  • why does the r142 make dat sound when its about to move

  • Actually, this train IS in Sevice - SCHOOL CAR SERVICE. The Apprentice Train Operator is practicing his starts and stops, and will continue to do so until he is ready for his Road Test.

  • @ERA3733 - Nope, seen this same set in passenger service before recording this, it did a Parkchester run then went out of service. This was not a school car set as this was taken during the Rush Hour.

  • @Caitsith810 The answer is that the train indeed performed a Parkchester round-trip, and then the Road Operator turned the train over to a Student and Trainer who had the assignment to lay up this specific train, making simulated Station Stops between Parkchester and Westchester Yard. When a crewman is assigned to School Car, he/she gets lots of different assignments designed to hone skills.

  • @ERA3733 - But arent you supposed to have another person in the cab with the student? Because I saw that same operator pull into Parkchester.

  • @Caitsith810 Actually, advanced students get to operate alone, with the Trainer sitting outside the cab in the closest seat. This way, the Trainer gets a chance to assess the skills of the student without hovering over the student, ready to jump in at the slightest mis-step. It is much less stressful for the student, and he gets to focus on his job in peace.

  • it looked like it was gunna fall over on that turn

  • what did it stop

  • i like how the R142A, train just slowly stop in the middle of the track =) love it

  • I think it stopped because of training, there was no signal directly in front of him and it looked like he stopped the train adjacent to the platform.

  • @cat4forlife NO-SOMTIMES ITS CUZ THEY SPAT CALLS-OR HE JUST DID IT FOR SHOW

  • These R142As sound like the Type 8's on the MBTA

  • no it stop because it was a traning driver there was no red signal

  • why it stop

  • Maybe because of the signal

  • maybe it was training

  • @bvestationfan

because of the signal, if it says stop the train driver should stop the train or the train emergancy brakes will go off

  • at 0:39 u can see there is no signal nearby

  • yea your right but they should be singnals near that station cause i live in that city And i see that most station have singals

  • the r142/142a always make that screaching sound when they leave.. the bearings need oil or something

  • what station was that?

  • That Station is Castle Hill Ave on the (6) line

  • lucky shot.

  • what was that laughing?

  • Honestly, im not too sure lol, I was too busy recording, I think someone almost fell on their ass and rokusix (see Description) started laughing.
