That makes me so sad. I had barely discovered her when shortly afterwards I saw the comments indicating that she was no longer with us.
Her voice flows out almost as if involuntarily; so effortlessly, with such precision AND expressiveness. Her performances inspire me so much, like nothing else ever did. I never met her, yet feel the loss.
Yes, Lorraine Hunt's Ariodante remains absolutely the best all around champion in the recording history, and I can hardly imagine anyone will better, EVER. Despite her peerless and timeless Baroque assumptions (Medee, Phedre, Ariodante, etc..) , toward the end of her career she kinda veered off Baroque and moved on to "bigger" stuff (e.g., Didon from Les Troyens). I felt a bit betrayed, but what can I say, she sang that so magnificently as well.
Hunt is the one who sang the first and the longest colorarura of this aria by one breath.

Wonderful rendition. It sounds so beautiful and effortless, almost aerial. RIP Lorraine. :(

I believe there is more libretti to this aria. If this is correct, could you please post them? Would greatly appreciate it.

Con l'ali di costanza
alzo il suo volo amor,
fà trionfar nel cor,
fede e speranza.
Non devo più temere
di sorte il rio tenor,
ma col mio bel tesor,
sempre godere.

What a commanding performance of the aria. Lorraine Hunt's death represents a serious blow to the world of baroque performance.

This is certainly one of the most beautiful arias ever composed by the greatest composer of the human history: Georg Friedrich HAENDEL!!!
