  • I believe these young ladies are playing the violin...playing a fiddle is rough, but the violin lets your love flow. Just a fantastic job!

  • Totally amazing!!

  • Wow, I was not expecting as much. Impressive.

  • Very nice. I would love to hear the waltz a little slower though. I wanted to enjoy it more in an easy-going sort of way. Thanks!!!

  • yadliyadliyadli yowwwwwww!!!!!!i loee it ;)!

  • Im a yankee, i guess, and classically trained, i still appreciate it tho

  • /The one's who marked to not like this must be YANKEES. RN

  • great job!!!! outstanding!!!! what song was the first one???

  • @violinbluegrass Cattle In The Cane

  • mmmmmmmmmmm

  • that is so cool

  • anybody know the name of the second piece shes playing? :D

  • @agpbd lover's waltz

  • I can't believe people are talking during this performance. However played with heart & soul. Very LOVELY! As IrishEddie said "PURE". Moving in a way that Jay Ungar's version isn't.

  • Awesome...

  • WOW

  • o my god this is good!

  • How was the result!

  • WOW! amazing. BRAVO!

  • fiddle contest really brings the art down to sport level and pay off games

when it should just be the pleasure of the dance and fiddle.

  • Delightful all the way

  • Great

  • Congratulations! You're amazing! Could you tell me what are the songs that you played? Congratulations again!

  • What was the second song that you played? You did a great job!

  • @3pianists lover's waltz

  • I like fiddle music but i probably come from a very different background than most of the commenters here....I like it because some of the folk metal bands I used to listen to (still do occasionally) make extensive use of the instrument. sounds good.

  • @sociopathicregret Where can i find a folk metal band that has a fiddle?

  • @LostintheHoller watch?v=KjV5zpkVF1E

    watch?v=JM6TTC9bnx8

there are probably more i can find once i get my library again

  • does anybody knows the name of this songs???, the original songs??

very nice played :S .... this girl is amazing

  • she is really good

  • Absolutely beautiful.... what a smooth and talented musician!!! I would give my right arm to be able to play like that!!

  • hey what do you know? I'm learning that song now! but I don't think I can play as good as her...who knows right? Way to go! 5* =)

  • oh shit!!!!

  • very good waltz. check youtube her 2009 Booth Museum waltz. Just as good.

  • OMG wow

  • cute girl, nice playing :-)

  • Amazng i play violin But nothing like that!!!!

  • I would rate that "incredibly good"

It's impossible to say who "won" when they are all h********** Brilliant !!

  • The competition thing spoiled the first number which, I feel, really needed some kind of run-up to. They would be perfect at a live gig.

  • Great

  • wow, that was really good!

  • Aerin I love the chords at 2:51 & 3:27 - yer awsome and you should be on Prairie

    Home companion.!!!!!!

  • Amazing and really emotional.. Great job!

  • I would like to know when she moves into the second movement of "Lovers Waltz", if she goes up to second position? Its hard to tell b/c she's swaying and really getting into it!!

  • Yes, she goes up throughout, I don't know maybe she goes to 3rd? don't assume. I intend to learn this version so I'll let you know when I've actually studied it a little bit more. I was busking one day and this was requested by a passerby.

  • I wish I could play as good as her :) That was amazing :)

  • Very beautiful sound. So much hard work you make look easy. Incredible!

  • can you tell me the name of that waltz? Please .. you do it beautifully!

  • lover's waltz

  • Dude i can play that watz! Its a fun one to play

  • man, that waltz is almost as pretty as the fiddler...:)

  • Great fiddlin!

I've never heard this song before this, but it sounds so similar to Jerusalem Ridge. A little too similar IMO. Oh well, I'm just whinin' my little whine.

    Great playing!

  • wow!!

  • Great...Job .....Aerin....!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • This has got to be my favorite rendition of cattle in the cane, ever. I would like to have it on CD. If this girl ever plays at a venue, as unlikely as it sounds here in California, I would buy tickets.

  • Wow, this is great!

    GREAT.

    Very impressive.

    =]

  • AMAZING!!!

  • One of the best Tennessee waltzes that I have EVER heard. Dis she win btw?

    Just great amazing.

  • Fantastic waltz. Great technique , great dbl stops, great every thing!!!!

  • wow!!! i hear and see three no, make it four fiddles playing one time!

  • Absolutely awesome, extremely talented, I loved her version of Lovers Waltz.

  • This is THE BEST version of "Lovers' Waltz".........sorry, Jay !!! I've been working on this piece for over a year.....she is a gifted fiddler.......... The babbling of the spectators was distracting..... I love that piece......It's Ashokan all over.

  • Wow, she speaks so cunningly the language of the heart.

  • Very nice. I enjoyed it a great deal. Thanks for posting it up.

  • i have the sheet music but still tryin to study out the cords she used! i kno the g/b one but non of the rest :( cud any one help?? please

  • wow

  • beautiful song. What is the name of the song?

  • The first song is "Cattle in the Cane". The second is "Lover's Waltz"

  • i mean she only says it in the video

  • you can only barely make out what she says.

  • that was wonderful - well done

  • WOW!

  • wonderful. how can people be talking through that? did they go there to gab? unbelievable.

  • I thought exactly the same thing. Where are their manners?

  • Beautifully preformed. Love that smile of satisfaction at the end of the waltz. Hope you don't mind me ripping it to a CD.

  • That was beautiful....especially the waltz tune! Played with feeling and grace....I loved it!!!!

  • That second song has become my fav. I move the arrow to 1:24 and play it over and over,,Beautiful , Thanks

  • 5 stars!

