  • In a real fight he would get kicked in the head by the guys' mate and would be defeated within a few seconds

  • @mark1983peace

In a real fight he obviously wouldn't be on the ground against multiple opponents...

    /common sense?

  • Guys, this is nothing like a real fight.

  • There are other ways to defeat grapplers than using grappling or striking. With a bit of research you to can find it.

    Senshido.

  • poetry in motion

  • Ahm... let´s be serious, this was just a class for the noobs. Do you really think a SWAT guy isn´t gonna kick the head of someone who is on the ground instead of diving into his guard? Come on!

  • @Flavioxeneize Do you really think Rener would be butt-scooting in a real fight? Without weapons, none of the officers in this video have any real chance no matter what the rules are.

  • Most of the guys there were like jumping into Rener's guard.

  • LMAO. Rener grabs his throat & chokes that last guy with his free hand! XD Gotta love that!

  • Cindy, this is Rener who is the grandson of Helio Gracie. He is one of the instructors and founders of the Gracie Academy. You can see the average cop cannot even come close to beating a person who is a black belt in Gracie Jiu Jitu.

  • SWAT got SWATTED.

  • @primalknives

Gracie who went on a crime spree? What?

  • The got skills!!!

  • I love that arm bar he whips out on the second guy! Awesome.

  • The scary thing is, he chose to be on his back.

  • @4:18 Straight into the Guard!! LOVE IT haha what a Champ!! :L :L

  • Rofl best part was at 345 where that guy in the military pants tries to sneak attack him and they all go GET HIM CARL

  • Renner was cheating a bit but facing that many fresh guys is a bit of an excuse I guess.

  • @fatguyonthc are you referring to him grabbing pants?

  • fuck i would have loved to do this!

  • Must..learn...secret..of Rener's Triangle

  • You can't do that in the ADCC faggot Gracie

  • @likemyapplezz

The back IS a dominate position!

  • Thats kind of unfair, you can do so many submissions of the back. These guys would probably do better on there back then in the dominant positions

  • Plus, back in the old days of the UFC, karate guys, boxers, tae kwon Do guys couldn't beat ONE jiu-jitsu guy. So how could they beat multiple ppl?

  • huntman125, NO martial art is truly effective against multiple opponents. Guys like bruce lee, jackie chan, and steven seagal beat up multiple guys in MOVIES. It's CHOREOGRAPHED.

  • Hip throw, any clinch takedown, standing submissions, distance control, knee on belly, getting up in base, front and side kicks, the super slap, wall pin defenses, GJJ is full of techniques thy can be applied to the fantasy-scenario of multiple armed attackers

  • Im sure they cover it in their DVDs, but how does Jiu Jitsu work against multiple attackers?

  • @huntman125 use common sense... the last thing you want if to be on the ground when facing multiple threats... this is friendly grappling. nothing more or less.

  • @huntman125 It allows you to escape inferior positions(i.e., being on bottom), and get to your feet quickly, so you can get the hell outta there. That's about the best any martial art can do for you against multiple attackers.

  • They should change the title of this video to ' Rener Gracie Triangles Everybody . '

  • Most of these guys are diving straight into submissions. I dont think they have prior ground work training.

  • @v1o they have, but even if you are good you look like a rookie rolling with rener =)

  • Police officer: "I got thissss"

-Dives into hener's guard and gets triangled-

    "Oh fuuck"

    *tap tap

  • Gotta love all those meat heads saying, "Don't tap!" Sure, Rener isn't about to start breaking white belt's arms, but you would sure mess up the flow of the exhibition if you took a little nap.

  • that is hilarious, triangles for everybody!

  • Diving into a Gracies guard........ most idiotic thing I've seen on YouTube.

  • this is the best video on youtube, seriously

  • When the police are in trouble, they call SWAT

When SWAT are in trouble, they call HENER:)

  • @Fryeza SWAT carry guns, I'd like to see Hener pull guard on a bullet lol

  • 9:38 was he like pressing his fingers to the guy's throat to let go of his hands?

  • now that's a workout.

