  • I'm 13, I have a strong passion for dance and I train really hard for about 15-17 hours a week. My pointe-work is pretty good but i don't have very high-arched feet or much flexibility, do I have a shot at getting in?

  • Wow! This looks very impressive. I really wish I could afford this. Congrats to all who can

  • Hii :) Does anyone know of any ballet summer camps in South Africa ? Thanks x

  • Hi! first of all these dancers are just plain drop dead gorgeuos. Love them! So my question is.. I´m 17 and I´ve been doing ballett since 3 and a half years now, i´ve been on pointe since 2. Since about 2 years i have been training 5-6 times a week about 1 and a half to 3 hours a day... I know this is silly and impossible... but is there a chance that I can still become a dancer? And about this program, can you still attend when you are 18? Are they very picky about tecnique and so on? thanks

  • What level must you be to attend id love to have this experience im 15 but not on pointe yet

  • @frogsrock99 The expectation at our summer program is to be taking pointe class in Level IV (ages 12-13) and above. Talk to your teacher about when it's appropriate for you to begin pointe class!

  • @frogsrock99 i'm the same! ballet is my passion and i can't wait to get on pointe

  • I can't wait to join

  • I love this!!! can u imagine? ballet all day long! in summer! thats amazing!! I really want this I need to get it :') KEEP DANCING!

  • Quiero estar ahí .Pero estoy muy lejos :c

  • I really want to get into dance! however, I'm already 14, with no experience, and since I have 2 sisters that are going to college in the span of 2 years I don't think I'll be able to afford doing it :( But they are absolutely amazing! It brings me happiness to watch others do something that I can only wish that I could do. Good just anyone and everyone who dances!

  • how old are you supposed to be to take pas de deux classes in summer course?

  • @mariinskylover9 It all depends on your previous training, but at PNBS we offer pas de deux classes for Level VI-VIII (approx. ages 15-18)

  • is PNWB a college? because i have been dreaming of going to university of seattle but its very very very expencive....

  • @LuckyLoveProductions While our company dancers can attend the University of Seattle through our Second Stage program, the only classes we offer are ballet classes!

  • When are your summer auditions? My teacher wants us all in summer programs, and I think this one looks really fun and nice

  • @TheDaNcEr2303 The audition dates will be posted on our website before the month of November is over! Check back soon!

  • @pacificnwballet *UPDATE* Audition dates are posted on our website!

  • Do you take students from london? I quit ballet when i was young, im thirteen now and i really really want to go here! My parents said if i want to, am i dreaming?lol

  • @TaimaNaima We take students from all over the world! email: pnbschool@pnb.org and ask about submitting a DVD audition!

  • Would you tak ein students from Canada? Because this looks like an AMAZING program and I would love to get in!

  • @masha5maria1965 Why yes of course, we take students from all over the world!

  • Are there classes available for students in the mid-teen level for learning the fundamentals and begginer ballet? I did ballet for 2 years when I was very very young, and I would love to be able to go back to it :) Thanks!

  • lol.. he said "well lighted"

  • Amazing video, thanks!

  • I still wish I could dance like them, and not be an undancer with terrible turnout, weak ankles and no tour-abilty at all. Why can't I make 32 fouettes or a tenthquadraple pirouette? :( Though, this inspires me to train more and work much harder.

  • i will be 19 in feb next year. will i be too old? i really would love to audition. i am from sydney australia

  • @balletdancer247 We'd suggest contacting the school and asking about sending in a DVD--email: pnbschool@pnb.org

  • do you ever have cross-training camps for gymnasts/skaters ect. who study ballet to improve our sport performance? Ballet is a really popular cross-training method in a lot of these sports but studios tend to not have classes over the summer....

if you did offer such a camp next year I'd be like the first one on the sign up sheet!

  • @Sanchara As a pre-professional school, we unfortunately do not have any cross-training classes, however most studios will offer open classes for all levels throughout the summer. You should check those out, since yes it's true, ballet can be beneficial for all sports!

  • @pacificnwballet awe thats too bad :(

  • sims song :)

  • christina ricucci got accepted into PNB! you just know it's gotta be good....

  • What country is this in

  • How old to you have to be???

  • @eddiejulia Students must be between 12-18 years old!

  • would love to go here!!

  • ;-)

  • o tried out and really wanted to go but i did't make it ;[

  • i want to go sooooo bad!!!

  • REminds me of dance acdemy my fave shows :)

  • i wishhhhhh i could attend the summer program! it looks amazing!

  • i'd love to do this!

  • @hrsdance 19 i've been there twice, yes being a top notch ballet intensive most of the girls have ballet bodies but not all. they appreciate talent, not a cookie cutter dancer. try your best and audition!!

  • @bobosqueakers Well. What a nice enlightening comment. Thank you for NOT reassuring me and NOT answering my question.

  • What type of dancer does pnb look for mainly? Do you have to have the "typical ballerina body" to get in?

  • Is it possible to be a ballet dancer if you start at 15?

  • @rasberryxoxo14 Of course it is! I didn't start until I was 14, and I'm now in advanced one ballet, and I've only been dancing for two years! I've already done 3 exams, grade 3 and 4, and Intermediate ballet. And I've got another one coming up in Easter. Definitely go for it, otherwise you'll regret not taking the chance!

