There is nobody like Agnes Baltsa, the greatest and the only one who understood Carmen, all of these girls Antonacci, etc, are too sweet and totaly out of carmen's character. They are all great singers though, no doubt about it. Callas and Baltsa, the only two on planet understood.
Um, have you even seen this? There's not a bit of "sweetness" in Antonacci. I wanted to smack her! Which made her the perfect Carmen. It's Baltsa who had the voice, but not the character.
what phenomenal singing and artistry from Kaufmann and Amsellem! Lucky London to have had this performance. A pity Mr.Gelb didn't get this for New York...
Magnificent inspired performance !! Bravissimo!!

I love Antonacci's facial expressions during this...she's the most insolent, mercurial Carmen ever!

A great production! Far away from european trash theatre! Very good costumes! Beautiful sets and very good acting. The singing is equal.

It was not on TV (BBC only) before Dec 26, 2007. The ROH may release a DVD, but there is no date given.
