  • Oh my god the music in this film is amazing.

  • The music is really good. The way the character gets involved with the box, trying to understand what is it, its awesome.

  • nice rigging

  • que miedoooo!!

  • he looked like the cartoon version of mr. bean, only he's bald :)

  • I really enjoyed this video, the music is great and I love the way it fits the video, the pauses and volumes are really well managed, and the timing is perfect! It’s really sticky.

  • Jajaja!

  • Mr. Bean without hair?

  • whats the difference between 3d animations and digital character aniimation?

  • @heeatherA Digital Character Animation is a 6-month program focusing on character driven animations in Maya. 3D Animation & Visual Effects is a year-long program that gives students an opportunity to specialize in animation, modeling or visual effects. The best thing to do would be contact one of our Admissions Advisors online at vfs(dot)com/speak-to-advisor. They will be able to provide you with a much more detailed explanation than we can here. Thanks!

  • so what are the list of skills can you learn?

  • it's a button, not a switch

  • this film clip we watched at my school is made to think about what happened to the guy when he cecame a box and as tingtimestwo sad curiousity killed the cat. I know that the other oxes were people because i know one of the producers who made this

  • lol he kinda looks like Howie Mandell

  • It's a horror without blood :D

  • how much it costs for the course in 3d computer animation????

  • @avengerteja Hi, you can find information about the cost of the 3D Animation & Visual Effects program at vfs(dot)com/admissions. Thanks!

  • I am a graduate from Vancouver Film School who graduated from Film Production class 126. Just recently, I started my own production company. I've shot my own short film with a number of graduates in my class, from the Writing Campus, and the EBM which stars Connor Stanhope, who played the young child actor Lex Luthor from Smallville. If you have a chance, check out the film on my channel. Vancouver Film School has prepared me well enough for me to shoot this film. Thanks! ^_^

  • if i was him i sould not press that button

  • Haha i love this

  • I really would like to join the school, but the price is a problem. Is it possible to start paying once you are in employment or any financial help for the financially challenged?

  • @Leondaniel82 Hi, you might be interested in contacting one of our Admissions Advisors. They will be able to provide you with information on financial options that might be helpful. You can contact them through the online form at vfs(dot)com/startnow. Thanks!

  • @VancouverFilmSchool Thx for the info, I will.

  • Very witty, likes it :)

  • How much time take to a student to make an animation like this.... i mean days, months, years...

  • @TheWoried Hi, Zack Mathew made this video during the 6-month Digital Character Animation program here at VFS. This project was most likely done in 3-4 months. Thanks!

  • Lol! Must press red button!!!!

  • I'm gonna avoid boxes for the rest of my life

  • Really cool video! The whole time I was like how is this going to turn out....

  • WHAT!!!!!

  • I guess ... the soundtrack didn't match. But it was nice.

  • THAT got 2 million views?!?

  • Do any of your students use Cinema 4D or Bojou?

  • @a42ozslushie Typically our students will use Maya and/or XSI. But at VFS our philosophy is that software, while important, is a tool used to produce great work. Our focus is on teaching the skills necessary to use these tools. Thanks!

  • @VancouverFilmSchool what kind of software does the students use when they are making 2d animation?

    Thank you in advance.

  • @MrMaybeimdreaming100 Hi, the students in our Classical Animation program use a variety of different tools when creating 2D animations. Among the software packages that are commonly used are Flash, Photoshop, After Affects, and Toon Boom's Harmony and Opus. Thanks!

  • That was so awesome! How do I, a thirteen year old, sign up for classes at the Vancouver Film School?

  • @MsAwesomeman12 Unfortunately the minimum age to join one of our full-time programs is 19, or you need proof that you have graduated from high school. But you might be interested in attending some of our Summer Intensive programs before you turn 19 to get a taste of what our school offers. You can sign up for the mailing list to receive more information at vfs(dot)com/summerintensives. Thanks!

  • Man, this one was depressing.

  • what program did he use? o.o

  • @xXtUrTlEsXx Most likely this was created using Maya and/or XSI. Students in our programs typically use one or the other for their projects. Thanks!

  • I am never pushing that button

  • loving the concept

  • Lesson Learned: Don't interact with strangers:)

  • which switch is it talking about? :-D

  • @judgmentwillcome About the one you use to turn on and off the computer. BTW, you should press it and hold it to see what happens ;)

  • Deamon box must feed!

  • this kind of story is very well used. try something more complicated, but it gets you wonder.

  • i did a short essay on this. I said that the silver box is like institutions like schools and colleges, and they take in curious, adventurous people and turn them into standardized, boring, dull, identical copies.

  • @CrystalMaidenxx I dont know about that. It was different for me I suppose. But that's only because I was given the opportunities and encouragement to do well in what i was good at and enjoyed. Then again, schools that don't do these things (my old high school) are generally shit and I can see your point. Sorry for this rant :)

  • this could make a horror movie!

  • its like monster(block) spawner from minecraft! LAWLz

  • Zack. please don't have kids

  • So film schools like vancouver's they do mostly animation because almost all these videos from vfs are animated.

  • @timd941 We actually have 13 programs that include Acting, Film Production, Writing, Makeup Design, Sound Design, Game Design, Digital Design and Entertainment Business Management as well as animation. You can find out more about what is offered at VFS at vfs(dot)com/programs. Thanks!

  • @VancouverFilmSchool oh ok because i'm not much of an animator.

  • @VancouverFilmSchool

do they have any 2-d animation?

I'm not really keen on flash and I've never done 3-d modeling

  • @cicada300 Yes we do have a strong Classical Animation program as well. You can find some of the work our students have done here on YouTube (you can find a Classical Animation playlist on our Channel page), or check out the program on our website at vfs(dot)com/classicalanimation. Thanks!