  • Nobody ever got past his full guard.

  • What is the grip break at 9:35???? Also did it look like that guy pissed Rener off?

  • @lsloewen2 Did he poke his neck?

  • @lsloewen2

Looked like he got hit with a wild knee few secs before it.

  • @Cuthroatmonkey- Same to you

  • There isn't any ref standups in the street also half the champions in the UFC would lose to the Gracie Challenge

  • well from watching this video a few times i would have to say i saw the same 2 moves being used the most, triangle 1st and 2nd was the arm bars. so i am guessing those would be the most applicable in a self defense senario in real life.

  • Rener is awesome, but this is something most decent purple belts could do

  • As Rener would say, "this is triangle city."

  • "don't tap, don't tap!" , okay, I'll just let him break my arm,

  • RENER BRO YOUR A BEAST!!! shoulda sent the female out last, give her SOMEWHAT of a chance :P ...pure sickness, i think there were AT LEAST 14 triangles 6 arm bars LOL xD

  • So basically every officer in Jacksonville would have to call 911 if Rener got militant. Wow (obviously besides using a tazer or gun first )

  • @Tippet76 Not necessarily, it's not like the cops were using any strikes.

  • @Tippet76 Even a tazer gun might jam so there's no 100% guarantee :)

  • @Tippet76 no they wouldn't lie down with him if they weren't playing his game. He would wind up in jail or dead like the last Gracie who went on a spree stealing cars and assaulting the elderly...until an elderly man whipped his butt.

  • they stay in the gaurd thinking its the place to be based on what they see in mma and videos the gaurd is not the place to be ... as a fighter dont go into their gaurd elimninate their gaurd and you will be sucessful

  • @sonnych69 They were not good enough to pass.

  • @gmd1417 stfu

  • Much love and respect for the Gracie family and this is cool, but you also notice the police are not PUNCHING OR KICKING Rener at all. This would have made a huge difference, no way he could have handled that many guys that were allowed to punch and kick. No way in the real world someone is not going to throw punches and kicks, so this also would have made a much more realistic recreation of a true fight situation...

  • @gmd1417 You are not allowed to punch or kick in bjj.

  • @bigspliffs the cops arent there to learn bjjtheyre there to learn combatatives which obviously must include defense against strikes. This was just for fun though. In the gracie academy sparring often features striking with gloves on,bjj without strikes isnt self defense, its sport.

  • @gmd1417

The flipside is, of course, that Rener wouldn't have been laying on the ground patiently waiting for 21 assailants to mount; These guys also know how to kick and punch and Jiu-jitsu practitioners also know how to submit standing up.

  • @gmd1417 You're missing the point. Yes, punches and kicks add a whole different dimension. However, Rener was just chillin and showing these guys what a skilled technician could do. Gracie jiu jitsu trains for punches and kicks as well, but this was a friendly contest to demonstrate what proper body mechanics can accomplish. Rener never really got out of second gear.

GRACIE BARRA, O VERDADEIRO GRACIE JIU-JITSU!

    OSSSSSS

  • that guy at 4:50 looks like bj penn

  • rener manhanddeld all those swat team guys

  • Rener gracie vs. Demian Maia BJJ match. Just curious who would win

  • @ProudConservative47 maia obviously.Rener isnt as good as ryron and neither were at world champ level when they stoped competing. If they trained for it with other elite players theyd no doubt be up there with the best.

  • I wanna fight people laying on my back too!! Lol

  • can gracie jiujitsu be effective with multiple attackers? like in a randori situation

  • He stopped in Chicago @ 3:40 lol I thought he always flew direct!!!

  • @Jjones12 The flight to Mounted Triangle City sometimes requires a short stopover.

  • @metalmankeith I know, but Rener said he always flew direct and kept saying it was more efficient lol..

  • @Jjones12 a brief overlay LOL. Ryon is probably yelling "I TOLD YOU SO!!"

  • @Jjones12 a brief overlay LOL. Ryron is probably yelling "I TOLD YOU SO!!"

