  • soso jemand deutsch

  • Zzzzz

  • Wilhelm Vordringer - they write in the subtitles!?!?!

  • Furtwangler is wielding the magician's wand, and he is tearing the music out of his own soul and out of the orchestra. Go and read how Furtwangler hypnotized his players and the public . You can certainly see these convulsions of soul and body in this video - just transcendent musicianship.

  • LOL Furtwangler looks like he is dead and Goebbels pulled a "Weekend at Furtwangler's" on the public.

It looks like he is being moved like a puppet on strings.

  • in this factury shown here were juifs as forced workers also.... who then died in concentration camps.... Furtwaengler knew this....

Furtwaengler did not put up other programs than german music? HE EVEN DID NOT RESIST WITH MUSIC !!! so lets stop defend the human being Furtwaengler ha wasn t that good, as we all have to accept he was a great conductor.

  • @Calvarienberg -I 100% agree. They were godlike in their awesome talent and he was below swine like.in his depravity.

  • good thing the Soviets did not catch him. He'd have been conducting the business end of a shovel in a copper mine until he dropped dead.

  • After the war, Yehudi Menuhin threw an arm around this titan of the music world, embraced him, toured with him. Von Karajan, Karl Bohm went on to highly successful careers despite having been actual Nazi sympathizers before and during the war, yet faced no such oprobium. A little balance, please!

  • Heil!

  • @kyrpap1981 No one known to history. He is simply a wounded member of the Wehrmacht. Goebbels wold always have hundreds of the wounded shipped in and place them in the front rows for these propaganda films.

    Sincerely,

    Tom David

    Minneapolis

  • HappyWandy457, an infected women with HIV desease - so was Germany infected with the Nazi Regime -may give birth a normal child (Furtwängler, so to say) and it could be nurished from its normal milk (music remains pure), so there is no whatever poison upon this great Master of the batoon layed at those terrible times.

    Hans Fröhlich - Germany

  • I like Wagner, German Shephards, and miniature Schnauzers, but these likes don't make me a nazi.

  • The workers look like they were bored and forced to listen to it. I pity them.

  • yea h he was swept by the waves, like Walter Gieseking.

BUT, there were true hero musicians who wouldn´t stand for Nazidom, Bruno Walter comes to mind..

What I mean is how you say in english eiher you are or you aren´t

to paraphrase George w. Bush and Shakespeare

  • Das waren noch anständige Deutsche!

  • Furtwangler was a gentleman. My mother was a soprano, who worked with him in the early 1930s, in Germany.

She told me "No way was my professor a Nazi!"...

My mom was Jewish. She loved to sing Wagner...

Just because Richard Wagner was a bit crazy... We can still enjoy his wonderful music.

My mother stayed in touch with Furwangler until his death. She had the utmost respect, for him as a human being, and as a wonderful musician.

    John Walden

(Son of Edith Samuels.. Later known as Mrs Walden)

  • is it directed by famous Leni Riefenstahl?

  • Furtwangler, who would be have been remembered as the greatest RECORDED conductor of all times had he managed to live into the stereo era was no Nazi; they appalled him. It is true that he saved many Jewish lives and careers. In retrospect even he admitted he should have left Germany in the 30's. But this is not the point-- his goal was to save Germany's greatest treasure, its classical music tradition, and this he did well, to our benefit today. (note, I am a Jew, half my family died in WW2)

  • @eddihaskell You are honorable!

  • What surprises me here is that you are having a discussion on whether or not Furtwängler was a NAZI. There was already a trial to decide that, and he was found innocent. He saved lives, as did Schindler, by employing Jews. What would you do, if you were a conductor under harsh circumstances.

  • @Chrystal58

None of these haters have a clue about WW2 and Furtwanglers part in it. They just want to shame and blame.

  • The way this video taken is also noticable: by a talent female director, pity that she worked for wrong person at wrong time...

  • No wonder the germans and austrians thought themselves better than the rest

of the world. What a heritage. Their great depression made ours look like a tea party. The people just wanted their liberty back and trusted the first prominant 'savior' that showed up.

  • fucking nazis

  • @muslit do yuo know what you say

Furthwängler was one of the greatest conducters

  • @jeanpaul20012

furtwangler is one of my favorites! but the nazis are still fuck-ups.

  • first of all I am not a frenchie but a member of that state who started the crime of fashism which ended in the holocaust and the destruction of european culture. You are a nazi ok your problem and your right to be, I am not and will never be. I dont support people who think it is right to kill other people as you do.

  • I hope that this Email has opened your eyes as mine and many others have been opened. I hope you have looked at this with an open mind, I know this is quite difficult to accept but it is nonetheless the truth and the truth is always harder to accept than the Lie. The Jewish Talmud(their holy book) calls non-Jews "Goyim" and describes them as Cattle, this is their view of us and they have treated us as such you and I both know we are not and by now we should both know who we are .

