loved em since i was a teenager...but watched em sell out as i grew up....afraid i have grown apart from the levellers....leave the gigs, beautiful days to those that like to be followers....i think this is boring...souless....empty...talentless.....zzzclueless? like the new generation that are like sheep.
these guys prob sold out in 1994..in more ways than one! i remember festivals when they were real man!...bring back battle of the beanfield!
come on guys, the Levs are fantastic. They are just victims of their own success. They need to try different things or they would just rot away knockin the same stuff out gig after gig, and that wouldn't be any fun for anyone!!
havnt heard of these guys before today,, hopefully will be seeing them at kendal calling this year if my stingey mates can get some money together for tickets.... anyways, bloody loving it!!!
I love the zeitgeist album but feel Letters from the underground is of the same ilk and better than to be honest. Love all Levellers and been a fan of all albums since. Hello Pig was the hardest to get into but there are some cracking songs on there. 99 Minutes of Pleading being my fave!!!
It's not that hard to get, it's on the Hope St single. Amazing song, shame the Levs have sold out. I suppose they just don't have the passion anymore and are blinded by their own success. A millionaire singing Cardboard Box City just doesn't work.
@alvisfolk I wouldnt say they've sold out. As far as I can see they've stuck to their principles far better than any other band I can think of. They may have changed a bit musically for a while, but they're back on form now.
@krazykittykat100 They spent too much money equipment, adding samples and sounds that did not seem relevant. The shift from Zeitgeist to Hello Pig was immense, Zeitgeist being their last decent, wondefully decent, album. I have been a Levs fan for many many years and can't describe the disappointment in hearing the last few albums. They are still brilliant live, but I feel bands like Show of Hands have picked up where they left off, and the Levs, unfortunately, are a thing of the past.
@willowhound The sound shift was quite big its true, but the priciples have stayed the same. and its still good. Hello pig probably wasn't their best album but I really liked truth and lies and letters from the underground. It is ok for bands to try new things sometimes you know.
Levellers are awesome, i love them all and what they stand for, this song gives me shivers. Beautiful days 08 (Y) was good cant wait til next year :) xxx
Absolutely brilliant, the levellers are a fantastic band, always have been and always will be. Keep on writing great songs boys, you're an inspiration and all in all a fucking brilliant band.
