What was the name of the ride at 4:59? I remember loving it as a kid but I can't remember the name. I loved the Rainbow too. And any of you remember the Ali Baba ride which was like a fun house?
Maybe Maëlstrom? But I don't think so. I wasn't born during the years of Rainbow, unfortunately! I know the 80s must have been awesome! I need a time machine...! :( But I did the Rainbow once at an Amusements Spectaculaires fan, and it was really fun! I think I've heard of Ali Baba, but I don't know anything about it. :)
seems like its the maelstrom to me. unfortunately they took it down i think its been 2 maybe 3 years now :( i loved that ride.. for a family based ride it was actually fun!
@JPGroleau I remember Himalaya but it's not the same. There were two similar rides at La Ronde. Himalaya was white with winter theme while the one we see in the vid is the other one that had a music theme. As robotcave said it's Music Express (though I'm not sure if it had a different name here).
aww i miss the haunted house, the maelstrom and the troika :( the ones at 4:41 i don't think i've ever seen, maybe when i was really young but never been on them...also just remembered the magic carpet even though that went a long time ago lol
The Moulin de la Sorcière was fun! Maelstrom and Troika (Diablo) were good flat rides. I didn't like the idea of replacing Troika with the Splash!
The Flying Carpet was amazing! I heard that in 2003, one of the pieces of the ride broke, but they didn't bother repairing it for the rest of the season since they were going to remove it anyway lol.
The new bumper cars suck! I much prefer the old ones!
yup. i mean the splash has a good drop that's about it and its refreshing when it gets hot but other wise i kind of prefer the pitoune lol even though its not as refreshing lol. I almost cried at the maelstrom it just seems like a classic ride that everyone can enjoy. And its actually fun. the only good thing about the B cars, they spin lol but the whole point is to feel like you're driving lol and the only bad thing about the magic carpet, it need padding lol that thing hurt!
Yeah, and I don't like where they put the Splash! The Malestrom was a very good family ride! I completely agree with you!
So you guys really like La Ronde? Maybe one day, we should do a get together and go there! Sucks that people at our age aren't into rides anymore! I've prolly been there more than 25 times this Summer. lol
I visited a fair in September, I did the Rainbow (5:48, ride on your left) and Kamikaze (Astronef). Rainbow is amazing, like the magic carpert, it was very intense, too!
i have down a similar ride to rainbow in one of those travelling fairs. But yesterday i came across the accident that happened in sweden. And one that happened on a similar type ride but that's has a waaay shorter arm. So i'm sort of afraid of them now lol. I guess that's why they take older rides away eventually, either they stop making them or they probably figure to just replace them with something newer instead of doing more maintenance :(
I remember reading about that incident a few months ago.
Did you go to one of the fairs by Amusements Spectaculaires? I think we went on the same Rainbow! lol At times, the arm was turning very fast, and it was pretty intense. I was also thinking about that incident when I was on it!
The scariest was Kamikaze! It felt like the ride was going to break into pieces with all the noises it was making! I liked it better than Veritgo, though.
laronde looks diffrent from now adays lol. like why did they take out the ride in the background from about 3:30 to 3:57. serously that ride looks like so much fun.