  • None of the audience has a smile on their face. This is pure propaganda of the Goebells style.

    Was Furtwangler a Nazi?

    \

I don't know, but his performances in 1953 mark him as one of the greatest conductors the world has ever seen.

His Beethoven's 9th at Bayreuth in 1953 has never been excelled.

  • no it is not FURTWAENGLER DID COLLABORATE FULLY WITH THESE SWINES

  • yeah thanks, thats funny because A.E.G made reel to reel tape recorders and microphones.

  • Danke Herr Furtwangler.

  • That's beautiful, thank You for upload, The German Character, in the middle of the war they are listening the language of the creation as Schopenhauer's says.

  • Reconnaître le génie allemand et ne pas apprécier le tam-tam africain c'est, pour vous, être nazi. Pour moi, c'est reconnaître la lente évolution des peuples dont vous êtes la preuve vivante.

  • Did you guys thought running away from Germany was easy? Or saying No, I don't like you Gobbles Mr. future child killer, I just leave to Switzerland.. He would have got shot like many others did. He just had to play the part and survive. You all would have. That was not a democratic, liberal regime. Any suspicion, wrong word from your mouth. You gold teeth were pulled, your hair was shaved to be sold, shoes and cloths removed and work till weak then gassed. No trace of body due to calcium hydrox

  • thats right but Furtwaengler had the possibility to leave but decided to stay!!! The same with Backhaus and Ewdwin Fischer. Cortot in Paris also could have gone back to his native switzerland. No there is no excuse for these bastards who did work hand in hand with Goebbels. Of course they did not like the Gestapo putting their nose into their private life. I respect the quality of these musicians but not the character of these musicians...

about the Holocaust we know a lot today.

  • espectacular!!! GENIAL!!! A MASTER !!!

  • NO HE WASNT THAT GOOD

  • " What we need is not division; not hatred; but love and wisdom, and compassion toward one another."

  • We need compassion toward one another.... no with people who just let the crime of holocaust happen you cannot have compassion.... it is impossible. I myself could never forgive my father who never did have any regret about what the nazis did. His only excuse was that they defended Germany from the russians. Thats it. What happend with their jewish collegues (he was doctor) he did never admit..No this nazigeneration is guilty with only few exceptions. They new all from "Main Kampf" what happened

  • furtwaengler did participe on the strategie of goebbels to help the fighters for the reich stand the inhuman efforts they had to give.... that was his crime to follow this mental ill till the end. it was a crime he did !!!!!!!!! Goebbels also was a loving heartful father for his children and then decided to kill them when his dream of the big reich was over....

my parents as lots of austrians and germans were convinced nazi and never wanted to see the reality of the crimes of this regime.

  • then he did great!

because they fought for a better world

With culture, arts, and white supermacy as it had all empires untill then

Europe 4 ever!europe is the world

  • you stupid guy sazying that they fought for a better world, if someone fights for a better world he does not exterminate people..... and then he does not collaborate with those who are exterminantig people.... if thats your vision of a better world you are not worth living in a free country....

  • a real musician has to have the courage to sacrifice his career when he sees that he serves the devil. there is no escuses for that. furtwaengler actively participated to the terror with very dramatic interpretations of the meistersinger and other works goebbels ordered to encourage the effort the german people had to give. See the poor guys faces in the AEG factory listening.... its heartbreaking to see those destroyed people , zombies listening.... also jews were forced to work there....

  • What is a waengler?

  • mein fuhrer, i can walk! -dr. strangelove-

  • :)))))))) yes the great peter sellers

  • One can call it nazi-propaganda, so what ? I call it an expression of a great people, proud and strong braving the storm of destruction. Furtwängler served mainly the german people, not the NSDAP, and after the WW2 he had to suffer a lot for this bravery. My greatest respect for this outstanding conductor.

  • That's too simple. Famous artists who stayed in Germany must have known Hitler's aims; noone forced them to serve the government, but they did. By the way: even Winifred Wagner helped jewish people (Hamann: Winifred Wagner oder Hitlers Bayreuth, 2003). But certainly she was a real nazi as far as ideolgy concerns. Furtwängler was not brave - brave were those who resisted in political actions.

  • The answer whether he was a brave man or not is depending on the view point of history. Probably your viewpoint is influenced by a guilt complex and you see "Hitler´s aims" how they were teached by the official writing of history and that is also "too simple" ( for me)

A man like Furtwängler, who engaged and protected jewish musicians in his orchestra, that´s not brave ?

