I think a great guitar player should have command of his instrument and be able to play technically demanding music at fast tempos if required. Petrucci can do this with the best of them. Comparisons to Gilmore and Clapton are senseless. Think of the greatest composers of all time: Bach, Mozart, Beethoven. Most of their work is technically demanding and requires stellar technique to perform. If all musicians played like Clapton, most of the great music could never be performed or heard.

Petrucci has everything that a great guitarist should have. His playing is so accurate and complex. The side-effect of acomplex playing is you get minus on face expression because you tend to fully concentrate of what your playing there., but thats not his fault :D

But to say that there's a universal soul that everyone should have is stupid. It's like saying green is the only "real" color then calling Petrucci's palette of colors soulless because it has a huge range, and can do many different things.

Both guitarists have their own way of expressing. Maybe it's you, who cant understand Petrucci.

@wibal24 the second switch is for the the piezo pickup which is a part of the bridge, it switches the pickup on off or a mix between the magnetic pickups and the piezo. the guitar also has two output jacks, one is specifically for the piezo. the reason for having this pickup is to have an acoustic sound without having to change guitars or amps
