..I used a couple when i went to high school in the early 90's and they were old then...lol (BUT GOOD!!) you should do a video on old school equipment..like a lot of the plate loading machines
Any way to get more exposure as an amatuer bodybuilder? I am looking to compete within the next year, as I smooth out a few weak points. Unfotunarely I have a lot of height to fill out (I'm 6 3), weighing in at around 245. Much appreciated....
At the end when you talk about us going back in time for 1 week and and training and just loving that cali 70s life style, I closed eyes put my head back and day dreamed for about 30 seconds, How great would that be!!!!!!!!, Oh well back to my shitty job in the crap economy, Keep the vids coming Ric, I need them. Thanks.
i think these guys worked so hard that the fat was not a problem and that there whole day evolved around physical activity - beach etc....so they used up all the excess
Hey Ric your videos have helped me out so much! I've always been a fan of the 70's bodybuilder symmetry and am working towards that form! One question I have about you guys back then is how much extra weight did you put on offseason? If you guys had an offseason! Thanks man have a good one!
Great video Ric! ? In your opinion which is better for fat loss? Low carb or low fat? U said your best shape ever was low fat, but low carb was the diet all the greats used. Thanks in advance for your response!
hey ric i'm 29 years old i've been a wrestling, bodybuilding fan seems all my life.. Hulk Hogan musclar powerful build as a child left me in awe, then arnold! when i started working out myself in 1994 Dorian Yates was Mr.O and i've been a follower of his training for a long time.. we perhaps we have alot in common.. i bet i'd really enjoy a conversation with you.. i love your videos pls keep'em coming i learn so much from you
A few more questions if you don't mind. Have any of your students you have in your training agency that do indy and bigger shows. Have any of them made it into the WWE? And I'm going to have to look up some wrestling schools around my area, or head down to where your wrestling place is (If you don't mind) Or go to FCW in Florida or CCW in North Andover. I will need help along the way, if you could, what would be like a walkthrough that would work for me to get into your program and into the WWE?
I'm going to have to search for a wrestling school around where I live, but when I'm 18 or so, I'm probably either going to come down to your wrestling place (If okay with you) or, head down to North Andover to join CCW, or go to FCW in florida. But my question for the FCW Training Area, again in your opinion of what you know about this. How old you have to be to join the FCW roster and the school they have down there and also does your training place cost anything to join?
Mr. Drasin, in your opinion. If I wanted to get into the WWE, and live in Massachusetts , what would you suggest I do? I am 6'1 and 189lbs. If you could respond It'd be very much appreciated. Thanks for reading.
@therockerofwwetube You have a long long time to go. You have to be 21 to get into WWE and it's very hard to be accepted unless you have at least 2 to 4 years of Pro training and a height of 6'2" minimum 225 lbs of muscle. Find a pro school near you and start classes and see where it goes. My students do Indy shows locally until they're ready to try out for something bigger. But it's a long hard road and very few make it.
Actually, that makes sense. If you want a muscular physique then you obviously don't want to be storing energy from carbs on your own body. It's better to get the energy from an external source as you need it. I don't do weights, but my diet is like a bodybuilders diet lol. It's just the way my taste buds go. I've always been very muscular without doing weights, but now I am 34 and (since 30) I've started to put on weight (fat), so I am considering lifting some weights to make up for the ageing.
@paulioj101 Never counted calories, just watched carbs. Much easier that way. But, I think if I had, I probably should have increased my calories a bit. I never seem to get enough.
@ricdrasin Cool, many of todays pro's just watch the carb intake. It's amazing to think that back then not many people relied heavily on supplements and yet they had the best physiques of all time. Just goes to show that nothing can beat quality whole foods!
This is great! I eat all those foods you mention. I only take a whey protein shake directly after both my workouts 6 days a week, for fast intestinal absorbtion and that is Jarrows natural whey, nothing artificial. Old school is the way to go! I was born in 77' (ironically the same year as Pumping Iron release LOL) but wish I was 30 back in your day! I still work out at Muscle Beach on weekends and wish I could have been there man. You and Arnold and Draper, Waller, etc. were the men! =D
@TheFame5000 Did really bulk up because all the weight you put on, you have to take off again and it gets harder. Just increased the calories a little bit. Some guys did gain a lot of weight but then had to cut all that fat. It's a lot of work.
Dude very, very interesting! I always wondered what food bodybuilders ate back in the 70's. Everyone these days focus on all the supplements they can get their hands on, but in reality REAL food is the way to go for your best Amino's and Proteins etc..Great job Ric!
thanks fir this vid, i Train 3 days on 2 days off, deit has alway been a problem for me. So this vid clears it up. I take vit E fir recovery and protien drink, anything else i can use. I also use omaga 3 to help with me fats. still a little confussed on good fats but it will come as i learn. thanks again
That was exactly what I was wanting Ric! Perfect, that interests me very much. I eat much the same way when staying lean now. I actually feel better on lower carb/ high protein than small amounts of carbs/low fat. Thanks again!
Common sense dictates to avoid extremes. I don't understand how a bodybuilder would avoid carbs, you wont have any energy and would have a shitty workout. Granted for extreme pre contenst I understand but other than that it is really bad idea.
Man you guys had it together back then, too much thinking is involved now, everybody wants supplements, and quick fixes. Hit the gym, eat what you need and if you are training like crazy your body will crave the food. Get your lazy butts in the kitchen and prep your meals and train