  • The nazi's aims became very detailled in 1942. (You don't need a mathematical proof.) There were a few people who resisted against the nazi-dictatorship bravely. Some people were not resistors, but they protected jewish artists (even Winifred Wagner who certainly believed in 'nationalsocialism'). That is not the same as resisting explicitly against the nazi's political aims. When you have a jewish friend perhaps it is more probable that you have some humane feelings - that's not brave.

  • So I suppose the right thing to do was run away and bitch about it while pointing fingers from afar, kinda like you are now? Real brave man! You should get a medal.

Following your logic I must have more humane feelings than mother theresa given the amount of Jewish friends I have, so with that, whatever you retort with has automatically been thrown out the window.

  • I just saw your answer to kunnukun on youtube and I am shocked. Yes Furtwaengler should have told the whole world when playing at IG Farben factory about the holocoust which he could even see there as theu forced jews to work there before they were sent to concentration camp and gased. Yes I am shocked. And the whole world is shocked . You old nazi followers and full of hate against the jewish people let me tell you again that the whole world is looking at you and is shocked

  • The Jews have done all they can to demonize Nazi Germany and they always play the Holocaust card. They have turned the holocaust using the history channels and countless movies into a religion in which today you can deny Jesus Christ but you cannot deny the holohoax. In fact even revising or questioning the holocaust will land you in jail for at least 5 years in most countries in Europe. Over ten million Ukrainians died at the hands of the soviets prior to WW2 from forced starvation,

  • there are enough proof of the holocoaust now available !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! it is impossible to close the eyes and do as if it never did happen!!!!!!!!!!!!

those like you criminal lady with horrible criminal thoughts you will nevre open you eyes and admit the crime of Furtwaengler but thouse who are honest and have a clean heart we do see what did happen. you can go to hell with Furtwaengler you cannot change the history with your lies.

  • The Jews curse anyone who exposes Jewish criminology or their many historical hoaxes such as the exodus and the holocaust narratives. For 44 years after The Lavon Affair the jews slandered anyone who accused them of guilt as "fascist", "anti-semitic", "nazi", "liar", "jew-hater", "terrorist", "racist. Finally in 1997 the jews confessed their full guilt in The Lavon Affair which everyone knew anyway. Nobody has ever shown proof that the Germans ever had an extermination agenda directed at Jews

  • the fact that the commmunist sovjets were criminals too does not change the crime of the nazis. don t forget thaqt Hitler and Stalin were good friends till the middle of the war and they did copy a lot one from the other....

  • @mickiandalusia You ass, the past participe of "to teach" is "taught", NOT "teached". Gheorghyi

  • @Gheorgyi

A clerical error is excusable, (at least I can speak 4 languages). Uncouth manners, as in your case here, not.

I always thought age makes wise... And by the way: What´s "past participe" ?huuu. Past tense, you little wisenheimer. Quid pro quo

  • @mickiandalusia "wisenheimer"??!!! well, you wiseass... Gheorghyi

  • Certainly nationalsocialism was motivated aesthetically, I think that's one of the reasons why so many Germans became Nazis. And that kind of aesthetics was rooted in the 19th century (as well as antisemiticm). It doesn't matter whether Furtwängler was antisemitic - Wagner was antisemitic!!! Regarding arts what matters is that the music is wonderful. Regarding Furtwängler's and other's behaviour what matters is: how many people were murdered and that Hitler's aims were obvious.

  • Clearly antisemite comment, how does youtube allow this ????

  • did you know that Herr Doktor Furhtwangler did refused to bring the nazi-salute. Not so anti semitic i thought

  • Furtwangler was NOT anti semitic, I am referring to schwarzkavalier comment which certainly is

  • When I was searching for "Meistersinger" I found many neonazi-comments - I couldn't believe it. Perhaps the only thing you can do is to write reports to YouTube.

  • to kunnukun: don't worry, it's mostly the uneducated who can't control their testosterone and are too ugly to have sex. There are interesting studies about rightwingers and their frustration about their manhood. Don't waste your time.

  • I try to delete them as I see them.

  • @DenHvideRose unfortunately stupid people get any chance to demonstrate who they are...

  • "All antisemites are pigs." - thus spake Friedrich Nietzsche.

  • In which work did he say that?

  • But Nietsche was an antisemit too....

  • April 1942... they still thought they'd win the war at this stage.

As far as the Germans were concerned, they'd crushed France, knocked the British off the continent, destroyed 10 Russian armies and encircled Leningrad.

    What could go wrong now?

Just one more push in the summer of '42, and it'd all be over. The workers could get back to producing peace-time goods and listen to Wagner to their heart's content.

Little did they know, the Russians were building 9,000 aircraft per month.

  • tough crowd.