  • @katiemaemwahahaha Okay I'll try! Thanks for replying!!

  • I'm thinking of auditioning next month.

  • do you have to have the typical "ballerina" body to be accepted?(small head long arms and legs, narrow hips etc etc?) or do you accept the majority?

  • @dancerprancer522 No, not at all. If you are talented enough, you'll get in!

  • how many years of pointe and just ballet in general do you have to have to be eligible for this summer course?

  • I'm 13, and I just got on pointe but im in Grade 1 (cecchetti syllabus) will I be able to audition ?

  • I loved PNB!! Amazing program!!!!! It has been my favorite so far!

  • I am 16 and have been doing ballet for 7 months, but i am going en pointe very soon, in less than a month. Is there a chance that I could audition and be accepted for this summer? I will be taking over 6 classes (more than an hour long) a week. What are your recommendations?

  • how old do you have to be to go and do you have to know how to do ballet already?

  • mrs. siegel is my teacher!! :)

  • I know one of the guys in this video :P.

  • I miss this school ): I think i was in the same level as Harrison when I left "/

  • i really enjoyed this prgram. i would definitely recommend it to others :)

  • I'm going this summer! i can't wait!

  • wow! i'm speechless! i wish that i could do that every summer!

  • what does PNB look for?

  • I would love to go to PNB! I love ballet and I hope to be a proffesional someday. PNB looks like the perfect place to go!

  • i love PNB! i danced there for almost seven years until i moved from the seattle area. the teachers are amazing

  • I know that you have to be a very strong technical dancer to go to PNB, but do you have to have perfect turnout? Do they look for the pirouettes starting a straight back leg?

  • You don;t have to have perfect turnout, but you need very good turnout. And yes, they do look for pirouettes with a straight back leg.

  • thanks for the info!

  • turn out is always important, it doesn't have to be PERFECT though. and pirouettes are straight back leg with a large 4th.

  • I miss this amazing place so much. My summers and then winters here have helped shape who I am today as a person. As a wife, mother, teacher, friend. Having also spent 2 winters at SAB, I love to recommend PNB to young aspiring dancers.

PNB, i my experience, nurtures the entire dancer. Her emotional, mental and physical health matter to the teachers. Plus the training is the best in the country IMO.

    Blessings to you all!!!

  • Would you recommend this summer course as a first summer program to do away from home? I'm 15 and I've never done an intensive away from home, and I'm looking for one that would be good for this summer. Thank you!

  • I went to PNB two years ago and I definitely recommend it as your first summer intensive! It was my first one, and they kept a good eye on you but let you do your own thing too. It was so nice and the city is very pretty. And, most importantly, the training is some of the very best! :)

  • looks like a great program !

  • this looks like an awesome program

  • PNB is one of the few schools in this country that employs a written syllabus, based primarily on Balanchine technique (especially with regards to an emphasis on speed and clarity and certain adaptations such as pirouettes from a deep lunge, back leg straight, etc). Its founder, Francia Russell is a former NYCB soloist and NYCB ballet mistress who stages Balanchine's ballets all over the world and, along with Kent Stowell, was heavily influenced by him (same goes for Boal of course).

  • I have gone to PNB for 5 years now and it is an amazing place to study! There summer course is so fun! you meet so many new people!

  • Dear DancerActor101,

I went to the audition in Chicag o and had Peter Boal as the instructor. i was really nervous but i got into level 6!! The audition was just like a regular class, we did Barre and Center with like 30 minutes en pointe. I heard beck about 1 week later. Did you end up going to the audition? Did you get in? What level?

    From,

    SarahandSamara07

  • go to pnb!! i've told all my friends all year long to audition!! i LOVED it!!

  • Aww I saw myself in the video haha

  • Does anyone know what the audition process is like to get into the summer intensive?

  • yeah! i went there! i'm in the video in the background for like, .5 seconds actually, haha. go to their website and they have a list of cities that you can go to to audition. i think it's seperated by age if i remember and 15(?) and over have to have their pointe shoes on the whole audition. it's an AMAZING summer intensive!

  • Is the audition hard?

  • The audition is a pretty normal class from what I remember, but I was also part of the younger group so I'm not sure how the older group's would be. I would be prepared to have a very solid adagio in center and move quickly in the combos after that. If you're in pointe shoes the whole audition you'll probably do some fouettes at the end. Either separate 16 fouettes or maybe piques from the corner into fouettes.

  • @vanillabean001 im going to audition with the younger group, do u think im going to need to do 16 fouettes on pointe?

  • This looks fantastic! If I ever find myself in Seattle... or in America, uberhaubt, I will visit them. This is like the American equivalent of the RBS or the ENBS or the Bolshoi or Vaganova. Wow! 5 stars!

  • no thats school of american ballet...

  • Dana Hanson studied at SAB during the year but would attend the summer intensive (along with lots of other SAB students) at PNB and was in my class before she was invited into NYCB. She's from the Seattle area and it's nice to see her teaching now at the school.

  • balletdancer16

This is the best summer program in the world! Everyone is encouraging and extremely helpful!

  • it really is a fantastic program, really beneficial. i've gone for 2 years, and really want to go back. :) everyone is really nice there, as well.

  • the technique is even better than u could possibly imagine from this video

  • it is i really love it there.

  • This looks like a great and well rounded program!
