That is funny you say that because people buy under the notion that the japs make beter cars, and thats it, maybe because one from 20 years ago is reliable. People r ignorant and refuse to by american cars.
people assume because they are a lot $ used, they must be better.Ford had a rough 90s, but has strided and drastically improved because they needed to. Fusion over Camry and Accord seems like a no brainer, i traded my crappy camry for an accord, that broke down 4 times. I love my Fusion,
To the contrary, Ford Taurus has been one of Ford's best sellers for years. With the rental fleets, returning their leases provided a superb deal for the consumer that wanted a good car at a really great price. Superior crash test data, reliability and tons of room made this a huge seller for all of us. The rentals are also very well kept up by the rental companies or they are charged by Ford when they return them.
Everyone raves about the Ford Fusion. However the resale value scares me a bit. Up here in Canada, a brand new '07 Fusion starts at about $24,000 + tax (which is actually pretty cheap), but the '06 used prices are around $17,000. I almost have a gut feeling that the car is just going to be another Ford Tempo: strong sales because of its features, but in 15 years they'll be giving them away.
Our used prices are more than that buts lets look at the bright side.. If the prices come down that low, wouldn't that give you an opportunity to buy one heck of a car for the money? Also, I don't care what anyone tells you, if a foreign car gets high miles, then the dealers don't give you what you think it should be worth anyway.
That is definitely one upside of depreciation (for the buyer of a used vehicle, not so much for the person who bought it new). Unfortunately I find that if a car depreciates too fast, the previous owners don't care for it as well as a higher priced car. Finding an inexpensive car that hasn't been neglected or abused is hard to find.
Did Honda or Toyota almost go belly-up recently because of their inabilty to create a desireable product, dont think so. And isnt it a bit crazy shopping purely based on what's american and what's not,If i want the better car I'm gonna buy the better car. Better buy one folks, its american, never mind the fact that Ford has to tell you its superior, just trusssst us.
I have the 06' Ford Fusion SEL....Let me tell you 1st...is Fuc**n awesome....thanks Ford.....you really out did yourself....wait for mine to be on you tube summer 07'....knock your boots off....
You're so full of it. Toyota has the largest number of US employees and they only have 34,000...meanwhile, GM, Ford, and Chrysler combined employ over 400,000. On average, they have between 75-80% US-sourced parts content in their vehicles, directly linking 7 million Americans who are employed in industries that supply to the Big Three. So cut the "not American" spin just because the Fusion is built in Mexico...that's one car out of dozens that Ford builds.
Why not? It has beat out both Toyota and Honda although they don't want to admit it. Just do a search and you'll see how well this car has performed. Not to mention you can lease it right now for $249 a month..
The fusion ain't in no way comparable to the tempo

Buy American? It's based on a Mazda and is built in Mexico. I think Honda has more Americans on their payroll than Ford does now.
