@ptholy Actually he is a very good singer. The microphone he is using can't handle the recording so it buzzes a bit. Also, he isn't trying to sound like JM he is trying to make it his own a bit which I liked.

I am sure you don't play or you are famous singer because you probably don't know how difficult it is to sing and play at that proficiency.

Frankly, I think your a bit jealous because this kid is pretty damn good!

Oh dear god yes! I was waiting in anticipation for the singing...hoping it wouldn't ruin the great intro. And it did not! The voice is great...it's not a perfect rendition but it was 4 a.m. and it feels like a real performance.

no.. it's not by clay cook. this song was one of the first songs john ever wrote during his time at Berklee. Clay Cook helped him put the finishing touches on it.

Argimaud, I know this is well after you made your comment, but I thought you should know that John does reference SRV before he plays Lenny or any other his other songs...On Any Given Thursday's commentary he mentions that he hopes to expose new fans to SRV if they've never heard his music. Also, the bit about "I don't know what will happen" comes before his police cover, which he also mentions in the commentary.

DUDE you did a great job but the first part of that song (from his live album) is Lenny - by Stevie Ray Vaughan, perhaps the best blues guitarist to ever live. Not your fault though, Mayer makes no mention of it when he plays it, as a matter of fact he does that "this is the part of the show where I don't know what will happen..." Mayer's writing begins at 2:25 on your video. But you nailed it man, well done. The whole first part