  • @Jjones12 I guess his brother was right haha

  • @Jjones12 lol he stopped at chicago because he was already controling the guys arm

  • rener is a big guy and some of those fellas made him look small!

  • lol it doesn't matter how strong you are, the feeling of being in a real triangle is hell!

  • its funny how there telling them not to tap when there in a triangel choke its not just a choke it cuts off blood to the brain if they dont tap they could get brain damage or even die.

  • This video is sickk

  • Rener is a true jiu-jitsu practitioner. Going with the flow while all these SWAT members are using their mass and muscle, typical of novices..

  • So many people diving into triangles, almost like I was watching the Fedor fight.

  • Another amazing thing was those guys came at home "full bore." And he still submitted all of them. And let's be honest; if he was in a real world situation; he would have used some strikes. Be it blows to the head or body to soften them up for the submissions. He's a bad little dude.

  • Renner Gracie first and foremost is in incredible shape. He fought for over 10 minutes straight, against rested oppenents. And a lot of those guys were bigger and stronger than he is. What an amazing art BJJ is. It almost seems like physical Chess. But instead of playing on a board; you use your body.

  • He should try mma, he's great on the ground.

  • it looks like he is looking for triangles

  • Comment removed

  • Hey, he used ryron's triangle from mount variation that he criticized on the recent video! Lol around 3:45

  • @OntologicalQuandary

    HAHAHAHAHAHA good catch!

  • BJJ Gang Bang.... what a sight to see!!! NEXT....

  • how the FUCK does 9 out of 10 of them all get caught in triangles?

  • @bigwigwigbig

    the triangle is reners speciality.

  • @bigwigwigbig because they stay in the gaurd thinking its the place to be based on what they see in mma and videos the gaurd is not the place to be ... as a fighter dont go into their gaurd

  • BJJ

  • LOL They are just all over the place!

  • essa base de wrestlers dos americanos, fica muito fácil... bota aí um faixa marrom de luta livre para ver uma coisa... com essa monte de fazedor de força fica fácil.

  • 6:05 Do a barrel roll!!!

  • was that ryron ant 2:20 cuz it was a soft relaxing voice

  • nasty triangles!

  • at 39 was that an armbar?

  • @mediumrarekrew

    yes.

  • rener would be good in the ufc

  • Rener is crazy, those arent even ideal triangle chokes and theyre tapping like crazy lol

  • Who's T-City now? Looks like Rener took over the title as they threw themselves head first into the big T.

  • did they have any bjj training prior to this??????

  • blech wear some socks man!

  • that´s awesome...u gotta consider that most of those guys were bigger than rener and a couple of them knew what they were doing! And there was no break for rener

  • Should just be noted that Rener only used moves that are found in the Gracie Combatives. He didn't do anything flashy or "advanced." This isn't Rener showing off Rener, it is Rener showing off the efficacy of Gracie Jiu-Jitsu and particularly the Combatives.

  • I agree all jumped right in his guard, one guy put up a little fight.

Also just to state a fact, cops and or gangs don't fight one on one, nor do they fight without weapons.

So this was merely an exhibition for our and theirs enjoyment.

  • Not that I could have managed this, but you have to admit it's made a little less impressive by the fact that they all leaped into his guard.

  • I don't mean to take anything away from Rener, but none of those guys knew what they were doing, even if they have been practicing for months, none of them knew about leg submissions or ankle locks. One ankle lock and it would have been over. Instead they all just jumped into his guard head first = triangle choke.

Forget about Americana's or full mount, one ankle lock goes a long way. Whoever is teaching the swat is not doing enough.

  • @PrisonCipher Hah... good luck pulling off an Americana or ankle lock on Rener. You think he hasn't seen those before? A few guys actually try to get out of guard, some try for half-guard and get nowhere. Not because they're bad - because he's that bloody good.

  • @Virility He is good, but he's not the best, and several MMA fighters have already proven that the whole Gracie "legend" is a bit overrated if not over blown. Do I need to mention how Matt Hughes nearly got Royce in a kimura then took back control? That's difference between someone trained and noobs running in head first into a triangle.

