Thanks for this. Magnum is an absolute treasure. I wasn't alive when it was on in the 80s, but I'm collecting all the DVDs and it's become my favourite TV program. You did an excellent job pairing the major themes of Magnum's life to this extended theme from the finale.

The show had a clever way of tying action, humor and romance in less than an hour. Selleck was a boss! Erin Gray, 0:08 so lovely.

Guys, I think I watched the last episode of Magnum PI (season 8, 12th episode) but I didn't get the ending... Magnum found out that his daughter was possibly alive thanks to a sound technician, and the episode ended with his date (some Hawaiian lady) sitting on a bench in the rain with an umbrella and then a shadow comes, which shows a man with a knife, and then the episode ends.

What have I been missing? o.O

Why was Magnum so well received, so successful and so applauded.?. For many of us who served during the Vietnam War he embodied much of the best in all of us..returned home and adjusted to life after that tumultuous period...in our lives. The backstory of Magnum's life during and after the war was what connected many of us to him.

Thats one of this reasons for this show's accolades, and why his Hawaiian shirt is in the Smithsonian...

No, Magnum thought that Higgins and Robin Masters was the same person, and in the last episode Higgins told Magnum that he was Robin Masters. However at Rick's wedding, he told Magnum that he lied about it.

I still say he should have blown away Quang Ki in the "Unfinished Business" episode just like he wasted Ivan in "Did You See the Sunrise."

I think you mean the final episode? He is in LA but has to return to Hawaii when he gets a call from Higgens, telling a girl he (magnum) is in love with is in hospital.

Let me think... I know It! First episode of season 7, he mets a girl in L.A. and starts a relationship, but she isn't ready to go with him to Hawaii. Girls name is Chyntia, and episode is called, haha, ''L.A.''. Its a two-hour episode.

you are probably thinking about the episode called "L.A." in which Dana Delany appeared. She also appeared in another later episode called "Out of Sync".
