  • I used to set my cassette recorder next to the tv when i was a kid and record all the songs they sang. Love this music!

  • Pamela Myers...really had a beautiful voice.

  • @TypOPositiv Watched the original show every week but have only with the discovery of YOUTUBE begun to appreciate what I used to take for granted.

BTW have always wanted to use ANEG as a Username but thought I would save it for a pet dog instead.

No dog so I use my HS gym lock combo instead.

  • @alpha18412 I hear you,I remember it being on too but hadn't a clue then what impact Sha Na Na had on pop culture at the time.In fact, they still do today.

  • truly beautiful cover

  • Good job

  • I must say Pam did a great job on this. However Johnny was beyond compare. He looks like he's in love lol Great actor too wink wink

  • yeah Johny can still sing. both he and the otehrs have gotten older like the rest of us but still got to love them

  • OMG I was just a kid when this was on but I remember this!!! By any chance is Sha Na Na on DVD now?

  • Sha Na Na will never beat Showaddywaddy.

  • @showaddywaddyfan I listened to showaddywaddy and they don't even come close to being as good as sha na na. I wouldn't pay to go see them.

  • @proudtobefromwv I know the don't even come close but SWW are still a great band.

  • @showaddywaddyfan Stop spamming for your fag band, asshole. It's getting old.

  • I love ShaNaNa! They were the best!

  • johnny sounds great

  • watch?v=g9zIMNDEAcU

  • thing ginger farts?

  • I loved this show, & hands-down, Johnny C. could really, REALLY sing. Whatever happened to him?": The best moment--ever--on this show was when Johnny & the guys sang " My Special Angel", to a young girl from the audience. There was no0 clowning around, they got down & got serious, & it was beautiful. I wonder if anyone else remembers that moment? I was just stunned; they were sensational. Wolfsky9, 64 y/o

  • @Wolfsky9 type in ShaNaNa My Special Angel and scroll down, its on there,I just watched the video.

  • @Wolfsky9 it was beautiful when Johnny sang to that child. Pure. Just love.

  • @Tonithenightowl Hi Toni! How are things going? Johnny sang this song as good as the original also. Have a great weekend! Mike.

  • @mikeletz Life is good my friend. Very blessed. I always listen to the original of these songs so as not to be biased. Not sure Ginger outdoes the original but Johnny does. Ginger has a excellent voice, she was on Broadway. They did this song justice and some. Don't get too drunk Saturday night so you can take me to the picture show wink wink I love their version of Saturday Night at the Movies

  • @Tonithenightowl I have listened to Sha Na Na since they first appeared at Woodstock, and there are songs posted on You Tube I never heard Sha Na Na sing before. Thank God for You Tube!!!! It gives people a chance to meet someone as nice as you too. Have a great night! Mike

  • @mikeletz Mike, you were at Woodstock?????? I wanted to go but was only 15 at the time and that was a no go lol. But I did see the Doors in 67. Morrison kept his back to us the entire time, which was odd to say the least. With woodstock I only got to see the documentary but it must have been a blast. One of the highlights of our generation was Woodstock. I'm so jealous wink

  • @Tonithenightowl Hi Toni! No I wasn't at Woodstock. I have followed Sha Na Na since they were at Woodstock. (Theyr'e Music). I know there were people at Woodstock that were so messed up that they didn't know where they were at!!!! That was such a crazy time in our lives.have a great weekend. Mike.

  • @mikeletz Granted ppl were higher than kites, but what they didn't have, considering it was raining and half a million people soaked to the bone, was no fights what so ever. Pretty amazing.

  • i always loved them im so happy i found this

  • Songs like this make me wish I was a tenor... Blast this bass type epiglottal complex!

  • I think this better than the original!

  • EXCELENTE, EXCELENTE, EXCELENTE

  • this video is sikkkkkkk i wish iwas that during that dayy

  • cool !

  • Little funny that "Paul" wears a jacket with the name "Johnny" :o)

  • im from AFeganISTAN and i have 14 years old ..this kind of music is so good ..Bommb:P loved!

  • I would have robbed a bank to pay someone off, to get me on that show, and have Johnny sing that to me and with me. I could have held my own with the female lead back in the day. Did I say that out loud?

  • Magic. :)

  • awesome, love this music. thanks for posting it!

  • lol. my co-workers always sing thing song to me.. hahaha..

  • I am a 24 year old who is a huge Sha Na Na fan would they just make a dvd of this so i can be happy and they can make a profit.

  • @elros731 we are all waiting for that dvd but its a legal nightmare. Not sure it will ever happen but till then we have these clips.

