I thought that koi could only eat algae like the first three days of their lives, I didnt start feeding mine til like a week after they hatched and they seemed to do fine had like 5,000 koi I didnt know what to do with.
@jordan628trisha the first day after hatching they feed on their egg sack, after that alge, infusoriums, daphnea,and brine shrimp are foods of choice...i run a brine shrimp hatchery and feed them on that, and decapsulated brine shrimp for 2 weeks or so. then go to koi pellets (mini),and freeze dried brine shrimp
@dhoncave you can buy freeze dried brine shrimp at any pet shop....protein is 45% on average..i cant think of the brand i used...for the first 3 weeks of life i feed fresh brine shrimp......i made a hatchery.

how much does freeze dried cost?and do you have info on it's protien content?

@dhoncave ... order your freezedried brine shrimp on ebay....way cheaper and you can buy by the pound.
