  • Surprising. This is the 1st time I see the video and before I always thought that the singer was some soulful American Black male vocalist. The voices can be misleading.

  • The fact that Pat disappeared up his own backside does not alter the fact he has the most amazing voice!!!

  • @MrBiggoolie true mate

  • I found LINDA......she had 3 boys, no relationship, no self-respect, a "husband" who couldn't see beyond his next pint! I still love her.............I just wish I could've saved her.

  • I wonder if he found her again yet ?

  • What a great voice. All the Simon Cowells wannabes could never match his voice.

  • are tops nice1

  • Lol, I love the lyrics in this also

  • Great song.

Reminds me of falling in love with a girl on a train on the way to university.

    Still looking out for her....

  • Never found her again since 1989!

  • Keep lookin. It will be worth it.

  • wonder if he found linda? 22 years on and still looking

  • They look like brother and sister:D

  • or as it became on ChrisMoyles show Looking Out For Listners

  • What about her downstairs Mepartment.

    Reece has found it.

  • What about her downstairs Mepartment.

  • Jl you found your Linda xx

  • I first heard a little snatch of this song in an old episode of 'Only Fools and Horses' when it was playing in the Nag's Head. I liked what I heard and looked up the lyrics and then discovered what the song was. Its a great track and timeless too.

  • Wotta voice !! superb !!!!!!!!!

  • Great song, great music,v really great voice. Just a shame Pat Kane was such a big headed, outspoken prick or they would have been far more successful as a group.

  • SUCH AN UNDERATED GROUP. I THNK THEY WERE FABULOUS .

  • Looking for Linda Mackinnon from barrhead.

  • Loved this song when it came out, was 14 at the time, used to dance to it at school discos with my first love... nice to hear it again!

  • Linda looks the girl from Torchwood

  • All of Coatbridge still looking..........

  • Downloading the song to get it back in the charts and coatbridge on the map!!

    TOWIC!!

  • A great story in a song sung brilliantly by the Kane brothers. It demands to be listened to several times when you hear it, with its laser sharp melody and warm humanity.

It's a shame Hue and Cry were not more successful but they created a body of work that has stood the test of time. If you like this you may like' Always the Last to Know' by Del Amitri, also a classic song with a story and a twist in the last line. Two of Scotland's finest exports.

  • HAS ANYONE SEEN MY LINDA SHE IS MY BEST GIRL

  • I never knew George Osbourne could play the keyboards! Great song though... always gets played at least once every few days on Absolute 80s fm

  • memories of my old restaurant job 2 hue & cry cassettes wer always bein played then "bros" wz played 2 clear people off home lol but i loved bros too back in them days!

  • This song reminds me fo not so good memories when i was going through a bad time in my life, and my great mum came and found me in some dead beats house

  • So who is the real Linda and what she doing now ?

  • Paisley Gilmour Street Station ! What memories. In 1982 we were driving from Oban to Bristol and my Dad crashed the car right outside that station.

  • Used to think this song was about me ......when i was a lot younger.......lol

  • I know she step out of a age that I did not know. We had our backs turnt in bed. She said, "I love you John" I made all the mistakes. I turned to her and said, "That is all I want to know"

You can't please a socalpath. Linda is the best woman I have ever known. Craazy, yet wonderful. she got me looking at the pavement because of her jealousy. She did not what me to see pals nor family. Control. Fack that!

  • This is a lovely song, reminds me of starting a new job at that time.

  • I love this song, it's going to be my 1st dance at my wedding, as soon as i find a woman called Linda

  • it was based on a true encounter

  • im married to linda , and i love her wi all my heart , i wud die if i didnt have her , LOVE U DARLING XXXXXXX

  • Hickey 66. If you learned how to spell it may help!

  • Linda looks like an actress out of Taggart. Patricia Ross

  • ' Tonight Matthew, I'm going to be Hue from Hue & Cry '.

  • Linda looks like Hagrid from the back...

  • still looking :-(

  • That woman playing Linda in this video played Carol Baldwin in Corrie between 2005-2006 :~)

  • I love this song, it is MY song! lol!

  • I met LINDA in the rain. We married in Doncaster. The marrage lasted 3 months. Was it my blaime or her's?

It was her fault, why? Volence. She hit me on the head with a full bottle of vodka. Stabbed me in the knee with a kniefe and hit me over the head with a four by two wood. Being a boxer I could have killed her. Happy to note, I did not.

    Since? I'm okay.

    If she comes back? No.

I'm in love with a lesbian now. i asure you, nothing goes right in life.. Fuck it.

  • @Hickey66 Doncaster, eh? ;-)

  • @Hickey66 wow :)

  • OMG!!! It's 1989 and I'm 15 all over again!!

  • @Mishima505 realy if your 15 can i have LOVE HEART XXXXXXXXXXX

  • Is that a young Paddy McGuinness?? lol

  • I was on the train when they filmed this clip. Filmed from Gourock tyo Glasgow in 1989. They took over 2 carrages and we had to fill just one.

  • They guys do a great unplugged version of this on their brilliant 'Bitter Suite' album.

  • If I may explain. The girl in the video looks a bit like my ex-wife Linda. The raincoat is exactly the same as Linda used to wear and her hair is about the same length. She also carried a half bottle of spirit, in her case - vodka. She would also sometimes spend, when short of gigs, a ridiculous amount. Her temperment swiftly changed if she felt slighted. She oringinally came from Doncaster. She was Miss Doncaster once and made it as a Page 3 girl. She became a glamour model. It is her.

  • This is a great song and a great vid. I especially like the lyrics, if you listen closely, 'specially to the bit on the train, it realy tells a story.

  • @jacko1972 what is the story though?

  • @jacko1972 ....yea it does!! Its the story of a fucking shit song!! how simple are you?

  • @jacko1972 captain obvious

  • Actually, Linda looks kind of a pretty lass.

  • @floydrose42 I bet she aint so pretty now... LOL

  • I love their music and I now have their 'Remote' album CD. For some reason, sometimes they remind me of Level 42.

  • I love this song! I play it daily now i've found it! Richieman...

  • Classic 80s! Pat Kane hits those notes effortlessly!

  • love this video!!!!!!!!! xx :)

  • Linda looks hot!!!

  • i love this song and they were quite cute in thier day. lol. i love there voice and could listen to them all day. there album is in the car and if anyone changes the cd i scream lol they have amazin voices!! xx :)

  • I have been looking for this forever. Wonderful song.

  • Great song, great band. One of my favourites from the late 1980s :)

  • Indeed, Hue & Cry are sadly underrated, for Pat Kane is a very fine and gifted singer, which shows best on "Bitter Suite" and their later records! Met him 1991 at Harrod's/London with his little daughter. Had a short chat, nice lad! Thanx!

  • very underated band such a clear voice

  • Hue and cry wrote Looking For Linda, because he, one of them, the singer met her. I married her. I the song is about her, because no one pays £35 pounds for a paket of fags. Wonderful!

  • @Hickey66 Except Wayne Rooney who pays £200

  • This was a big hit when I was at high school its great and I have one of there albums in the car!

  • I love their songs, especially from the "Remote" album. This song is one of my favourites, next to 'Ordinary Angel'. I still prefer them with hair.

  • Amazing, school discos come flooding back, nice one!

  • Another one to add on the list of childhood memories ;),