It's not impressive to me, but a simple ankle lock is very surprising and very easy to pull off. I don't care how many of them he's seen, anyone can get caught

  • @PrisonCipher Not sure that anyone said he was "the best", I certainly didn't. I don't buy into the whole "Gracie Legend" but I can't agree with the camp who thinks they're not amazing because they've lost a few fights (i.e. the fight vs. Hughes). They've certainly won more than they've lost, and let's be honest, when Royce fought Hughes, Royce was much older than Hughes and in MMA, age matters for the majority.

As for the ankle lock, the better you are, the easier it is to see coming and avoid

  • @Virility, My point being that even the most skilled get caught with the easiest moves. Aoki, Swick, Trigg, and even Lesnar, get caught with easy submissions that surprise the masses. But theres nothing amazing about an experienced veteran putting triangles on guys literally running into his guard head first.

Hughes was 32 and Royce 39 and in shape, age had nothing to do with him losing. As Randy Couture has proven that he can hang with the big dogs.

  • @PrisonCipher Right, and my original point was that it's highly unlikely those newbs running head first into his guard are going to catch someone of his skill in an easy lock.

Aoki, Swick, Trigg, Lesnar didn't get caught by newbs, they got caught by professional MMA athletes who excel at BJJ.

  • @Virility, as was my point, My first post was that these "newbs" knew nothing at the time as they didn't even attempt the simplest ankle lock or toe hold combined with diving into his triangle. You then stated that "hes seen it all before" which wasn't my point. There's nothing impressive about an expert taking on noobs. So here we are playing roundabout.

Are they newbs -Yes, even a rookie at BJJ would have attempted and ankle lock.

  • @PrisonCipher "One ankle lock and it would have been over" says to me that you're assuming one of these "newbs" could do that and win. We weren't talking about MMA guys, we were talking about the people in this vid, which is why I said "good luck pulling that off on Rener" because clearly, it's just not gonna happen with this crew - especially considering he's probably one of the best BJJ practicioners out there. Would a rookie *definitely* go for an ankle lock? Not in my experience.

  • @Virility, no lets not assume here, As I posted before, an experienced BJJ practitioner could have at the very least pulled off an ankle lock or go into the position, instead of running into his triangle all the time.

I already knew by the first 6 guys that this was a group that knew little to no BJJ, so allow me to rephrase, one ankle lock from an experienced JJ practitioner and it would have been over, say Genki Sudo, or NIck Diaz. Maybe I didn't specify, but thats what I meant.

  • @PrisonCipher nick and genki would elite grapplers, which has jack shit to do with anyone in this video.Had he been fighting another elite hed be far more conservative obviously. There is a world of a difference between an experienced bjj player, and diaz or genki who are/were professional athletes.

  • @PrisonCipher true about royce, age had zero to do with his assbeatin,he was never any good compared to the next generation of mma fighters. The fact that he won jack all as a grappler shows that he was far from the best in the family even.

  • @BJJANDKARATE absolutely - he's smilin' and just playin'

  • You think Rener Gracie knows how to do the Triangle choke, maybe?

  • What move that is at 10:00 called?

  • he was taking it easy but at the same time they have no idea what is going on except one guy.

  • @Crixxtachi they couldn't have stamped on him even they wanted to - very few people in Pride FC managed it and they were world class mixed martial artists.

  • Just about all of the officers fell victim to a triangle choke!!

  • rener is nice man but his cousin Kron would wreck him

  • @joebeast15 when rener and ryron competed they were every bit as good as kron and a good bit bigger. Also theyve been training a lot longer than him,8 years in ryrons case.

  • were the officers also told not to stamp him in the face while hes on the ground?

  • @Crixxtachi was Rener told not to bit, scratch or poke out there eyes when he had them in the triangle?

  • I would love to see Rener try the same thing against Paulo Thiago here in Brasil. (BOPE) The outcome would be quite different. Its like Rener taking a basic shooting class and competing against these guys in a Tactical shootout.

  • Cool Video!!

