@lemonrind - Runway 25 is the main runway. Planes arrive from the east and depart to the west. Go on Alert Road. behind the First Air hangar. But the airport is often very quiet. Late afternoon is the best time.
I wouldn't judge someone's video by the camera they use :-). If you are patient and if the opportunity to buy a new camera comes up, an HD flash memory camcorder now costs a little more that half what it cost even a year ago, the Panasonic one is around $450. But don't let it stop you from trying to be creative.
Great vid. You're right, the sky was exceptionally beautiful that evening. Your exposure is bang on, allowing for the details of the jet blast, the reflections off the fuselage and the pilots in the cockpit to show through. Nice music seletion too. Excellent job!
Where is the best place to watch planes at CYOW? Which runway is most commonly used? I went there the other night and I couldn't see much.

Awesome video man, I miss Ottawa. It's my hometown, the places to go spotting were perfect. I live in Calgary now, it's not as good!

@joe20mccormick - Thanks, we are indeed lucky here... not as much variety lately for spotters though.

I have to get out to the airport on a day with reasonable weather. I don't like the cold but I hope to get out there soon.

Thank you, it's a Canon HF100. I am going to be using a tripod more because I got a fluid head, hope to try it this weekend.
