  • i agree it is interesting that the male part is higher, somehow you'd assume even a male soprano would have the lower part! Having said that, the duet is supposed to be between a mother and son .. it says"dear son" and "dear mother" so that would make the division of parts more appropriate :)

  • Whoever casted these two really made a good choice. They sound great together!

  • I began my serious interest in the art of song in childhood and began with early music literature working up through the years to modern-but there is something absolutely thrilling in this era and earlier in the genius of Monteverdi and contemporaries.Hearing it sung here so beautifully with good style and taste by professionals is so heart-warming.It is high art for sure.

  • I don't appreciate the rude comments by RomuloVideos2 below. Even if this person was kidding. If this person doesn't want to hear men sing this high, then don't listen!

I think it was absolutely beautiful!

Most people really do not understand the whole concept of the countertenor, or the castrati for that matter...and truly the sound of the high male voice is an acquired taste (like all finer things in life).

  • @primohomme you are right.

  • But I prefer the female voice though.

  • I think he was castrated (kidding).

  • TRES TRES BEAU

  • I love this music… more than most others. Gosh… so beautiful. I cannot sing it… it is like trying to drive a double decked bus around a formula one race track :s. My mid and late teens were mainly spent listening to this wonderful music… the oboe still remains my favourite instrument… gosh… so beautiful!
