@mrcalon - man you obvs dont play much tennis and he is warming up which is why his footwork looks lazy. watch his games once in a while and look at his footwork its ridiculous its as if he already knows where the ball is going to go
@paulchae8 - your probably USTA 3.0 level. Obviously he's warming up. Obviously his footwork is lazy. Obviously he's crushing the ball. Therefore, you can crush the ball with lazy footwork.
@mrcalon - the person warming up with him is just giving him easy warm up shots allowing him to crush the ball without moving his feet. but in a real match no one is going to give him easy shots like this. and there is a difference between a good forehand and crushing the ball
@paulchae8 - ok so u admit that he can crush the ball with lazy footwork, which agrees with my point that footwork is overrated for crushing the ball. sure, he'll need footwork to setup his forehand in a match. but like i said earlier tons of guys can move like federer but few can match his stroke mechanics.
federer's footwork is not lazy, it is efficient. there's no sense bouncing around like oudin and wasting a lot of energy unnecessarily.

which goes to show how OVERRATED active legs are in hitting a forehand.

...your joking right?
footwork is very crucial an essential to tennis
federers forehands are so amazing because his footwork is perfect and sets his shots up and lines everything up

@paulchae8 - no his secret is in the mechanics. There are tons of guys just as athletic as Federer.
Like the guy below you says, his footwork looks really lazy here, yet he's still crushing the ball. Hence my comment.
