Don't know what ryu either. Definitely not seitei, Muso Jikkiden Eishin Ryu or Shinden Ryu. It seems like he's doing the kata's very mechanically; No tenouchi, sanshin, seem sloppy. but it could be the style...(don't wanna step on anybody's toe. :P)
dunno either, I can say what its not, its not Seitei, not Eishin ryu. not Hokushin Shinnoh Ryu not Katori Shinto, not Muso shinden not Suio ryu, Not Yagu Shinkage either but it is nice and looks like true Iaido embu
Actually, he did. See the small slice to the right, afterwhich he adjusts his scabbard? That's not a slice. It's a deblood. And a very difficult one to preform well. Also notice that he taps the handle during the reverse-hand noto. That's a deblood as well.
some of you really know your Iaido.good job!..so what the man is doing is To-ho from Nishio Sensei. the man is a 6th Dan but in Aikido and a 2nd Dan in To-ho. A great Aikidoka and a very nice person, Mr. Gilles deChenerilles of Germany.
What is this? hehehehe
It´s anything except Iai...
It´s really pathetic movie

Nice technique, fairly smooth, but... would it work ? It doesn't look like he is cutting anything. It would be interesting to see his seitei.

giansantiago, iaido is performing with a real sword, and he is doing that. So no doubts here.

hey thats not iaido iaido is the style of drawing, removing blood then replacing your sword back to the scabbard he didnt do the removing of blood..
giansantiago 5 years ago
He is, but because you are ignorant you don't have the knowledge required to see it, even though he clearly IS performing chiburi.

Not particularly, but Hibiki does do a stylized, almost theatric form of iai, yes. Call it teevee iaido.

hey is'nt this the same style Hibiki uses in Capcom Vs SNK2?

This man utterly lacks the refinement of a high ranking iaidoka. He's something for sure, but sixth dan? By who's standards?

Au contraire. Not mine by a longshot. He's got about as much polish as the bunch of ikkyu at my club.