  • @Tonithenightowl yeah when your right your right

  • @elros731 Women love being told they are right. Thanks lol

  • This is a very wonderful pairing. Johnny has a beautiful voice well matched to the music and a Frankie Valli look working for him in this type of song. Ginger holds up her end very well to create a video that competes well with the original.

  • i love it ..its been too long

  • Man, this is as good as it gets. Sha Na Na for life.

  • Hey Hey Hey Cool.

  • I love the look on her face after they stop kissing. She really enjoyed the kiss and the singing together.

  • Beautiful cover, real nice job, i'd put it right there with P&P. I remember the night this aired, it sure has been a while?

  • How did the 'comments on this video' disintegrate into a political forum?

On track, the song is sensational, the version that Sha Na Na did is well done (none has beat the original that I know of) and I must admit that I was a little surprised at how well they did this one.

  • Good song!

  • so far a gooddddd version of oh paula still not satified there has2b a better then better version any1 heard it yet helpppp i need this track 4 a good reason and the person who helps gets2no my little secret

  • @funkdobe I dunno if this went through the first time but i'm pretty sure this is the original version of "Hey Paula" by PAUL & PAULA, good luck! :0)

  • @pashy62 nope - not the original

  • I'm a huge Sha Na Na fan; met Bowzer and his son and they're both great guys. Seen them in concert when I was visiting Phoenix about 9 years ago. Also saw them in concert in 1979 when they were hugely popular due to their TV show. But the female singer in this video really should lose that awful wig!

  • @vegaslover777 Who's looking at the wig? lol

  • antzam614. Okey the worse enemy of USA, is the iligal emigration and the drug abuse, but remember something who has the big responsability of controling the Ilegal Emigrants, the American Goverment what they are doing for putting stop to the ilegal EMIGRATION, just notthing but think about it, Usa was made for emigrants from Europe, Asia and Middle East and olso the Hiispainic community but AMERICA is changing their minds due to the high abuse ilegal drugs killing themself and kill the USA.

  • Everytime, when i listen this song i fell nostalgia for the great past that had United State Of America that is expressed, though their music. The Music of today days are not the same as well as before, cause the drug addiction, of the new young generation are lossing their love interest the for drugs abuse. Some people in AMERICA, put as guilty to iligal emigrants of all tha bad things that happenning in this country, when the worse enemy of this country is the drug abuse.

  • illegal immigration is the worst thing and drug abuse is second

  • I love this video!! Sha Na Na are absolutely great!!

  • Pam was a cutie!!!!!

  • LUCKY girl, getting to kiss Johnny! AND singing with him!!!! WOW!

  • back then I thought he was the cutest guy, now he's the most handsome. if age has been cruel to him, then i hope it beats the @#$% out of me, because he is still fine!

  • As usual I agree with you Tuppy! I think he is a REALLY handsome man and looks young!!

  • Thanks Skippy. I'm like a Momma Lion when it comes to Johnny. The claws come out and the growl gets a bit loud.

  • Isnt it funny how protective we are of "our Johnny" He has the greatest smile. His whole face lights up. When Johnny's face lights up, well, so does mine!!

  • Oh, I know. We are so protective. and, his smile is one of a kind.

  • Why does age have to be "cruel"? It's simply aging; the passage of time -- if one is lucky enough to live so long.

  • When you consider the alternative aging sounds pretty good to me!!

  • *O*

  • I've got a girl named........RAMA LAMA LAMA LAMA DINDONG!!! BOY that was a good'n!!

  • We've lived next to Pam's sister for over 20 years. What a great family.

  • We lived next door to Pam's sister for over 20 years. What a great family.

  • he was a "silver tongue devil"

  • Johnny had charm

  • This group had some of the best individual musicians/performers in music history. It's a shame that egos got in the way of their talent. I had the priviledge of promoting them and get to know some of the members.

  • Still not late for the remaining members to re-unite

  • she's a bit nasal, but still a great song!

  • great song! thank you!

  • I'm 49 and I use to watch Sha Naa Naa, Johinnie was my favorite

  • Pam's at least as good as Johnny here; and that is truly astounding!

  • Johnnys voice is so clear and sweet!! Love him

  • nice

  • Very nice!

  • If a DVD company can clear music rights, it could release Sha Na Na on DVD.

  • Very touching and lovely.

  • Pam Myers Was Such A Lucky Gal...*Sigh*..., I Know Johnny's Taken, Single Gals' Like Me, Will Have To Wait For That Somebody Special...*Double-Sigh*...!!

  • Great song, great performance. That Johnny Mostardo was quite a talent. 5 stars *****.

