  • He's about to break up with me, I can feel it. "My aching heart and I agree that you and I could never be, so with my best, my very best, I set you free."

  • I googled Ms Dusty only because she is Robin Gibb's favorite female singer. Now I know why - she was indeed a captivating singer.

  • Since I was 9 years old I have always enjoyed dusty springfield. She has such a beautiful and romantic voice.....

  • I wish she'd recorded this song...

  • Dusty has never been trained as an opera singer. Petula Clark was.

  • @bjou520 So? Petula Clark is delightful and modest but she'd be the first to say that Dusty was the greater singer. She's gone on record many times e.g. "I always thought Dusty was the best of us British girls" or "Dusty was the best - simple as that"

  • @Nicklas4500

I think I remember Petula said Dusty has the greatest technique. Dusty sing "I Wish You Love" very well even though I like the original french song much better.

  • I try to watch & listen to this every day!!

  • So remarkable ! Live performance with a 40 piece orchestra .. I'm immersed in her

  • all your fans wish you love dusty. this world is a colder place without you. i wish i could have known you. you are beautiful. R.I.P.

  • I WISH people still sang like this. So relaxing and soothing to the soul.

Blonde hair soul singer. Voice like satin. Wow!

    MaryB.

  • sitting here crying...i'm going to send this to my love of my life right now....

  • The irreplaceable, darling Dusty. I wish you all things wonderful. You are missed.

  • she sure is pretty and a sonic angel, but more than this...it sure looks like somebody divided by zer0 in her hair doo !! endless swirls and stars above...hearts set free...and yet a hair dresser inthe green room found the time to ....divide by zer0...! clap clap clap

  • Don't forget this is a cover of a beautiful french song of Charles Trenet

  • She is extraordinary, and I love her, but an opera singer? No. She sings mostly in her chest voice, pushing it very high and into her throat, which is one of the reasons her voice grew so husky as she got older (that and she probably performed constantly, which will wear out any singer's voice). Indeed, she was 'operatic' in the emotional drama of her performance, and without peer in the range of music she could sing -- as you say, 60's pop, soul, torch, jazz. She sang from the heart.

  • @sopranosd I'd agree - it's a different kind of opera. Part of the excitement is that she's often singing so close to the limits of her power and yet maintaining amazing control. She's so courageous vocally and disciplined. Someone (I think Derek Wadsworth) said that she carefully chose the particular pitch or semi-tone on the high notes that would strain her vocal at the top end to give goosebumps. She totally delivered.

  • Love Dusty, but Keely Smith owns this one.

  • Once i start watching and listening to Dusty i really cant tear away and try anything else! Truly remarkable lady

  • i always love music like this..dusty springfield you will always be remembered, for your beauty and talent, of course your voice as well. Talent like you now don't come no more.

  • She is beautiful, and completely captivating.

  • Dusty was the greatest, anytime, anywhere, poetry in motion.R.I.P sweet angel.

But still a great performance! And a great voice...

  • Love this song; I play it every night as her voice soothes me and prepares me for the inevitable break up.

  • Absolutley stunning in every way...the voice, the hair, the dress....there will never be another Dusty.

  • Miss you Dusty

    - with Love

  • A most humane song.

  • Were we all so caring in this world there would be no want.

  • Best version of this song I've heard so far. I like Nat King Cole's version as well, but Dusty Springfield's version has a depth and a soul you cannot find easily. It really resonates with me.

  • Sultry, smoky sensual. For this video, I always fast forward to the 0.50 minute mark when she starts to sing about the Blue Birds. Love her rendition so much.

  • God she was gorgeous! I appreciate seeing these videos and what a legacy she left behind with her talents.

  • BRAVO -- what a wonderful song -- a song of letting go and moving on with no hard feelings -- when the snowfalls i wish you love ----- wow such feeling and emotions.

  • love it

  • I love this version of this song. The way she phrases it and sings it is extraordinary. When she sings "and then a kiss, but more than this, I wish you love" i just melt

  • My God they don't make this kind of class act anymore! listening to Dusty just makes my heart melt!

  • Just lovely. Romance lives forever in this tender performance by the one and only Dusty.

  • good

  • Very sad song .. but very beautiful too and a wonderful lady singing it ... Dusty was fabulous.

