I have to ask, how long did it take you to master reading music at such a high level? Also, do you know where I could find music sheets for music starting off with the lowest grade as I've now learned how to read music., just a matter of practising now.

I got goosebumps listening to that, and almost feel like welling up!!!!! AAscension I have the same problem as you! I have played guitar for 17 years. about 3 years ago whilst extremely drunk, I was in a hotel with a bunch of mates. 1 of them was embarrasingly drunk, and in the posh hotel he went over to the piano. I thought we were going to get thrown out, then he played van halen jump!!! it inspired me to learn. trouble is, I can get my right hand working, but not the left!!!!!

How long does it take (taken I'm talented) to be able to play a song like this?

Well it depends on the level you want. If you just want to play this song, then you could practice it by itself and get it down. If you want to be able to sightread this and make your own chords with the left hand like I did (Your guitar experience would greatly help with this, if you know the notes in a chord) then I'd say a couple years with good practice. Could be longer or shorter, it all depends on how much you put into it.

@AAscension You have to be careful about that. If you want to learn chord structure and how they work so you can make your own like he did, you need to make sure whoever's teaching you knows you want to learn that. I took lessons for over a decade and was never taught that kind of thing until I went to music camp (Yeah, go ahead, call me a loser :P ) But it's one of the most useful things you can learn and most teachers don't bother teaching it.
