@henere987 because where alot of people live/travel to the surf sucks ass, so we skimboard because the beaches are as flat as a pancake and the waves are about 2-3 feet high which is fucking perfect.

@henere987 honestly,I have never skim-boarded in the ocean. I live in Sacramento California, and we skim in the river...many people used to, not so much now, it seems to be a dying sport. When the huge boats come plowing by it makes perfect shaped waves to blast. They are sometimes extra large, from the really big boats/ships/barges that sometimes go by, but those are few, and far between. Its really nice when it is like glass & a huge barge goes past.

@mica21ish - In reality, it's actually pretty easy, you just drop your board instead of throwing it, and "walk" on it, (one foot after the other) instead of jumping on it like a retard :D I managed to do that in only a few tries, and I suck, so, it's gotta be easy. The question is, how the hell do they manage to reach waves that far in the sea, without losing speed and sinking?

@chasepmj Hey, I'm 13 too. Your problem is not you, it's your board. Wood boards are meant for flatland skimboarding, if you want to wave ride, however, you need to have a fiberglass board. Zap is a good company for this, i would reccomend getting a small or a medium wedge. If 100ish is too expensive, there are also some other cheaper fiberglass boards on ebay.

@FLYoliv3 well i depends on what you mean by regular. there are wood boards that are more for beginers but they sink by the time they get to the waves. and then there are more expensive boards made with foam cores with fiberglass or carbon fiber that are for reaching and riding waves.

@pilot1115 get like a medium victoria foamie. They are great begining boards to learn how to ride waves and they are like $100. But if you get more serious you can get a victoria ultra (I have this) which is an intermidiate board which cost around $220. Great boards and come in many different sizes.

@The412media and @Ravensfan2312, I'm 6'1'', 150 lbs, and I'm using a ML Slash Skimboards carbon fiber board, and have great float to get to waves and is super light weight. For 130 lbs, they recommend Medium for 125-150lbs, which gives you room to grow into the board. For 90 lbs, they recommend Small, but maybe a MS would be better for you to get more float. They helped me with sizing my board, try emailing them with your questions.