  • @VancouverFilmSchool ok because i've written a script 6 pages front and back for 3 movies each and 2 front and back for like a video/animation series (but all i have to animate with is MS paint so it might not that good) but has action stuff in it too in all of them.

  • VFS produce high quality 3d animators.

Congrats to VFS and Zack Mathew for his work.

  • and thus boxman was born....

  • oooo what does this button doooo

  • what the fuck dude??!!??

  • I love this film!!!

  • oh geez thats kinda creepy! xD

  • goood job :D

  • I see dead people :o

  • I love it when he fell off the boxes

  • curiosity killed the cat?

  • @tingtimestwo But it died WISER.

  • @T5646766

although there would be no point in being wiser when you're dead...

  • 642 persons were transformed in boxes

  • Canadians are weird...

  • Oh fish, that music, I love the tune :D

  • I find this sad :(

  • @Minither Well you can look at it in a deeper way... i think that the humans (represented by the man) are curious about what they dont know... and they try to understand that... whithout thinking that this could be bad for them

  • I would really wanna go to vancouver film school!

  • @Sammytop123 Fantastic! We're here to answer any questions you might have. Thanks!

  • @VancouverFilmSchool i have one! how much does it cost? :)

  • @NlkOlVy You can find information about tuition and costs for our programs on our website at vfs(dot)com/admissions. Thanks!

  • @VancouverFilmSchool thanks for the feedback! :)

  • How do you do this because i know im young and i want to do do this not because it looks cool but because i wanted to do something like this since i was 6

  • @playarificfresh Hi, this was made by Zack during his Digital Character Animation program at VFS. Typically, our students use programs such as Maya and/or XSI to create their animation pieces. Thanks!

  • @VancouverFilmSchool I'd love to attend VFS. I've looked at several schools and VFS by far shows the best results of the schools I've seen. I've been trying to find grants or scholarships that would ease the tuition price but I'm not having much luck.

  • @lolitsme50 If you haven't already, you might want to contact one of our Admissions Advisors. They will be able to give you some information on financial options that you might not have looked at yet. You can contact them online through the form at vfs(dot)com/startnow. Thanks!

  • i really wanna go to vancouver film school

  • @hellopat100 That's great! Let us know if we can help with any information.

  • Really great short, i especially liked the soundtrack

  • ITS WALL-E!!!

  • "So whats ur monster name?" "Killer Box" "U kiddjng me? I mean cmon! HELP, HERE COMES THE KILLER... box?!"

  • aww he died :(

  • @XTrevvion not only did he die, but all the other boxes were probably once people as well. O.O'

  • The Switch is a good video. A switch is an element of language, when a switch is activated/deactivated a series of language commands are executed, all pre-described as mathematics is the ultimate language of function. A switch also represents language and its chosen words; you use a word, it becomes you, you are boxed in. Accuse cave-dweller, you are the cave-dweller to the other side; accuse beauty, you are the beauty to the other side: Boxed in by the switch, cave-dweller or beauty.

  • huh... mr bean much

  • That was very creepy. But still managed to be funny.

  • "Its about how our society is turning us into corporate "

  • because no one can ever resist pushing a big red button

  • hahaha thats whats gonna happen to the world...those boxes represent technology!!!!

  • hha

  • Great job! Really interesting! Anyone know what the music is?

  • @Sebastian1011 Its just made for this "film"

  • @OldTimeyJunk

    =(

Great piece... I wanted to play it on my Bb Clarinet.

  • That was surely creepy in a way..

but it was also awesomely animated too

  • It's more like people being turned into a product. A silent warning about social networking and what we are becoming to the advertisers out there? Or is it what our employers would like us to be? Notice the curiosity about the shiney box was what led the character to succomb to "redevelopment".

  • creepy

  • haha loved it!

  • oh my god. I would so love to play this music.

    Any clue what it is!!?!?

  • This is awesome! You should work at Pixar

  • nice idea!

  • The New Wall-E.

  • um.. the video response 'how2cartoon" wasn't meant as a NASTY remark... I'll just sit here by the whirling drain for a while now...

    packrat

  • eerie.....

  • awesome :-)

  • YES!!!!

  • very good animation and gr8 concept!!

  • i think if i saw a floating silver box.. i wouldnt mess with it or touch anything

  • amazing

  • Прикольно. Нихрена сибе просмотров.

  • dont be mean to the metallic box. it was just hungry

  • its like that stuff is magnetic jello

  • Oh boy! all of the boxes were people! ...frightening... hehehe

  • "The surest way to corrupt a youth is to instruct him to hold in higher esteem those who think alike than those who think differently."

"The individual has always had to struggle to keep from being overwhelmed by the tribe. If you try it, you will be lonely often, and sometimes frightened. But no price is too high to pay for the privilege of owning yourself." ~Friedrich Nietzsche

Thanks for this excellent video, Zack! You're pushing the right buttons.

  • Stupendo!

...la natura umana e la societa' che tende ad omologare tutti....

  • Cute :D

  • horror!

    lol that was kinda scary

  • Oh? whats his name ?

  • This is great animation but, I don't know what mean ?

  • Its about how our society is turning us into corporate (tie and business clothes on the main character) drones void of individual meaning. I think the sugar cubes represent cubicles.

The cube also seems to suggest that our society is an immobile unchangeable force and we have to participate in it, fighting is futile.

  • Or

    Curiosity killed the cat.

  • yeah.... i like that one better, XD

  • @Skizzit24 But satisfaction brought it back
