The performance and the final result are OK. The only odd thing is the theatricality of it, and the somewhat goofy movements of the painter, who is acting "too much" the "I express my self" cliché. Maybe she is too aware of the video camera, or the public. The spectacular aspect is undeniable, with a problematic separation and delimitation between an alleged "public" and the performer.

But the strokes in the surface are very interesting, from an abstract expressionist point of view.

I think performance can be spectacular or not, but most artist choose to do it spectacular, and still call it "wild", "anti-art" or whatever.It is also worth note that the young artist looks like an post-punk chic from the early 80's, and she's not older than 25, maybe. So, the assumptions about identity tru her look are fair game too.

Theatre is art, but it is also a medium for entertainment, heavily supported by the cultural industry and stablishment, because it also functions as a way of controlling the public, and train them as "audiences" to be passive.So, the performer who theatrically performs for a passive audience, knowing what she is doing, is not being experimental or taking any risks at all. The fact that some random person defends her postion, and the position of spectacle, just proves my point.