  • Furtwaengler was about the Art that's all.

I knew his granddaughter when I was in High School. What about the case of Richard Strauss as a puppet of the Reich, who championed the cause of his librettist Stefan Zweig (lest we mention that Zweig was a Jew?)? If they didn't leave Germany, they probably couldn't. Not only for their own safety but also for the safety of others,

I agree w/Calverienberg, and PSaenger. Too simplistic. There is more tho the story. There is a bigger picture.

  • Thats too easy to explain the collaboration with these criminals. Furtwangler was informed about the Holocaust and did fight for his orchestra where an important part of the members were juif. He knew what would happen to them. And he did not refused to play at the factory where juif were forced to work before being sent to concertration camp and death !!!! These old nazi lies I know from my family. Don t tell lies to us. FURTWAENGLER COLLABORATED FULLY!!!!!!!! HE WAS A NAZI !!!!!

  • The Jews have done all they can to demonize Nazi Germany and they always play the Holocaust card. They have turned the holocaust using the history channels and countless movies into a religion in which today you can deny Jesus Christ but you cannot deny the holohoax. In fact even revising or questioning the holocaust will land you in jail for at least 5 years in most countries

  • the fact of the holocaust is documented with lots of proof. there is no more doubt about it possible. Only people like you who don t look at these proofs and don t want to look will continue to close your eyes and continue the lie of the nazis. Yes it is forbidden now to lie about the Holocaust and the reason is that people like you should not be allowed to continue your nazipropoaganda of a better world which never existed and is the real big lie .

  • Finally in 1997 the jews confessed their full guilt in The Lavon Affair which everyone knew anyway. Nobody has ever shown proof that the Germans ever had an extermination agenda directed at Jews. Americans were delirious and distracted at the close at the close of WW2 so they were easily manipulated to believe that the Germans had exterminated Jews. In 1939 the author William Dudley Pelley published "The 45 Questions Most Frequently Asked About the Jews With the Answers by Pelley" in which he ..

  • @PRAETORIANXXI You should be ashamed to spread the lies and hate in this day and age. The fact of the Holocaust is undeniable, and everyone can find ample evidence of it. You neo NAZI'S are the most despicable and like your heros, the boldest liars. UTube should take all your sad messages off. .. Knowing that your kind are out there STILL makes me sick. Please don't use this music video for your lying propanda. Asshole.

  • by Pelley" in which he detailed how the jewish population inside America went from 4 million to 12 million during the decade prior to WW2. Nobody has ever shown proof that the Germans ever had an extermination agenda directed at jews. Americans were delirious and distracted at the close at the close of WW2 so ...

  • @uhartchristian They ARE nazis - what can you expect? They can't wait until the day they can strat goose-stepping again . They haven't learnt the lesson yet. Gheorghyi

  • @uhartchristian They ARE nazis, what can you expect? They can't wait until they start goose-stepping and singing the Horst Wessel Lied again . The two lessons (1918, 1945) haven't been enough. Gheorghyi

  • The Wochenschau-newsreel was produced by Goebbels. Furtwängler disgraced himself by being their puppet.

  • "Can you name one jew, on whose behalf Furtwängler does not intercede?" - Nazi director of culture Georg Cerullis

To paint Furtwängler as a puppet or Nazi supporter is way too symplistic.

  • I didn't say he was a nazi-supporter. I just said, he let himself be used in propaganda.

  • @DenHvideRose, I don't think he had the choice...

  • @DenHvideRose

Do you know what would have happened to him and his orchestra if he had refused?

How many lives did he save of his musicians by keeping them playing.

These people were literally playing for their lives.

You have no idea what the situation was and you had better hope that you never do.

  • @DenHvideRose Just as the shameful American opera singers and musicians let themselves be used by their government's atrocities against VietNam, Iraq, and Afghanistan.

  • LET HIMSELF? Hmmm...Maybe he knew better than to oppose the party...once it takes hold of the political landscape...there is no stopping it.

  • @Eraserlips He did oppose the party by refusing to join it. He was under tremendous pressure to do so, and unlike Karajan, resisted it.

  • @DenHvideRose absolutely not! Furtwangler knew he was being used and there was nothing he could do about it. He detested the Nazis like other artists - who had to shut their mouths and go along with the tide- or resist and be exterminated.

  • @puppetoz Furtwangler actually supported the Nazis so much that in 1943, when he refused to leave Berlin, Hitler promised to specially reward him after the War.

    Sincerely,

    Tom David

    Minneapolis

  • "Los maestros cantores de Nüremberg".Dios perdona siempre a los músicos.

  • Stunning video, thanks for sharing this.

  • Brilliant propaganda! We should organize a concert for the third world workers employed in our Baghdad Green Zone!
