I didn't know that to have tritanopia your parents need to have it to. I thought the difference between the tritanopia colorblindess and the red-green/green-red one is that it is not sex linked.
From my point of view, it's actually kind of cool the way tritanopes see the world, much more colorful than deuteranopes and protanopes... and more interesting to.
I'm colour deficient too! XD Mine isn't as severe as yours sounds but none the less my cones are in a pretty shoddy state.. Well basically pink and orange, purple and brown and blue and green look the same to me but it all depends on the shade of the colour too. Like I could classify grey as purple or green depending on how light or dark the colour is, navy blue and dark green look like black (and basically any colour if it's dark enough) and fuschia pink looks red. Pretty cool, huh? ^-^
i have this type too . whats weird is my friend is also colorblind :D except he is red green idk which one yet we dont really discuss it....... but yea i sort of like having this and sorta dont but at least i see some colors better than no colors :)
Yellow tends to look like pale pink and orange looks like lighter red (which is actually pink in your case)... At least you can see the difference between red and green. That causes lots of problems. The tritanopia spectrum looks very similar to normal color vision. It's hard to tell a difference at a very quick glance in some images when I run them through a filter. I don't know if it's possible to carry the tritanopic gene but not be affected like red-green colorblindness.
What do you mean that there's no white? o.O Anyway, have you been to an eye doctor? It's possible to have acquired it from chemicals, head injuries, or eye diseases. ( I don't mean to freak you out >_>) Tritanopes actually see in only two colors instead of 3. The blues and greens look like what a normal color vision person would call aqua-ish. (a blue-green color) The reds look like a reddish magenta. (reddish pink) I find it strange that you call yellow as blue. Yellow has no color?
thats very confusing. since men only have one X chromosome, for your dad to carry the gene he would be color blind. but since women have 2 X chromosomes, your mom would have to be color blind to pass it onto you aswell...
if my dad had a tritanopia gene, it would only affect his Y chromosome, and since he only has one of them, he would have to be colorblind. but that was a good thought.
It just occurred to me that if you can't see some of those colors I just mentioned, then you have no idea what I'm saying... LOL Wow how ironic. Anyway, trust me, you are able to see some of the nicer colors. A brown-based palette would be downright depressing for me.
haha :P Seeing everything blue I guess is sort of depressing, then again i've never seen anything else other than blue, purple and red....SOOooo it's alright for me...?
That is really strange. Never heard of this before! (Red/green I've heard of, but not this.)
One thing though; it strikes me that your color palette is comprised of mostly happy, cheery colors... So when you say that it's a "sad" color spectrum, just remember it could be worse. Imagine if it was Red, Brown, Tan, Beige, and Orange. BLEH!!! Or imagine if you only saw in black & white. Or old-style brown & white. How dreary would that be?!?!?! I'll take purple any day.

What would it have lived in a society where your parents, friends and teachers might also be tritanopes?

i still cant figure it out!!!

perhaps your mom and dad each had a single tritanopia gene and you got both of theirs
