Hi, i'm looking into getting the same model lathe but have a question first. I'm building a work desk especially for it and what i need to know is ...How many inches from center of the chuck to table top? I want to use it sitting and not have the table too tall. By looks it may be 15 inches? Any info will help.
You should learn the names of the tools you are using. That lathe uses #2mt for all accessories in the tail stock and headstock. You do not mount a chuck on the spur center. You could get somebody hurt telling them to do that.
Hello and thank you for the comments and help. Question, are you saying not to mount a chuck on the tail stock. I use a drill chuck on my tail stock all the time for drilling and forstner bits. my spur center comes out and my chuck slide in. I am able to use a chuck on either end.
Great video, very helpful and it gave me alot of ideas and info. I have been eye balling the Harbor Freight lathe. Love the file handles, great design...Thanks...Joe
Thanks, helpful information. So short summary level 1) the lathe, not too cheap ($200-250 is ok?) set of chisel tools. A solid bench(sewing machine cab seems great. and shaving stops. Face shield(Iwear glasses) lvl 2) self-centering head chuck, drill chuck for tail. would like to try pipes. lvl 3) calipers and head stock drill chuck. Can most drill chucks go head or tail? I got bandsaw , small drillpress, table saw and router w/stand. no grinder. but can use drill chuck for head. thanks gregg

I'm allergic to dust. Whenever i use the lathe or cut wood i usually have to use a dust mask.

Don't forget your dust masks. They are very important.

That funny, I never use one except when I'm painting. and I always have the sneezy problem after I lathe. Thank you for the great reminder.
