The difference between cartoons back then and now is that back then, catoon shorts were just that: "shorts". Basically sketch comedies, ten minutes long at most, mainly slapstick, and pretty much self contained. Nowadays, they're more like sit-coms: half an hour long, heavily plot driven, based on a situation or scenerio, often silly but rarely funny. The old ones were clever, the new ones are really just commercials for merchandise.
@FawxNewbz hahahahaha I know I know ! alot of people dont like that show lol . But im your typical girl I guess =) . But other then that show I really dont care for reality shows much . whats up with all these live-action shows nowadays?! theres no imagination or creativity about them at all. the few cartoons out nowadays are garbage..im an art major and i see no aesthetic meaning in them like the classic ones. it pisses me off!!
I'm 22 and I still love watching this stuff. Too cute! I thoroughly enjoy listening to how the narrator makes every individual movie scene (from a major Disney motion picture) to flow in and out smoothly, making it clearly easy to follow for all viewers. However, the Donald and Gorilla escapade and Pulto's scene really bored me. Sorry. Still love the "Heffalumps and Woozles" scene. Classic Disney memories right there!
Once upon a time, kid shows like the ones you saw on Disney, YTV, Cartoon Network and the Saturday Morning stuff you'd wake up earlier than if you were going to school just to watch were the best stuff on the planet, now its all live action shit or CG and most shows are pretty much the same stuff with similar looking people.
And this Winnie the Pooh scene scared me as a child and still does as an adult.
It really is a shame what kids' shows are like nowadays.. this old stuff was classic, epic, and masterpiece after masterpiece.. now there's spongebob, jonas bros, and hannah montanna... tragggic
When i first saw that scene Winnie the Pooh & the blustery day when i was 2, I was so scared of it that i hid from it. it haunted me for hours. It still freaks me out a little bit.
OH MY GOD I used to laugh until I about died when the sandman would come around with the hammer. And, though now that usually wouldn't get me laughing, I just did it again. My dad is staring at me like I'm out of my mind
that hunny pot has haunted and influenced me for years and years. that terrifying, disembodied chortle combined with the awkward weight of that pot barely supported by its gangly legs is freakiness fully realized. its ungainly gate makes me moderately nauseous, to be perfectly honest.
aww i just loved to hear my brother sit here and sing these songs from when we were kids!! was so great like i said he is blind it brought tears to his eyes while he was singing it (happy ones of course) thanks soooooooo much!! <3
This show is a reason why Halloween was so defined for me and became my all time favorite holiday. Everything did their thing to do something "scary". Now it seems it's trying to make it cute and cuddly........
Didn't you miss it when Disney released all of theses brilliant animated films? Like Peter Pan, or Aladdin, or The Jungle Book, or Sleeping Beauty, or The Lion King, or Beauty and the Beast etc. you get the idea.
I don't care about Hannah Montana or High School Musical.
@AnimationManiac I agree completely. Hannah Montana and High School Musical are complete and utter gutter-trash. Those miserable excuses for Disney material should have been scraped long ago and their creators should have been fired forever. They give Disney a really bad name. Any one of Disney's animated films can kick their asses from here to kingdom come. I find it shameful that Disney has let itself become the distributor of such filth.
the huffalump and woozle scene freaked the stuffing outta me when I was little! I hid behind a chair or wrapped myself in a blanket when I would watch it.
I remember the Heffalumps and Woozles. That's my fvorite sence from Winnie the Pooh and the Blustry Day that's featured in the Many Adventures of Winnie the Pooh.
I totally agree. Pooh was having a bad day wasnt he |-). Being scared by a tigger and by the idea of heffalumps&Woozles and then he floats outa his house! At least he has a wonderfull musicalnumber in between XD
Disney has some good stuff, where is Nick has very little to offer teenagers without being senseless. No kid needs to see Spongebob 6 times a day. Once is enough. Now, Nick's preschool line up is much more worthy!
Poor Winnie-the-Pooh! Of course, that nightmare is all that idiot Tigger's fault. He's the one who put the idea of heffalumps and woozles in Pooh's head to begin with. And considering that it wasn't a pleasant night to begin with, it's only natural that he would have nightmares. And if that weren't bad enough, when he wakes up his house (and most of the Hundred-Acre Wood) is flooded! That was a very bad day.
@zvermilyer2 We can't go pinning the blame on Tigger (he didn't know Pooh was gonna have nightmares) but yeah, Pooh didn't deserve a nightmare as freaky as this. As if his day couldn't get any worse!
Disneyfan82, you are so right on!!! Man, if some Disney admin or person with connections to the higher-ups is reading these comments you should A) put on DVD these old Halloween classics B) compile a new 21st century Halloween special from the 90s-onward and C) Forget those Hanna Montana, Wizards of Waverly shows; you pump out 1-3 year starlets and then move on to your next commercial fabrication-in-waiting the way those aliens in Independence Day move from planet to planet! Where is the art!!!
@str8edge09 Yeah, what the hell is up with that? What genius came up with that crazy idea? I'd love to meet the person or people who thought to put live-action shows on Cartoon Network and beat the crap out of them.
I think it would be cool if Disney were to make another Halloween special using the Disney villians from the 90s and up to 2000s. I can't stand the new shows they're showing like Hannah Montana, That's so Raven, or other shows no one cares about.
One thing I never knew was that those four Honey Pots that sing to Pooh were actually ones he fell asleep next to. I didn't figure that out until I was 12
I have this version recorded on a vhs tap, but I have to say I do like you for putting this entire thing up, but i noticed that the quality of these videos can look rather bad and hard to see at times because of looking too bright. I'm sure its just because they used older non-remastered (meaning they didn't bother to clean them up or get all the dirt out) cartoons for the special though, so its Film Landa INC. and Disney's fault for the bad quality shown here not yours.
the way the dude says "they tie themselves in horrible knots", with the emphasis on "horrible"...when i was little, i used to think that a horrible-knot was a specific type of knot because of this.
Todays shows are probobly the most over-rated pieces of garbage.
