I heard this song in the movie High School High .. I was really young.. this issh motivated me to begin to listen rap >) Incredibly tight track!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Man, I've been looking for this song forever, but I couldn't find it. I remember loving this song and I remember knowing every lyric. I remember telling my friend that these guys were going to be bigger than Onyx. But I couldn't remember the name of the group or song. Then I looked up sohh.com on wikipedia and found that one of the Troubleneck Brothers started the site.
...... I thought Troubleneck sounded familiar, and I thought the album title "Fuck All Y'all" was hilarious, so I checked them out and found this video. Thanks a lot for posting this and bringing back memories!
this was my shit back in the day "i would tell you to run but theres nowhere to go"..classic shit. this group and the bushwackas "rough rugged & raw" were some of the grimiest real shit to come out in that era
Tell Your Brother We Are Deeply Indebted to Him And His Crew For Creating Such A Masterpiece Of Boom Bap Banginess For Real. This Is Classic Shit From 1993 And An Example Of How Real Hip-Hop Sounds....
I saw the Troubleneck Brothers open for The Beatnuts and Common Sense in Toronto in the early 90's! They were booked last minute when Artifacts backed out...one of the best performances ever!
I remember these guys, not because they were any good. I just remember how wack the name "troubleneck" was. They were so derivative. They were nothing but a shitty leaders of the new school, lords of the underground ripoff.
this version aint on the fuck yall album...thats what bothers me about the early nineties..all of the dope videos are not on the albums but on maxi singles which are hard to find. Like chi-ali's funky lemonade and road runner.
I lost some interest in east coast $hit when too many of their rappers got away from these types of beats and switch to those no energy, rhythmless head-nod beats around the mid-90's.
I got this on record.....top 10 of dopest songs and groups in hip-hop of all time! Also check out Rumpletilkinz "attitudez" & the umc's "time to set it str8" if you dug this video.
This is definitely an overlooked underground classic. By any chance did Lord Finesse do the production? It sounds like his style hence Trends of Culture "Off & On".
when I looked it up, it's just a maxi-single for the next song they did, 'Back To The Hip Hop' and 'Pure' I have them already in the pc, so hit me with an email I'll link them to you.
All the fake-ass so called MC's now being played on the fake ass so called hip hop supporting radio stations need to have this video along with these words tattooed to their brains because this is what REAL HIP HOP IS ABOUT! This is what the underground MC's preach about and piss on the commercial ass fake MC's.. HIp HOP DIED but it soul lives on through true MC's Like these... OUT!
Happy to have found this. The only place I heard this song was in High School High, during the Chicken Run. Its great to see this classic up and running.
yeaaahhahh!I had been looking for this since you tube started!I have it on tape, but cant share it his easy,so now I can continue spreading the faith!dope stuff!
Damn right, UB. The art form did die. It pimped itself out. I remember the 1st time I saw KRS on that Sprite commercial. Then Puffy and Mase.... Hip hop really started slippin' in 1999 with all this ish happening.