I live in Jacksonville and I believe my instructor Luiz Palhares offers classes to the police officers (I dont know if these are his students) Rener looks good though haha..those legs are good for those triangles! His transitions look good too

  • @Elementaljj

    Not worth the time.

  • He stays so calm......great job!

  • @PanKrato

Calm down their champ. No disrespect was meant to any body. Having served with SWAT the principles which we worked from are very different from what this video displays. What BJJ has done for my work as a police officer is unquestionable, however you have put these officers into Rener's element. And in response to your attack based on my comment. Your comment is a sign of your insecurities. You fail. I look forward to witty banter you plan to post, due to insecurity.

  • Rener is a sick grappler, but what we have to remember is that these SWAT guys would never get to this point. By this chance they are focused on defending their weapon from a suspect, and or using their weapon on the suspect. The other part of a SWAT team is the team. At this point one of his fellow officers is on the suspect ripping him to pieces and throw cuffs on him.

  • @Elementaljj

"would never get to this point" huh?

And why is that? Never is an absolute. Makes you sound dumb.

    You fail.

  • rener is the man but a lot of those guys look like they are just laying down for him

  • Or... he's that good.

  • wow one of the best grappling video i ever see

  • The Gracie Brothers (Rener and Ryron) should get a lot of repect for making the sport so popular. I really enjoy watching these videos but I haven't found any competition videos on Rener and only 2 or 3 with Ryron. Does Rener compete or just teach cops at seminars

  • rener competed when he was younger, not anymore though

  • ok it clears ir up. I see all kinds of Ralek and Kron videos, I thought he never was a competitor and just took care of the business and P.R part of GracieAcademy

  • he teaches regularly too with ryron and ralek

  • i love the way these guys just flail right into rener's guard. but newayz its just what i come to expect from rener great jj its fun to watch

  • hehe it's even more funny that they actually fall into his triangle not the guard lol..it would be good if they grabbed around his legs with both hands but they do it with 1 so they get smoked.. lol

  • very impressive. what i find more impressive is that he has the juevos to do that. most instructors wont do that, in fear that they may lose, and students will look down on them.

  • Hahaha this is hilarious.

  • Great performance by Rener , he has good phenomenal endurance and stamina

just like his uncle the legend and master Rickson Gracie, he used to do the same thing after each seminar, simply submitting everyone in the room

  • Comment removed

  • i hope you showed these guys a triangle escape afterward.

  • Yes, but the problem is that those "swat" guys, or whoever they are, really have no clue about wrestling...

  • actually there were several college level and purples

  • haha this is funny looks like fun.... real smooth rener

  • camaraderie and triangles

    nice!

  • what happened at the end? did he choke him before going for the arm bar?

  • you think after he triangled the 10th person in a row the cops would figure it out. great bjj, but probably more telling of the inexperience and lack of understanding of the Floridian police officers

  • They're probably not detectives.

  • hahah this kinda reminds me of kykoshin 50 man 100 man kumite

  • Hats off to Rener's phenomenal endurance and stamina.

  • we look on with awe as the jacksonville SWAT team, one by one, gracefully leaps into rener's triangle in a grand act of carotid sacrifice to the jiu jitsu gods.

  • @stevensartifacts there is definitely no better way to put that

  • i liked the second one he did wit his leg on the front of the neck any body know what its called

  • idk i like it too.

it was some kind of arm bar.

  • @donTMFron Omoplata

  • LOL! omggg rener is sexy and hott! hahaah x] I love Rener Gracie!!!!!!! <3

  • triangles must've been the special for that day. come get some.

  • love the triangle to armbar transitions

  • Ready?? Run into his full guard. Nice job!

  • @crazybanshee74 lmao i was wondering the same thing

  • rickson gracie did the same thing a number of years ago. he got dozens of blackbelts(i dont know if it was jiujitsu blackbelts or just a random assortment of blackbelts) into one building and single-handedly submitted and choked them all, with breaks of course

  • Looks like they need some good triangle escapes...

  • indeed... how many of them just walk straight into a triangle by rener? :P