  • as others have said, this is wonderful. Many people know about Dusty Springfield, but only a few of us know how well she could sing these standards--and her capacity to sing great jazz as well. There is a clip (not on youtube) in which she does a great duet with Mel Torme. Really great!

  • @zinwah I once saw a clip of Dusty at the piano singing with Mel Torme and it was wonderful. Do you know where I might be able to get hold of a copy?

  • @Nicklas4500 . I saw it on tv a while back but unfortunately don't know where to locate it. I've certainly looked for it, but sadly without success.

  • @zinwah always download your favorite youtube video, don't let copyright holders touch them!

  • beautiful & timeless....

  • let our hearts call it a day

  • Dusty was the best. she sings these classics brilliantly and then she belts out motown, what a great versatile singer. they couldnt get near this standard on any of these pop idols or x factor shows.

  • Beautiful voice......lovely dress....wonderful hand gestures......what a classy lady.....love and miss you lots. I wish you a peaceful rest.

  • A song sung with such tenderness...this isn't just a song, it's a treasure.

  • This song makes me sad. A girl that Ive been friends with for like three years, has this guy that treats her like crap. I told her that I loved her and she said Im just a friend. All I want is for her to be happy and not be with this jerk shes with now. She has no idea how good I would treat her...

  • What a nice person you must be and this is a good song to choose as a tribute to her. I wish "You" Love! *)*

  • Beautiful and fab I agree with you Dusty is amazing

  • Dusty!

    i love you

I wish you all the best!

    for ever & ever---

  • simply moving and touching

  • She was a Mod, Jazz singer, Torch singer, Soul Singer, and Opera singer, among other things. And truly understood what it takes to be a real, classy entertainer.

Today you have goofy, trainwreck girls doing vocal exercises with pitch correction on the PA and acting like ghetto hootchie mamas with special effects and a dozen dancers behind them.

Dusty could kill 'em with just a mic and a song. Pure soul and talent..

I hope the new biopic does her justice and isn't a pandering smear job..

  • Well said!

If I might add, she could own your heart with the sparkle in her eye or melt you with a gesture of her hand. She was more than a singer, she was an artist.

I, for one, hope the biopic never happens. Too many people, especially new fans and younger folk, will take whatever is written or portrayed as "gospel". You can't capture all she was and what she meant to her fans in a two-hour movie. I fear it will prove a disservice to her. I prefer to love and adore the real Dusty.

  • You're correct. And I have very serious misgivings about the biopics as well. I'm concerned they're going to focus on Dusty's personal problems and promote some sort of gay agenda. Dusty was, by her own admission, bisexual. Not gay. And it's horrible this even has to come up after her death. I'm going to contact some of the Dusty forums and see about getting a petition started leting the producers know that Dusty's fans won't tolerate any less than a dignified, poignant portrayal of her life.

  • @flamesounds

uve perfectly explained the current situation in music industry. Beyonce, Mariah ..doing it perfectly bt we get exhausted at the end of the song

  • @flamesounds I couldn't agree more

  • Sweet...

  • I love this song, Dusty sounds FANTASTIC! I wish there was a posting of Gloria Lynne singing this also.

  • Dusty had a way of making every song she sang all her own, didn't she?

  • You wish us love eh Dusty?

And we just wish... 'you were still here'. Love yer Dusty X X X Ray♥

  • long time fan, first time hearing this, just fantastic! she looks great here, thanks for posting!

  • i heard this song at my work and i thought it was so nice

  • The most beautiful voice in the world.

  • Amen! ... really grabs the heart doesn't it?

  • All you have to do is to listen to that voice, and you know immediately, it's dusty.

  • The BBC should show all these again in 2009.

  • This clip always breaks my heart...but, I still love it. Does that make me a masochist?

A great arrangement and beautifully sung.

  • Tremendous. Very skilful ... and very moving.

  • God bless you, Dusty - you rocked, girl!

  • awsome! she was fantastic

  • I did not know that she sings this song.

    Her voice is naturally distinctive.

    Thank you for uploading.

  • Perfekt! Dank je wel.

    Frans

  • Black and White Dusty RULES!

  • I never liked this song, but with Dusty singing it, well..... Thanks gferdinandus.
