does anyone know the name of the song/spoken that goes sumthin like 'the treatment of our people has been a national tragedy an disgrace, ur america is not the proclaimed land of equality and freedom?' im not sure if that's how it goes. im giving a speech at the university of Illinois this wknd an wud like that song to be my introduction. please and thank you!
As I suc upon my own braid..1/2 century old. my people gather on the FT Peck Rez in MT to give thanks. Please remember all of the OTHER native blood that was was cast before yours. Aye...
It is so sad that even though XIT was singing openly about what was/is going on with Native American, over Thirty years ago, things Still are not Right. What is wrong with this country Why are so many people still having to do without. I Love this Music and more people need to LISTEN to it and become aware of how American Government treats our Native American Brothers and sisters. so Many people are just Unaware and it's about Time they Wake Up and see what's really going on.
Wado for sharing this video and XIT's music. Have been a fan of theirs since I was a teenager and first discovered their music. It still speaks truths that need to be heard 40 years later!
I am a proud Choctaw, I have never lived on the 'res'. I wish that I had, then I would know my people in a firsthand sense, and not by what I have been taught by the media.
@walleyesam . my great grandfather on my fathers side was Chief. Choctaw. his daughter married a full German , so im white now.lol. but even though the blood is diluted, im am still so lucky. i know thats where i got my good traits . i have never even talked to someone with Choc. blood. beside my family.so its nice to meet you.
@Dead4everYoung, My whole family is from Oklahoma. 'Indian Territory' in the old days. Half of the family is white, and the other is Choctaw. I am 1/4 Choctaw, but I relate more closely too the Choctaw side because of how I appear to other people. Growing up, I considered myself to be white, but as I got older, I became aware of how others perceived me. It's all based on looks no matter where you go.
Fuck, I'm sorry, but how can you not feel hopeless and despondent after what has happened?? We are nothing now, but some crappy band people hardly know about. We are decimated. Our culture is gone. Help? Anyone? Insight?
@nizhoni1616 Doo nizhoni da! My heart breaks too, but in honor of my parents, grandfather (medicine man), grandmother (strong woman), I have to turn off the TV, gamebox (etc), computer/internet, outside religion (etc), bigotry, modern medicine, and personal laziness... after all I'm the product of all those who SURVIVED so I can live and use those skills within my body and soul! I am proud to the very core of my being!
Growing up on the res in Northern AZ I remember hearing XIT at the dances...and loving the music! What a special treat to find it again! Love the music. Love the words. And LOVE the memories
XIT was in Anchorage, Alaska at the National Guard hall. What a night Tom Bee is a great person as well as A.Michael Martinez, Mac Suazo, Lee Herrerra, and R.C.Garriss. This is the only album still sought after by a generation of warriors who still fight the good fight...
This is the real music than most of the so-called rez rock band. I can't feel this co-called rez rock these days; so anti-music about the deceptions of how the real music should be played. I love you guys (The Xit) for all your good music
Its funny you say that silvertear, my Dad played this for me in the early 80"s. That's when I remember XIT. Happy to find this music again. Thanks XIT.
It's funny how the congress men in the white house talk about homeland security. This is the only homeland we've ever known while other non-native Americans came else where. Our Great Chiefs fought battles on our own homeland for protection and security of their people. Good inspiration music...Can't get enough of the XIT
XIT, PRIDE OF NATIVE AMERICAN & FIRST NATIONS INDIAN..... 1st saw XIT back in da 70's in 4 corners NM, WHAT A WONDERFUL MOMENT... dat day still lives on in my head like it happen yesterday, indian education u can't beat it, believe me degrees i'v got don't mean a ga-dam thing, TRUE HAPPINESS IS ON OUR HOMELANDS......
I just wanted to let everyone know that, Tom Bee, is a very successful producer and owns a recording company named, "Sound of America Records". All of the original XIT albums are available through his company along with much much more incredible Native recordings. Check it out!
My cousin Ty and friends from town use to listen to this over and over again. Still sounds awesome. Your Battle River Cree friends from the battlefords.
This takes me back to 1975 Pojoaque, NM. Two white college chicks (BFF) watching the New Mexico sun set over the Jemez Mts, listening to Plight of the Redman w/ tears in our eyes. Thanks for the stroll down memory lane. I am ordering the CD for my husband who has never had the priviledge of hearing it
ahhh... true ol skool native rock i love it this reminds me of my dad when he used to drink budwieser and listen to xit, buddy red bow and the featherstone...oh and redbone and this was when i was a kid 5 6 years old
oki napis i'm from the kainai reservation...were part of the Blackfoot Nation confederation...nice to meet new peeps.we live in the most rasict part of canada..but were strong..
Right on! Thanks so much for putting this up. I never thought I'd get a chance to hear this again. It is such an awsome song. Thank you Creator for Tom Bee and XIT.
I was just gonna post that I bought it in South Africa in the early Eighties! Forgot all about them til I heard "John Two Hawks" Playing with Night Wish on a song called Blood Mary's Creek. This got me thinking back to what I used to listen to.

This inspires through obstacles which I have on this eartly path, finally completing my college education. The dream doesn't end...
I glimpse the grandest picturesque view ever imaginable, truely breath taking.
To the north going to the eastward horizon & foreground is the little colorado gorge winding as a snake to the mother canyon.
viewing the grand plateau-ous contry side with Navajo Mountain in the distance and the hopi mesas to the east, then above it beautful blue sky.