  • His name is Johnny Contardo

  • Thanks. Sorry about that error.

  • Seems like Shakins Stevens teardrops :D

  • Hey, hey give us the DVDs!!! We wanna buy 'em right now.

  • man great song the original is great this is even greater!

  • After I stopped looking at her boobs I became aware of the fact that she has a terrific and unique voice.I'd never heard of her, was she a hit in the States?

Both singers excellent, with the bonus of perfect diction, which was (and still is) rare in pop.

  • Those are some nice knockers aren't they

  • Bigguns!

  • Pamela Myers ("Paula") was superb in the 1970Broadway debut of Stephen Sondheim's musical "Company". You can find some of her songs in this show on YouTube.

  • FAB GREAT SINGERS

  • I saw them at the Concord, CA Pavilion in 1979 or 1980. Their enthusiasm was infectious. They made me tired! One of the best concert i ever saw and I'm a 63 YO geezer.

  • I was at that same concert! They were incredible! I think it was 79' My girlfriends and I were yelling for Johnny! It's a great teenage memory!

  • Oldies but goodies!!!

  • Can remember watching this show every week, Johnny was my favorite, saw him recently and my how we've aged. Still a great singer and a great member of Sha Na Na.

  • thank you for the memories. my mom and dad split up when i was 6 and dont remember much from my childhood but i do remember sneaking in there room when this was on. thank you so much for putting on so many clips.

  • I remember seeing this show. My sister and I were faithful watchers of this show. I had the fun of seeing them in concert on several occasions. What wonderful memories. And having seen some recent clips of him...wow he hasn't lost anything in the voice department.

  • Johnny is adorable!!!

  • I DEFINITELY! remember this skit when I watch this show on late-night NBC c.1980.

"They don't make 'em like they used to" really sums it up here, I think ... some people think that SNN is one of the worst bands of all time, but we can't be serious all the time, can we?

  • I think that if those same people only HEARD SNN sing, without seeing the silly costumes, they would have felt very differently. And you're right, the way they did it made it very entertaining and fun. BTW, when I saw Johnny in Philly Sunday night, one of his other fans got to sing this song with him. How cool is that?

  • Lori, it was sooo cool. He didn't have to, but he did. What an absolute doll, on the inside as well as the outside!

  • I know! He's just as lovable as ever.

  • What a fun job to be able to kiss that guy for a living! Lucky girl, Pamela.

  • A good cover version. Sha Na Na had a super TV show in the old days that I never missed. Remember too that they performed at the original Woodstock 1969. It is funny to see Johnny (with his name on the back of his jacket, pretending to be "Paul" in the song. Oh, those days! Good Luck to all!

  • so was this considered oldies back then? it was almost be like 90's music being considered oldies now...heh

  • Probably more like 80's music is now. Though I think the shift between music from the 50's to the 70's was greater than from 80's to 00's. Just my opinion. Thanks for watching the videos!

  • The wierd thing is that the 80's seems reasonably possible in todays view - in the sense that it can sort of relate a bit to how today is..i dunno its hard to explain.

But the 50s was such a different time period than the late 70s. I can't imagine living in the late 70s and knowing that 50s was only just a few years back since everything was different by then. So yeah, the shift in culture and music was way different in that time frame than it is now.

  • ery nice

  • That guy looks like Billy Crystal

  • Wow - he sure does. Didn't see it at first. Check out other songs he sang - great voice! Loved the show in the 70s.

  • Well...That brought back memories

  • That's a dude at the window..

  • No it is not.

  • Hey, Hey Paula" by Sha Na Na with Johnny and Ginger on lead. (Johnny Contardo and Pamela Myers) First off that remark shows you have NO CLASS to talk to your elders as such. So YOU need to get some class. Also, you may want to look up Pamela Myers and YES it is a WOMAN.

  • Also that should be CORRECT (no s). Oh no did I just CORRECT you again?! My Bad.

  • That was you? Wow great hair. Please don't kill me. My grandboys would not get over that because to them I can do anything. So I beg for my life. I'll just take a time out.

  • No offense dude, but you have the BIGGEST mantits in history then.

  • Johnny was the best of the entire Sha Na Na line-up. Pamela wasn't a bad singer, either!

  • is it a theater comedy? or a musical comedy?

  • Yesterday I was singing this song in my mind, thinking of Johnny singing it. I had no idea that today I would find Shanana on youtube.

  • Johnny did a great job and he sounds better than Paul Anka! Wonderful!

  • awsome...thanks

  • Hey Brenda, Grease for peace ;) ¡Gracias!

    Emiliano (Spain)

  • I hope you still have more sha na na episode?