@UIsTall The only one that I use would be oatmeal and maybe a little rice. You're body needs that so don't be afraid to have some
ricdrasin 3 months ago
@ricdrasin Just one meal of oatmeal, or what? AS in rice you mean brown-rice? I'm asking because I want to try out the low carb high protein high fat diet. I just wanna' know if keep slow-digestive carbs under 100gs will keep me more leaner bulk to gain some muscle.

Ok I get the 70's bodybuilder diet but what about FIBER??
For optimum health you need 30 to 35 grams of fiber a day. Experts say the average American gets about 12 grams of fiber a day.
Looking at the diet you just layed out you were probably getting less than 10 grams per day.
Unless I am missing something it does not sound like a very healthy diet??
You guys must have been constipated big time!!!!
Would like to hear from you on that.
By the way I like your channel.....
JCMSolutions 7 months ago
@JCMSolutions You're being to critical. I always take fiber as do many other bodybuilders on a daily basis and have for years. You have no idea what they did. And who are the experts? Look at some of them, most are unhealthy themselves. I"m 67 now and have had no health problems at all, BP, cholesterol, heart rate, etc all perfect. IN fact just had my eyes checked and they're 20/20.
ricdrasin 7 months ago
@ricdrasin
Makes sense, gotcha!
So how many grams of fiber do you shoot for a day?
Also,
Are you taking a fiber supplement? If so, what kind?
Thanks for the sound advice Ric!
JCMSolutions 7 months ago
Hey Ric,
Awesome video and channel!!!!!!!!!!!!
Appreciate it Ric! Take care.....
543564356 7 months ago
@543564356 You should be taking in more calories to gain the weight. I don't get zero carbs but lower carbs. I don't go overboard if I see fat appearing
ricdrasin 7 months ago
@543564356 You need some carbs. I never went zero carbs, but low carbs to stay in shape all year round. Gaining weight wasn't the object, The object is to put on lean hard muscle mass without getting fat. When you gain a lot of weight quickly, it's usually fat and then you have to lose it.

Hey Ric, great video. I was wondering, did guys in the 70's eat more carbs in offseason.. or do you mean that they ate low carb all the time? You said fats are used for energy.. so is it possible to build muscle at a descent rate while eating mostly fats and proteins?
SWGBG 8 months ago
@SWGBG There really was no off season.. we tried to stay in pretty good shape all year. Maybe inbetween contests more carbs but not an over amount. When you eat carbs, cut the fats, when you increase fats, cut the carbs but always keep protein high

PairoftheSocks 1 year ago
@PairoftheSocks thanks for both of your comments. I don't exercise but my bmi is 35, so i am carrying a lot of fat. I'll take you suggestion and eat 20gm carbs per day and see how things go.
Ric mentioned that he cheated on sundays and indulged, would you suggest I do the same once per week?
Do you consume a lot of fats? if you eat only 20 gm carbs per day where do you get fuel for your muscles?
ilovethechallenge 1 year ago
@ilovethechallenge Do not indulge for the first two weeks. And i'm not going to lie. If your body has never gone into ketosis before you are going to feel pretty crappy. Once you start adding more, and you feel you wont lose control (believe me carbs are actually addictive, its human), then i'd say you could have a cheat day once per week. Always keep your cheat before you exercise, its important that you teach your body that carbs are for burning, not storing. And finally, eat mostly fat.
PairoftheSocks 1 year ago
@ilovethechallenge Believe it or not, body builders complain of losing definition from reduced water retention when there is a lack of carbs. However, your muscles are just as powerful when in full ketosis. Its essentially just an illusion for significant water drop when entering ketosis. When your body rebalances itself, you will notice that eating lots of fat and protein gives you all the energy you need. You will never feel hungry and always have plenty of calories to build muscle.
PairoftheSocks 1 year ago
@ilovethechallenge And for the final 3rd response. If you can sustain a slow gain once you shed off all the un-needed fat, you can potentially get back up 230-250 with a lot of muscle. In my mind, its more important to be in shape then just skinny. Having a moderate amount of body fat and lots of muscle is far more indicative of high survival then being skinny without any fat reserves.
PairoftheSocks 1 year ago
@PairoftheSocks wow thanks a lot for taking the time to go in such detail. much appreciated. i started eating mostly fats and proteins from last 2 days and i feel really angry and am in a bad mood most of the time. feel like ripping someones head out, but i'm gonna keep on going till the carb addiction is over. The great thing is my head is clear and i dont feel all that lazy and lethargic. i really think this might be the one diet plan that actually works.
thanks again and all the best to you
ilovethechallenge 1 year ago
@ilovethechallenge If you decide to go off the diet, and eat the way you ate before, dont be suprised if you gain it back as fast as you lost it. Because if eating that diet got you that way, its going to get you that way again.
PairoftheSocks 1 year ago
@ilovethechallenge Eat more fat and protein when you feel angry. I know that you will feel like your spending more on food than you have before, but quality food in high amounts is expensive nowadays. I ate a 3500 calorie meal in one hour (a stack of hamburger patties, cheese and mushrooms) and I still had lost weight over the night. Its amazing that your body knows when storing fat is pointless in a fat rich environment.
PairoftheSocks 1 year ago
@PairoftheSocks Its been one week and i've been following ur suggestion. my daily consumption of carbs is below 10 gms and I have dropped 6lbs so far. I plan to continue on this diet cause it works and i feel better than ever and have more energy. Thanks for your suggestion. God Bless.
@ricdrasin Thank you for posting this video without which i would have never know how to really loose fat.
ilovethechallenge 1 year ago
@ilovethechallenge I think a thing that we can learn from eating this way is that humans are designed to eat food. But there is nothing saying we have to be deadly obese as a result. If the diet works for you, then you are probably eating close to what your dietary dominant ancestors ate. The diet works extremely well for me and my dietary ancestors were Native American. Without this diet I would have diabetes by now.
PairoftheSocks 1 year ago

