They cut them because they don't know what they are doing. There is a similar dog, called a "Stumpy tailed cattle dog" that people try to make their heelers look like out of ignorance. A working ACD needs his tail for balance. It helps them in cattle work, and agility, etc., and acts as a rudder of sorts when making tight turns.
Please help me! I am addicted to heelers! We have 5. 3 red females, 1 red male, and 1 blue male. Seriously though, the more the merrier. It is nice having a small pack because they get bored easily, with 5 dogs they always have someone to play with, even though my leg is still the preferred choice of toys to chew on. I would hate to be a trespasser prowling around our farm at night and be attacked by 5 heelers.Your feet would be chewed off and you would be trying to run away on little nubs.
RED HEALERS ARE ZE BOSSS!!!!!!! I had one for 15 years (I'm 15 years old) died last year, and im going to get another one. freaking love them!
