Great, simple design! A great starting point for building a durable, working robotic hand. This is a great basis, easily modified, for a fully robotic/animated hand. In particular, I feel the less moving parts, the better. Compared to many of the complex designs on here, while they are impressive, usually less is more for long-term reliability. I've already started to get the parts together to build one with some servos, clutches and Arduino control system. Thanks for the inspiration!

Animatronics are meant to be run in a programmed show for 17 hours a day, 7 days a week, for year after year, repeating show cycles. Puppeteered stuff has it's own place, and this is inspiring.

@BunsAndMathren not really much of a parts list. * 2 ft of #50 chain * copper tubing for the cable guides * thin stainless cable * 3/32 collers to retain the stainless cable (hobby store) * 3/16 bungee cord * 3/16 collars (from the hobby shop) * 1/2 sqr tubing for the base * 1 1/4 tubing for the back of the hand grip and finger rings * a piece of sheet steel for the base of the hand. Personally, I wouldn't copy it, use it as a guideline and make your own. Feel free to email me

my dad is thinking saying that this isnt a robot , because you have to use your hand to move the fingers. I think it would be a robot, if you use elektromotors to pull the strings.
