  • When I saw the hat, I was like "Reni...?"

  • @askl23 me too!!

  • Daniel, who are The Primrose League signed to?

  • Nobody - all my music is free to download.

  • Whoa, pretty different from your usual ... I like the experimentation. It's definitely weird and cool.

  • at first i thought you were making a cover from a band named primrose league ... and ITS YOU! you are very talented congrats :D

  • I have to admit I wasn't sure what to think of it at first. But this has really grown on me :)

  • Thanks - that's pretty much what it was like to work on it.

  • This is just too darn excellent. Great job.

  • that is the punchiest Rick bass sound i've heard in...well, a while. Killer grove bro!

  • kinda reminds me of Yes. It's a pretty cool sound

  • Extraordinary. I haven't heard such a fresh and original sound in the longest time. God bless!

  • My favorite track yet from 'Letters to Cyril Connolly'... awesome!

  • Loving the usual Rickenbacker guitar fills and the bass track!

  • If I was an artist like you, I'd derive my influence from what you did. R.E.M., The Smiths, and Roses--man you were on the right track to begin with! Keep up the good work--it's entirely possible just from hearing your work that you'll join them someday.

  • Brilliant as usual, Daniel! :)

  • Is that a Reni hat you're wearing?

  • Great stuff. Love the Primrose originals and the cover material you do. You make those Rics sing.

  • Yeah Man! Love It!!!!!

  • Thats a corker-love it. watching your vids has really made up my mind to get some kind of midi trigger drum kit - so professional sounding with BFD or addictive drums. I,m tired of trying to tune drums plus I geuss you have the luxury of fixing any dud playing. I remember the days when musos would pay good money to record a crap demo in studio-these are release quality. awsome

  • @raindogred - With Pro Tools these days you can fix crap playing on an acoustic drum track - the "quantization" feature works exactly the same on audio as on midi. Personally I like to have a lot of "feel" in the drumming so I don't bother. I recommend BFD and the Roland hardware, it is an addictive pleasure to play it.

  • Yeah I'm motu/logic so no "tools" for me . I wonder if people watching this realise how hard is to do what your doing. Its hard when your playing all the tracks to get the timing right-you don,t get the luxury of jamming/reheasing with your mates. On the other hand you can tweak till your hearts content:) keep tweaking dude..

  • great as usual... i kept putting shit off at work today so i could listen to it 4 or 5times without bother... in a weird way the verse sort of reminded me of a "what if" collaboration btwn andy summers & peter gabriel.

really nice drumming by the way.

  • @slipris - thanks, amazing compliment. When I saved the chorus settings I used on the Ric 360 on this track, I called it "Police". And I am a big fan of Peter Gabriel, especially 2, 3 and So.

  • Another great song. Someone please sign this man to a record deal!!!!

  • Highlights:

    Lirics

    Song Name

    Last verse melody

The song unfortunately its not as catchy as the others, its interesting but its not what I expected.

    The video effects are great.

  • Well, I'm glad you liked some things about it! :)

  • Sweet! It's been two months too long since an update on "Letters".

I'm liking the lead Tele on this one. Although I think the verses are melodically stronger than the chorus, it still carries and keeps my attention. Even more politically charged lyrics, too! No doubt caused by the recent elections, eh?

Overall, a grand track. Just out of curiosity, you ever gonna release the untitled backing track from last year on Letters? Cause that's too badass to leave off.

  • Thanks. It's more about Nelson's column and the weird way that it seems to attract both tourists and protesters. I'm going to do something with that other track at some point, definitely.

  • Hell yeah, I've been thinking the same thing!... A completed "Untilted Backing Track" would be a great addition to "Letters"...

  • Really Really Excellent video and song.

  • Thank You Very much.

  • enjoyed this alot ,like a cross of latin and stone roses, well done dan, exellent

  • Ta!

  • You have an original way to create songs, it sounds great, very unusual for me. the timing of the guitars and drums...very nice !

  • Thanks, I was consciously trying to do something completely weird.

  • YES!! Been waiting for a new one for a while it seems. I like it alot how your vocals stay in the background alot like early-R.E.M.

Good as always. And I noticed you're wearing one of those hats that the Stone Roses drummer was famous for wearing.

  • Thanks, hopefully you won't have to wait so long for the next one.

  • I think the groove is really latin oriented. really original chords progression.

  • Thank you. The bassline on the verse came out of listening to some African stuff known as "Jit".

  • Thanks!

  • great tune

  • Nice one Dan!!
