@ Noddy 1690 & pookerville: the people of Ireland decided that issue by referendum - a democratic process - in 1996.

@ Atheist: I also believe that the church has fouled its own nest and will never regain the political influence it once had, and no bad thing either. Care should be taken to see that it is never regained.

@Lilliz: try Finnish for difficulty. You don't hear the Welsh moaning about learning their language. It has the same Celtic characteristics as Irish.

Just to let you know not everyone in Ireland believes in magic gods.....

Religion has divided this country as well as the control that the CCL catholic church limited has on the education/health system is nothing to be proud about. We are a theocratic Democracy claiming to be secular to the UN.

Many Irish Atheists would find "God Bless Ireland and her people" offensive.

Also classifying Ireland as female could be viewed as sexist or is it implied as the motherland comrade.

1)The map shows Northern Ireland as part of The Republic Of Ireland.

1)Amhrán na bhFiann is the national anthem of the republic of ireland,not Northern Ireland.

1)The Head os State of The Republic of a Ireland is Her Excellency Mary Mcaleese,while the Head of State of Northern Ireland is Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth of The House of Windsor.

Northern is not really a separate country it is just a state, within the Island of Ireland.

The map shows the Counties (Regions) within Ireland of which there are 32

The map does not show either the Republic or Northern Ireland, only the regions that together make up the country, therefor there is no mistake.

Technically the Irish national Anthem is the Anthem of Ireland (and yes to a greater degree the Republic)

Northern Ireland does not have an anthem it uses the United Kingdom's anthem.