Hi Ric,
I really need some advice.
4. since i'm 270lbs, should i cheat once a week.
looking forward for your reply, thanks, tyler
ilovethechallenge 1 year ago
@ilovethechallenge If its the first time eating as some call "paleo" or low carb. "Paleo" tends to allow more carbs at first, but there both technically low carb. You should probably start out at no more than 20g for 2 weeks of carbs. I have lost a 100 pounds and am now at 280. Now, considering you feel morbidly obese at 270, it sounds like you have too much fat. Because I can tell you that being able to run 5 miles, and build a lot of muscles at 280 means i weigh more than you and am not obese.

I will need help along the way, if you could, what would be like a walkthrough that would work for me to get into your program and into the WWE?
therockerofwwetube 1 year ago
I'm going to have to search for a wrestling school around where I live, but when I'm 18 or so, I'm probably either going to come down to your wrestling place (If okay with you) or, head down to North Andover to join CCW, or go to FCW in florida. But my question for the FCW Training Area, again in your opinion of what you know about this. How old you have to be to join the FCW roster and the school they have down there and also does your training place cost anything to join?
therockerofwwetube 1 year ago
Mr. Drasin, in your opinion. If I wanted to get into the WWE, and live in Massachusetts , what would you suggest I do? I am 6'1 and 189lbs. If you could respond It'd be very much appreciated. Thanks for reading.
therockerofwwetube 1 year ago
@therockerofwwetube You have a long long time to go. You have to be 21 to get into WWE and it's very hard to be accepted unless you have at least 2 to 4 years of Pro training and a height of 6'2" minimum 225 lbs of muscle. Find a pro school near you and start classes and see where it goes. My students do Indy shows locally until they're ready to try out for something bigger. But it's a long hard road and very few make it.
Ric
ricdrasin 1 year ago
Actually, that makes sense. If you want a muscular physique then you obviously don't want to be storing energy from carbs on your own body. It's better to get the energy from an external source as you need it. I don't do weights, but my diet is like a bodybuilders diet lol. It's just the way my taste buds go. I've always been very muscular without doing weights, but now I am 34 and (since 30) I've started to put on weight (fat), so I am considering lifting some weights to make up for the ageing.

TheFame5000 1 year ago
@TheFame5000 Did really bulk up because all the weight you put on, you have to take off again and it gets harder. Just increased the calories a little bit. Some guys did gain a lot of weight but then had to cut all that fat. It's a lot of work.

lovesgibson 1 year ago
@lovesgibson You work hard in the gym for them and eat like my video says
ricdrasin 1 year ago
@ricdrasin cool, do you agree with eating 1 gram of protein for every pound you weigh?

Dude very, very interesting! I always wondered what food bodybuilders ate back in the 70's. Everyone these days focus on all the supplements they can get their hands on, but in reality REAL food is the way to go for your best Amino's and Proteins etc..Great job Ric!

Mr. Drasin, what was a typical pre-contest diet back during those days?
BeckerMaximus 2 years ago
That was exactly what I was wanting Ric! Perfect, that interests me very much. I eat much the same way when staying lean now. I actually feel better on lower carb/ high protein than small amounts of carbs/low fat. Thanks again!

These are really great, Ric. Thanks.

Common sense dictates to avoid extremes. I don't understand how a bodybuilder would avoid carbs, you wont have any energy and would have a shitty workout. Granted for extreme pre contenst I understand but other than that it is really bad idea.

That's just the way it was back then. You can't change history and we all had the bodies to show for it.