  • Will you marry me?

  • this girl is an old soul, she's is not of this time...***** stars!!!!!!

  • amazing

  • Mesmerizing. God, look at her arm. When she plays it almost looks robotic and unrealistic. Sounded so good!

  • her arm is anything but robotic.

  • Cattle in the Cane is not that great but when she plays Lovers Waltz I could just melt.

  • The second tune is to good for words, alot of feeling if Imay say without sounding...funny one of my new favorite tunes

  • Very nice!

  • yet another nutter!!!!!!

  • This is, perhaps, my favorite fiddle tune (The Lovers Waltz) and you play it with absolute beauty and passion. It is, beyond a doubt, my favorite version that I have come across on YOUTUBE. Thank YOU!

  • i wish i was that good, i only know one song nad im learning another, but its hard

  • Wow your waltz brought me to tears and made hairs stand on me arms i so want to learn this tune, i am playin yur vid over and over again to catch it by ear but the double is quite hard when you use two strings!!! Would you know where i would be able to find the same sheet music for this with the same interpretation it is beautiful!!! Many thanks Kelly

  • Jay Ungar wrote Lover's Waltz...you can find the basic melody in sheet music form pretty easily. The doublestops are mine though...they're mostly thirds or other standard doublestops I guess...nothing too funky except when I messed up at the end, heh!

  • he also did ashokan fairwell, one of my favorites

  • The Waltz is: "The Lover's Waltz."

  • im so love in coutry music

  • brilliant this music gets right to your soul , thanks for the post -trichoone .

  • Wow!! That was awesome. Beautiful tone and played with a lot of feeling

  • makes me wanna clap my hands...

  • That waltz was beautiful, whats the name of that tune?

  • What song did she play?

  • idk wat the first song is, but let me tell you, the second one sounds a whole lot like "the blackest crow".

  • country musics not my favorite kind of music but still very nice.

  • Really nice, I am so jealous

  • Aerin, Well done!!! It is a shame that people have to walk in front of the camera and then sit there and continue to jabber loud enough that one hears them over your beautiful music... Yes, it is a shame.... Again, great playing... Continued success...

  • Having chosen an unwise location and audio pickup to video the event, I am to blame for the distractions. The people that were around me were very nice people who tried their best to accommodate me and my camera. Aerin did a great job and everyone was appreciative of her performance. Thanks for your comments.

  • Perfection

  • It's got to be Irish?

    Love'd it =D

  • It's American with an old Scots-Irish influence (Appalachian music). Although many of the tunes are from the Irish and Scots rep the style and rhythm are quite different; and these two aren't.

The first is from Texas and circa 100 years old, the second was written Jay Ungar, the same man who brought us Ashokan Farewell (a Scottish Lament in style, not a waltz as it is usually played).

  • incredibly beautiful version of lovers walt right there, simply fantastic.

  • aghhhh POSTURE !

  • I'll take that as a compliment : )

I've been in training as a classical violinist for the last 13 years and its been a struggle to get rid of those perfectionist habits. Its always nice to hear my posture is just as good as a 'real' fiddler!

  • Learn to spit. About 40 cents worth of Copenhagen in yer cheek oughta do it...

-- Great work, babe. I'd buy the CD.

  • not too shabby ..

  • Good Job Aerin!

All your friends and admirers at the SouthEastern Bluegrass Association are VERY Proud of you.

  • Goosebumps !!!!!!!

  • Dang girl you are good

  • Red Hot!

  • You're great! Only wish Bill Monroe were alive to hire you along for Opry stints!

  • Great stuff. As a very amateur fiddle player, you give me hope but also realize that I probably won't be close to where you are in tone, etc..Great playing..I also used to be a competitive dancer and had some auditions that didn't go as well as I thought either..You sound great, so don't let the people knock you..Most I've found haven't done anything like what you have done.

  • AWESOME FIDDLIN

  • Aerin, no wonder you are so GOOD, you come from a Kentucky family background.

  • Wow. Your playing has as much soul as John Coltrane's. I play fiddle. Watching this, I realize that I can never possibly practice enough. Thanks and praise.

  • If some of these people in the audience just wanted to go to this event to use the music as background music for their chatter, they should have just gone to a saloon.

  • Wow, the girls here in panama city don't do anything that requires talent like this. I keep forgetting how much I need to get the hell out of here. Thanks...

  • I'm quite impressed. That wrist just won't quit! Good job.

  • aerin, do get more satisfaction from playing fiddle tunes, or classical piecs?

  • Classical is good for technique but not nearly as fun or satisfying as fiddle!

  • pardon the spelling in my first comment. I must have been three pints in. Keep up the good fiddlin'.

  • You have a wonderful talent! Your playing is beautiful. I could listen to it all day. Thank you for sharing it with everyone.

  • it sounds so celtic :)

  • Wow--fabulous playing! Wish I was there playing Banjo behind you!

  • u played a little to fast on cattle in the cane but they were both really good!

  • Great job Aerin! As a fiddle player and a old time dancer, I'll vouch for her. Plenty of fire in that Cattle In the Cane. But can you keep in going for 30 minutes? LOL

  • My gawd m'aam, I'm only human!

  • Thanks for fixing my name!!!

And even though I am classicly trained, I've fiddled as long and as seriously as I've played violin.

  • a violinist who plays fiddle tunes

  • Hmmm...not my best but its still cool to see this.

The name spelling is amusing, its spelled Aerin DeJarnette.

  • You've got great tone!
